Chef Tony’s is one of my personal favorite seafood restaurants in the area. Chef Tony’s has an amazing 3-course menu option (Appetizer, Entree, Dessert). The food is very delicious with nice portions. The service is exceptional and very down-to-earth. The staff really care about their customers and continue to add personal connections to the guests experiences. The owner is also very nice and welcoming to new customers or reoccurring locals. The five times I’ve been to this restaurant, the food is exceedingly consistent and always tastes good. I would highly recommend coming to this place with anyone or everyone. The quality, experience, people, and food is unforgettable and definitely worth it! Thanks so much Chef Tony... More...

Found this restaurant through Yelp as I was coming here for the first time.  Reviews were excellent and I just knew that this would be the perfect restaurant to visit. Was running late and meeting someone here, called and Tony himself picked up.  Let him know I'd be about 15 minutes late, and he was as nice as he could be pushing my reservation out.  Upon arrival, I was seated in a nice alcove, while awaiting for my date, who arrived a short time later.  Though the alcove was dark and made it hard to review the menu, the area we were seated it was nice for talking relatively quiet. We ordered the recommend calamari and we were getting full with the amount of calamari in the appetizer.  It easily could have filled up 4 people.  I then ordered the italian seafood paella and it was delicious.  It was a huge platter of food and must have been close to a pound of pasta.  I ate and ate and maybe ate half of it.  The rest was a nice lunch the next day.  My date had the fried, stuffed cod, which was stuffed with a combination of shrimp and lump crabmeat.  Hers came with broccoli and some other mixed vegetables.  It was a good and also very filling dish.  We started off with some wine by the glass.  They had a large selection of wine by the bottle, but not as much by the glass.  We were offered dessert, and after checking out their dessert menu I was sorry that I had filled myself up so much because their desserts are all made in house and sounded delicious.  Next time I go, I'm thinking an appetizer and dessert and nothing in between.  Or, maybe dessert first!Really enjoyed the restaurant and I look forward to going back soon.  Highly recommend if you love seafood.  This is also a nice first date restaurant.  All restaurant staff was very personable and very attentive. We've ordered from here several times and the food is always fantastic. The fried zucchini (and their sauce!) are to die for.  Tonight we had a delivery issue with Postmates, and the restaurant not only returned my call ASAP, they also sent us a free dessert to make up for it. Really appreciate a restaurant that's willing to go above and beyond and make things right. More...

I received a gift card for this restaurant last Christmas but had delayed using it because I'm not a big seafood eater. My husband is though, and was dying to finally try this place and use the gift card so we decided to go on Lobster night which he was really excited about. The host was really nice and we were brought water and bread quickly, which was nice. It did take a while for someone to come over to help us but I guess a secondary waiter (or food runner? Not sure) came over to get our initial drink orders before our actual waiter came over. I appreciated that he didn't want us to wait too long to get helped. Our waiter was really nice and helpful with selections; he let me customize the Dad's Crab pasta with a spicy sauce which was amazing!  I really really enjoyed that dish. The portion size was generous too; I have a ton leftover. Overall the food was pretty good - we got the cherry goat cheese sampler and crab stuffed mushrooms as appetizers, along with the pasta and lobster entrees. I liked the flavor of the crab appetizer, though it was a little too greasy / salty for me so my husband ate most of it. My husband enjoyed his lobster, though the sides were kind of lackluster. He also asked for mashed potatoes instead of roasted potatoes which the waiter said was possible but didn't remember provide. My husband didn't want to say anything but he didn't really end up eating any of the vegetables or potatoes; I ate a few green beans which tasted nice but were kind of cold. I think serving them on a plate instead of in a bowl would've been a nicer presentation, too. We got the tiramisu and bread pudding for dessert - both excellent and generous portions! We both ended up with some to take home. Overall it was a nice evening. I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars because of the miscommunication on the lobster sides & the fact that they were cold and just didn't look great, as well as the ambiance of the restaurant. I liked that it was dark but it just seemed kind of dated. I also didn't like the pendant light hanging over the table, it had an annoying glare. All that being said I think it's worth checking out especially if you like seafood and small, quaint restaurants; it's a nice change from basic chain restaurants or the hustle and bustle of hip / trendy spots in the city. Second time this month, we had a fabulous dinner at Chef Tony's! My son and daughter in law were in town for the World Series ( go Nats) my beautiful daughter in law loves Italian, my son Seafood, and Tony was offering his Italian Pop's  classic crab pasta. It was the only home run in DC that night, all loved it, along with the creamy crab soup. Being a veg, Tony kindly custom made me a great pasta and veggie dish with creamy pesto- double yum!I loved the tapas appetizer, and my fam loved the calamari and fried zucchini with lemon. We all loved the desserts, tiramisu, cheesecake and Tony's bread pudding with caramel sauce. This place is becoming a very hot restaurant, try to make a reservation and show off to your pals that you really do know the best restaurant in Bethesda! More...

I would definitely return again when in this area. Parking is a little difficult however there is a parking garage right across the street.Although nothing stands out from the entrance there was little doubt the locals know about the excellent food as it got pretty busy. The perfect place for a perfect plate of pasta. I went for dinner with my boyfriend and used their Groupon deal for the 3 course meal. I would go back in a heartbeat because I want to try so many things on that menu! First, we got WARM table bread with oil to start. I started with the calamari and my boyfriend got the baby tapas. He wasn't a fan of his appetizer choice because he doesn't like olives but I thought the tapenade, hummus, and pickled veggies were good with the pita triangles. For my entree I got the spicy shrimp pasta. The noodles are perfect and not too mushy, and the shrimp were huge and the sauce definitely had a kick to it. By the time my tiramisu came, I was stuffed and had leftover pasta and dessert for lunch the next day. Everyone, from the host to our waiter, were polite and helpful. I can't wait to go back! It is special to find the passion of a person successfully shared with others and not artificially inflated. Chef Tony writes to his clientele like an author, shares food advice like a friend, and hosts his guests like family. Family can be rough, let's be honest. I've enjoyed the food and dining and spirit of the place. It's great to go alone to the bar for dinner, take someone special, or especially out-of-town friends for a special dining yet intimate place to catch-up.  Try it and you'll be back with confidence in the experience no matter what your need. Stumbled upon this gem while on a guys trip.  Seven of us got sat at 9pm on a Saturday night without a reservation with basically no wait. The staff was accommodating and the host Steve was very entertaining.  Food was amazing.  Everyone in my party loved their food.  I had the grilled halibut topped with lump crab on a bed of asparagus and cauliflower hash (unbelievable).  Pasta dishes for the rest of my friends,  who raved about their food as well.  Fried calamari and crab cakes for starters were nuts.  Dessert was bread pudding topped w caramelized apple ice cream, cannolis, and tiramisu.  Make sure you save room...out of this world. We were a group from Chicago, New York, LA, and Miami, we know fine dining.  This was the best meal I have had in years. So much so that this is the first review I have ever posted on Yelp.....Do yourself a favor and hit Tony's next time you're in Bethesda! More...

What a wonderful fine dining experience.  It started the moment we opened the door.  We were greeted by a witty maitre'd.  I sipped on a delicious Spicy Jalapeno Margarita and nibbled on the bread as we looked over the menu and getting recommendations from the waiter .If I could, I would have liked to try each of the starters.  They all sounded delicious.  We settled on the Cream of Crab Soup and Lump Crab Stuffed Mushrooms.    The soup was solid but the stuffed mushrooms were exceptional- one of the best I have ever had.  The crunch from the breadcrumbs atop of the stuffed mushrooms was a perfect finish to the dish.  It gave an added texture to the dish.  I wanted more after the last bite but I had a good feeling of more goodness to come.Boy was I right... on to the main courses.  We ordered Lobster basilico and crab cake, as well as a 1 1/2 lobster.  The lobster basilico was a perfectly poached lobster in basil and lemon sauce served with side of rice.  It was a little too lemony for my husband but I Ioved it.  The crab cake was lump crab meat with NO FILLERS as they promised.  It was full of flavors.  The 1 1/4 lb lobster was perfectly cooked and pre-cracked which made eating delightful.  The lobster just came out of the shell with minimal effort. We ended the evening with Chef Sonia's desserts - blueberry cheesecake and bread pudding.  They were both a perfect ending to a perfect meal. A near perfect dining encounter. A cozy, intimate fine dinning experience that doesn't come anywhere close to pretentious.  Walk in to the slim building to the welcome of the maitre d.  He is professional and welcoming and unafraid to use his wry sense of humor. We started with bread and oil.  Not something I would usually care to mention except the bread was crisped in such a way that it was more delectable than most restaurants main course.  Don't eat too much because what will be coming is just as good. First came our cream of crab soup and an order of crab stuffed mushrooms.   I'm used to mushrooms that are sitting in butter and a bit mushy.  After these gems I have new expectations for what a stuffed mushroom can be.  Yes, they were that good.  Perfectly cooked mushrooms filled with seasoned crab imperial and covered with bread crumbs. Next came our main courses of lobster basilico and crab cake.  We ordered a 1 1/2 lobster as well.  I didn't actually even know what what lobster basilico was until it was served.  It was a brilliant lemon basil broth with poached lobster throughout. Here is what made this near perfect instead of perfect - I asked for no tomatoes in the base but they came anyway.   They did offer a new order but it wasn't anything that picking them out couldn't fix.  This dish, served with a side of rice to spoon with the broth was worth the order for anyone who appreciates lemon taste. The crab cake was very good.  More of a high end feel than other lump crab cakes.  Sometimes it is nice to have basic, delicious crab cakes and sometimes, like tonight,  it was good to have a uniquely seasoned cake (still not a lick of filler in the crabcake).Does the meal end there - NO!My wife finished with bread pudding while I topped the meal off with blueberry cheesecake.  The cheesecake was on par with the best I've ever eaten.  The ideal sweetness, flavor and texture.   All of this covered in blueberry sauce and blueberries. What do you call a restaurant that has a wholesome feel with great food and prices that aren't but a few dollars more than chain casual dining,  that would be called Chef Tony's. More...
