Cheryl Pertoni is a facilitator for Cacao Ceremonies and is one of the few people in the UK to have been trained in the Cacaoista apprenticeship with Rebekah Shaman, and in Advanced Shamanic healing techniques. Cheryl is a qualified Usui Reiki 2 Practitioner, former sports coach and passionate food expert, along with this she is applying this alimentary knowledge of understanding plant based nutrition, plant medicine and plant consciousness in her current work.

What is Ceremonial Cacao?

Ceremonial Cacao is packed with many vitamins and minerals that are great for cardiovascular health. Cacao is also renowned for releasing Dopamine, Serotonin, and endorphins in the body, which soothe symptoms of PMS as well as depression, by boosting our mood.


Cacao contains anandamide, which is known as the bliss molecule. This is the same thing produced in your body when we fall in love or a intense workout and you feel a rush of good energy.

Cacao helps to balance blood sugar levels, and create more blood flow to the brain and heart, helping to strengthen awareness and focus.
It’s also naturally packed with caffeine (10 x weaker than coffee), this is stimulating part of Cacao and can give you and a burst of energy, and is said to enhance creativity, as well as deep meditation.

For centuries, cacao has been used by indigenous people to heal the mental, physical, and spiritual body.

What to expect from a Sacred Cacao Ceremony?

Cacao ceremonies are a type of Shamanic healing, Ceremonial Cacao does not have any hallucinogenic or out of body effects, cacao ceremonies are rooted in helping rebalance our female and male energies within us and restoring inner peace, mental clarity by healing our mind and body.

Shamanic Healing is the most ancient and spiritual healing practice known to man, it dates back to over 100, 000 years and has been practiced across the globe, it works to heal our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual bodies.

A Sacred Cacao Ceremony will involve an individual or a group of people, each person setting a personal intention in which they would like to recieve. Each person may share what they would like to let go of and what they are calling into their heart, you will be reminded of all the you are, your skills, talents, and creative abilities and you will begin to let go of the thought of everything that you are not.


What we often find is that most of us have very similar problems and fears, as well as hopes for our lives. This means that the people in the circle act as a mirror for each other.


Each ceremony will end in rebounding movement exercise, which allows the cacao to activate within the heart and body, and create transformation.


Through opening the heart, cacao enables us to hear our true self, work through blockages and past traumas, dissolve any pent up negative energy, and help us align with who we truly are.

It’s also a wonderful time to give ourselves mental and physical space and peace. You get to switch off, and retreat inwards, helping you to learn more about yourself, and gain clarity on where you are and where you’re headed.
