I have been going to the Bruntsfield salon for several years and can’t rate them highly enough. I have had cuts and colours from a range of their staff, all have been excellent, so that I never worry if my usual stylist is unavailable when I need a trim.
I would also mention the Kerasilk treatment I had with Maxine in Aug 2021. I wish I had done this years ago. My hair is straight and used to be glossy but as it has gone grey it has become frizzy and harder to manage, even when I colour it carefully. I had tried all manner of expensive products on it, but thought carefully before investing in Kerasilk, given the cost. However it is the best money I have ever spent on my hair. It transformed the condition and appearance. Initially for the first week or two it was so well conditioned that my previous products were much too heavy and weighed it down, but as I adapted to that and my hair settled after the treatment, it has simply looked like the shiny hair I had when I was younger, and has been amazingly easy to look after and style. Six months on, the benefits are still considerable, and I am starting to hope my hair is permanently treated. I fully expect to have to repeat this treatment again at some point in the future, but I don’t think I will need it soon, and I will gladly invest in Kerasilk again when the time comes.

I booked a last minute apppitment with Morgan at 9:00 on the 21st of December. Morgan was extememly friendly and asked about what my plans were in Edinburgh. I explained that I had got engaged the night before. She immediately asked someone to get me a glass of prosecco. Morgan also spoke to the nail technician, Browlyn, (after I had been moaning that my nails hadn't been done) and sorted an appointment for me. After my hair was washed, Morgan dried my hair whilst Browlyn did my nails. I feel extremely grateful to the effort Morgan went to ensure my visit with them was wonderful. Went to this salon to fix a horrible haircut that ruined my week (from a shoulder length hair I had ended up in a kind of bob with some rags of layers done with the thinning scissors, my hair looked like it had been cut with a knife). I went to Jamie and asked him to fix it in a nice layered hairstyle and to make me look normal and he did an amazing job! I have normal layeres and he managed to even up and blend the layeres into what was left of the length, now I have a decent layered bob and I can style it and I am happy. I guess you get what you pay for, if you go to cheap salons you get out looking like a soaked cat whereas if you go to a famous salon and pay more you can look glamorous. Let alone I was treated so well, you are being offered a drink and they treat you like a princess. It's worth all the money, I will definitely go there again when my hair grows a little bit to do the haircut I want and now I trust Jamie will do it in the first place. I went to Cheyne's for a change due to incredibly damaged hair and issues relating to hair pulling/possible stress hair loss. I saw Andrea who was absolutely incredible. She was so insightful about how to manage my hair and was very sensitive about how upset I have been about the condition of my hair. She recommended that I have a Olaplex treatment and start using a Olaplex treatment at home. I can honestly say that my hair condition has improved significantly. I am due to have a natural balyage colour in November and cannot wait! Her recommendations for my colour change were really considered. I really feel that with Andrea's support I will be able to get my glossy and thick hair back. The service at Cheyne's so far has been incredible and I have felt that they really have your hair health at the heart of what they do. She was very clear that it's probably going to take many months for my hair to get back to its formal glory but I have already seen a difference. More...

Fast and efficient service. The facility is over two floors and not suitable for people who can't do stairs. Be prepared to pay ~ £70 for a cut and blow dry.

This was my first appointment at Cheynes Bruntsfield and I was lucky enough to get Craig Hibberd, the Salon Director, cutting and colouring my hair. Craig is a masterful stylist who has been doing this a long time, and it shows in the technical proficiency of my cut. I went in with straggly shapeless badly dyed shoulder length hair and came out with a beautiful graduated bob and long layers with a fringe, coloured to a stunning shade of dark claret/purple. My hair looks sleek, glossy and shiny, and my new cut flatters my head shape and jawline. You know you have a great haircut when you can’t stop looking at yourself in shop windows. I've been getting my haircut at Cheynes with Craig for the last 16 years. I first went to see him back when he was at the George St salon and now he is at the Bruntsfield salon. Before starting with him, I had always been unhappy about how my hair was being cut. I've had a lot of issues with my hair due to ill health over the years and Craig changed all of that and made me feel confident about my hair. I can always be honest with him about what I feel I need for my hair and equally I respect him for his honesty when he feels something would work better.
