Wills and Estate Planning

Excellent service. Very helpful.

Q&As

Our vast area of expertise in estate planning provides me with a complete sense of satisfaction in seeing our clients` relax - knowing that they have arranged their estate assets for beneficiaries according to their wishes. This gives the client total peace of mind that, no matter what the future throws at them, they have arranged their estate matters to suit their needs and aspirations.

Colin Yule previously worked for a large firm of solicitors in Glasgow city centre providing estate planning to the public. Increasingly he became uncomfortable with the solicitor partners` growing need for sales "at any cost" as this was impacting on best practices for the client. As Senior Associate Colin decided to set up a new estate planning business - with a fresh approach to offer the public a better level of service specifically targeted to their needs and wishes. Colin was joined in this new venture by a further six employees from this solicitors business.

The CIP is service-driven not sales-driven: we have a proven record of satisfying our clients` life-planning needs and wishes - our primary aim is to exceed the clients` expectations and this is enhanced by our working association with a leading solicitor practice in Glasgow, Dallas McMillan, who are renowned experts in this field. We ask the clients questions that other so-called "experts" do not and this ensures that whatever service we arrange for the client they can rest assured that it will encompass all future problems that may occur, and at a more sensible cost to the client.

We offer a remote service for simple Wills. However, Wills for more complicated estates require, by law (and in the best interest of the client), that we meet initially with the client to discuss their circumstances in depth - thereafter the completion of the service can be done remotely should the client wish. The setting up of Power of Attorney Deeds and all other Trust services must be arranged through face-to-face meetings with the client - a legal requirement to avoid the probability of future challenges from family or outside institutions.

While Covid-19 restrictions are in place we have set up the following good practices:
1: Clients must confirm with us (prior to any meeting) that they (a) do not have any symptoms (b) they have not tested positive in the past 21 days (c) they have not been contacted by the authorities` "track & trace" system to self isolate in the past 21 days
2: All documentation/paperwork/materials supplied to the client by us has been hygienically cleansed
3: Our staff carry sterilising liquid with them to clean their hands prior to any client meeting, wear face masks at all times and insist on a minimum of 2 metes social distancing.

Services

Homeowners can arrange to protect their property/properties and/or savings/investments from many potential threats to their estate which can dramatically reduce the value of inheritances for their family.

Arranging Wills to set out clients` wishes as to their preferred distribution of their estate.
Will Trusts can also be arranged for couples to give them protection of their assets from legal and financial risks, and offers them more control over what will happen to their estate and assets.

Arranging Powers of Attorney for clients to ensure that they can have assistance legally - from their family or people they trust - with their finances and health/welfare requirements, should the need arise through physical or mental impairment or a serious illness.

Arranging prepaid funeral plans for clients to protect them from the ever-increasing costs of funerals and providing the client with peace of mind that, having arranged their funeral well in advance, they ensure that their family does not have to endure any more "hassle" and stress at what will be a difficult time for them.
