What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Great photographs of people not only require technical skill and creative energy, but depend heavily on the photographer's ability to interact effectively with the person or persons being photographed. We work with each client in order to make sure that they are comfortable and fully engaged with the process.
Assignments involving inanimate objects require knowledge of lighting, digital technology in the capturing process, and the post capturing processes; however the importance of creativity and experience cannot be over emphasized.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Beyond the who, what, when, and where, of a project, we do our best to understand the expectations of our clients. Some clients know exactly what they want and we do our best to fulfill that vision. Other clients only have a vague notion of how the photographs should appear. In these situations we listen carefully to our clients and share ideas to develop a concept and a plan with which they will be happy.
What do you love most about your job?
I love interacting with interesting people and being able to share some of their life's most important times. In addition we are inspired to capture the joy and happiness of those moments and provide images to be treasured and remembered for years to come.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There is something magical about photographs.
I found great joy in being able to capture pictures of people that they genuinely loved and appreciated.
I began finding that joy in the 1960s and it was just a natural and logical progression of events that lead me to start my own business.
