What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Capturing the personality or story of the subject. I would consider myself to be a candid or lifestyle photographer. I want to create photos that capture real life moments rather than "posed" moments. When there is the need for those posed photos, I strive to utilize the setting, pose, lighting, etc. to capture the moment and personality of my subject.
What do you love most about your job?
I am passionate about photography and the work that my not-for-profit Go MAD does bringing Hope and Opportunity to the exploited and vulnerable. I have been able to bring those two passions together in my photography business as the profits help to support the work I do with Go MAD.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It began with deciding that the not-for-profit, Go MAD, that my wife and I founded and I run needed better pictures to communicate the work going on to current and prospective donors. I began to research better cameras, and then how to get the most out of them, and BAM, a passion was born. I had never considered myself to be creative, but the more I learned and the more I shot, I realized that I had a creative side.
