Hands down the best gym I've been to. If you're in to powerlifting, then this is the gym for you! I joined this gym because I was tired of waiting for the squat rack every time I went to my commercial gym, as well as having to clear out floor space to deadlift in areas that aren't designed for it. Chalk it up hasn't disappointed. They have a ton of power racks that can be used for squat or bench, many deadlift platforms, competition style racks, all sorts of different barbells, there's even an area dedicated to Olympic weightlifting (if that's your jam), the list goes on and on.The environment there is equally awesome. All of the staff is super friendly and welcoming to newbies to powerlifting and experienced lifters. Everyone that trains there is cool too. They also offer powerlifting classes from beginner to advanced (I believe) as well as one on one coaching. I took the beginner class and felt like it really solidified my foundation in powerlifting that didn't have before. 100% would recommend this gym to anyone interested in powerlifting and getting stronger! This is my favorite gym I have ever attended. As a woman who is only five feet tall I am often intimidated when I go to the gym and get near the weights and power lifting bars. But not here! Rob who runs the gym was super friendly and welcoming immediately and helped to get me into a beginner's power lifting class with Zac (one of the trainers). I had no clue how much technique and knowledge is required to lift but they helped me every step of the way. The gym is clean, well organized, and every one who goes there is super friendly and helpful. I am now confident enough to go into the gym and lift on my own! I feel so empowered because of these folks. I also love their HIIT class on Friday mornings. The trainers here are nothing but supportive and will help you to get to your goals whatever they may be. I cannot recommend this place enough. It feels very much like I have an extended family at my gym. More...

I have been attending Chalk it Up for almost a year now and I can honestly say I love this gym! Not only does it create a great workout environment, but it also has created a great gym community. If at any time you need help or information, there is someone there to help you. (Even if it is that you are in need of a hair tie  ).This gym also has a wide variety of equipment to make workouts easy and also very creative. I really enjoy coming to this gym and have seen a lot of growth in myself since I have joined. I feel apart of a family here and that I can really reach my fitness goals. More...

Chalk It Up is THE best gym in the North Bay. It is truly unique in the sense that it is not a cookie cutter/generic gym. They make you feel like you are a part of a community and genuinely care about each individual that walks foot into their gym . Not only do they have all the equipment you need, they have a wide variety of extremely knowledgeable coaches and offer super affordable classes to help you learn the basics of powerlifting with focus on your form and technique. I am so thankful that I found this gym. I only wish there were more like it! More...

I wanted to do a review based on a character review of the people involved at this gym, as I work across the street from them, and interact with both Rob (Rhyno) and his clients on almost a daily basis. I've been lifting for the better part of 28 years, and never met a group of more humble people, both with regard to the people who run it, but also the team that lifts, as well as their clients. they look to have everything I would ever want in a gym myself, which I've commented on during chit chat with rob and some of the other guys, but almost as important, is how they carry themselves. To start, Rob is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met, period, and is always super cool and down to earth, and despite being a huge guy, doesn't seem to have a bad bone in his body. Whenever I've popped by to drop off information for him, he's always really welcoming, and I haven't felt out of place stopping by.  The guys who he lifts with (the lift team?) are also super cool and I haven't met a bad guy among them, which says something about all of those guys- all of them are pretty nice, and respectful when they come into my store.  Their clients don't fit any sort of stereotypes which one might typically assign to people involved with fitness or gym life, which also says a lot about the type of people who are attracted to this gym- there's not really the big full of themselves gym-type vibe that some people have at larger gyms, (which can be intimidating for people new to fitness.)  based off of that, and some of the goodies they have for S&C that they have, I'd say you definitely get your money's worth and then some, just for the welcoming environment alone. even if they aren't a huge gym, that, for me, would make it more than worth it if I could afford to train there, and frankly has been enough to inspire me to get back into my own training at home.for what it's worth, I'd say definitely give them a shot, because these guys (clients and owners) are definitely the kind of people you'd want to train with and around, even if you were new to the sport.keep bein' cool guys! This review is long overdue, as I have been a member of this gym since December. You won't find a gym better than this. I was looking for powerllifting gyms in the area because I was interested in competing in my first meet. I connected with Allie, one of the owners, over e-mail, and she is just a doll. Her husband, Rob, the other co-owner, became my coach and trained me for my first powerlifting meet. I couldn't have found a better coach. Allie and Rob are experienced lifters (Rob competes too), and they are smart, hardworking, and talented business owners! Aside from powerlifting, this gym pretty much has everything you need for your style of training - strongman, olympic weighlifting, bodybuilding, sports training, general fitness, etc. with plenty of chalk, machines, and designated areas to squat, bench, deadlift. You won't find a stupid bro here bicep curling in the squat rack. No douchebaggery here. There's personal training here too if you need it.Yes, there is a really cute dog that sits behind the desk!Sorry, there is no locker room, but you're not here to take locker selfies, you're here to lift! The best part is the atmosphere. It's a home away from home; an iron family, if you will. More...
