Great result! We had a large L shape dormer, I had a lot of specific requests in terms of the design and the finish of the rooms and CLL accommodated everything I asked for, Renatas was very good at communication, always responsive. Central London Lofts completed our project in February this year and I can definitely say that we are happy with the final results. From Huw to Renatas to Minde, and everyone in between, Central London Lofts are professional, open and everything is transparent.At the initial meeting with Huw he gave us advice that enhanced the project and has allowed us to have not only a loft room with en suite but also an extension, creating a very good sized fourth bedroom. Something we didn’t think possible. Plus, he dealt directly with some tricky neighbour issues for us and we really felt supported. When Minde and his team started the works, we were amazed at how quickly things progressed. Minde listened to us and made sure we had the space we wanted, giving good advice throughout. We can’t give him enough praise. Again, Minde dealt with potential tricky neighbour issues directly so we didn’t have to get involved, was great with our dogs and was fantastic when interacting with an ageing father who was in the house throughout the works. We had issues with electrics, its an old house, which the team worked tirelessly to rectify late one Saturday evening. Plus, all workmen thoroughly tidied up after themselves.Renatas was extremely attentive and never ignored a call or email, and always answered promptly. Believe me, I am very inquisitive and cautious so there were many questions. He listened and I felt like I was heard.General advice for anyone looking to take on a project like this, with no reflection on Central London Lofts, would be to really think about the timing for such works. We were keen to get the job done so the project straddled the Christmas period which impacted it slightly. Although Minde and his team worked everyday possible over the period, which we really appreciated, there was a knock-on to other trades that was out of the control of Central London Lofts, so keep in mind that there is potential for slight delays around this time. Plus, it can get rather cold too.I would also suggest that you do research into the process and the different communication streams that need to be maintained – is the plumber coordinating with the electrician, for example? To get the completed project you envisage, you need to be involved and be comfortable and confident enough to speak-up at the right time to make sure there is no abortive work or additional cost that could have been avoided. You do not need to be a project manager by trade, just really understand what you want and be able to communicate this clearly. As mentioned, the Central London Lofts team are extremely transparent and are happy to walk their clients through things.Also, make sure you understand the level of finish you will be getting at the end of the project. We opted to have our own decorator do the finishing, as he has been working through the whole house for us, and have Central London Lofts just do the build so we were fully aware of what extra was needed to get the space ready for painting etc. If you chose this option, keep in mind that there will be a lot of preparation work before you can put your chosen colour of paint on the freshly plastered walls or gloss on the woodwork. The build is the build, finishing is a completely different beast. Of course, the test of time is yet to be determined but the build seems solid with no creaking or leaks. The base project was brought in on budget, with the only addition being a change of the number of spot lights we wanted and we had to replace the roof tiles, which we were advised on and shown where the issues were. Again, fully transparent so we could make an informed decision – the roof hadn’t been touched in 30 years so we assumed this would be the case anyway and the cost was very reasonable. Throughout the project, from the initial survey and quote, to the finishing touches, Renatas and his team worked exceptionally hard and carried out that work to high standards. The salesperson was the most relaxed and informative of several companies we had quotes from. The architect was helpful and concise. Alex, the foreman, often worked seven days a week, was polite and extremely patient when faced with our barrage of questions. We were impressed very early on when Alex arrived at 8am on a Sunday morning to add extra rain proofing to the roof. This pattern of going the extra mile was repeated throughout the build and we were very impressed by the entire company’s dedication to giving good service. Communication was good, we never felt shut out of the process. Renatas and his team remained flexible throughout the build, incorporating some fairly major design changes at the last minute with a really can-do attitude and no complaints at the extra work. We have two small children and the team often worked at weekends when we were home; the whole team were polite and made every effort to disrupt life as little as possible. Our neighbours, who are in during the week, were also very pleased with the minimal disruption. Most importantly, now the job is finished, we are extremely pleased with the results. Everything is finished to a high standard, and our house is so much better for it. Used Central London Lofts for a loft conversion on a maisonette in Putney after a recommendation from a friend. They exceeded expectations, the work was done very professionally and to a very high standard. The conversion took under 6 weeks from start to finish and carried out by a highly dedicated team from the architect to the main builder to the plumber, electricians, plasterers and scaffolders, All queries were replied to promptly by the project manager and the very few snags that occurred with dealt with within a couple of days. Just wanted to follow up on my original video testimony on CLL's website.It's worth a shout out to David and Renatas @ CLL that 8 years after doing our loft they came out to review an issue that we had around some cracking in our ceiling which turned out to be a non issue. I think this a testament to the integrity of the team at CLL- still responsive 8 years on and stand by their 10 year guarantee of work. Very impressed with CLL, they completed out loft conversion in early January having only started in late November. Quality was not sacrificed with speed, the whole process was exactly as the sales manager had advised. The work was completed by a very friendly highly dedicated team. There was no need to move out of the properly doing the short time that it took for them to complete the work. We leave down a small pedestrianised road which I thought could have posed some issues and delays for access and disposal. CLL worked around this without a single issue or complaint. CLL recently completed our loft conversion and we are delighted with the result. A dark loft filled with years worth of 'stuff' has been transformed into a fantastic space with a fab view. The team are so efficient and every day that they were on site (which at times included weekends) was maximised to the full. They started early, were no bother and made efforts to come before we went to work so we could discuss whatever was necessary. Our loft was complete within 8 weeks and that included updating the staircase throughout the house and fitting extra fire doors.I found the transformation amazing to see each day and was always surprised by the speed of the progress (quality was not compromised). Whenever there were snags or things to be addressed, our project manager was very responsive and quick to sort it out. The electricians, plumber, plasterers as well as the main team were fantastic and we got what we wanted, on time and for a good price. I just had a loft conversion done by Central London Lofts in South London. The main construction work was 5 weeks from start to finish. Their teams were professional, hard working, responsible and helpful, starting every day before 8am and often worked until late to get the work done. Special thanks to lead builder Misha, Mat, the electrical and plumbing teams. The quality of the work were excellent, approved by building control first time. And to Mr. Barry the contacts manager worked hard to keep all on track. When there was a problem was at the end of the phone but 9 times out of ten came straight over. He has a good mind for the building works and lots of experience.Any extra work ie. the roof was agreed before work started and price given was within the going rate.The small things also helped making it a good experience, including the plumber who took time out to run me to the shop to get an extra part to complete a job and the plasterers who took time to clean up at the end of each day. I am very happy with the overall design, it's spacious and balanced. The roof and the gable wall are also very beautiful! Many thanks to everyone for their hard work! Central London Lofts completed our loft conversion this summer. We dealt with Huw pre-contract, who was very good and always at hand to answer our questions - particularly in light of numerous additional queries from our mortgage provider in relation to the proposed works. Once the works were underway, our main builder was Alex who worked incredibly hard throughout the entire build. He was polite and took care to keep the house as clean and tidy as reasonably possible. There were "hiccups" but most problems were attended to promptly. Some of these incidents could have been avoided in the first place, which would have made for less stress but the important thing is that they were identified and resolved as soon as possible. Other tradesmen (electricians, plasterers etc) were also polite and professional but not always as tidy!Our Project Manager was Renatas who did his best to respond to the constant texts and WhatsApp messages from me. He was polite and professional at all times and keen to ensure we were as happy as possible. Overall, I think we met him once every fortnight or so but we communicated most of the time through WhatsApp or phone so were always in touch.Overall, we are happy with the works - we have a slightly squeaky floorboard at one end of our rooms but nothing major. Otherwise, everything else seems OK thus far. This said, our loft only recently completed so the true test of quality / workmanship will be how it stands up over time particularly as we approach the cold and wet winter months. As at today, I would recommend Central London Lofts but people considering a loft conversion regardless of who they appoint must be aware that works of this nature will inevitably throw challenges at you and it requires more time and patience than you might initially expect. Unless you are very brave, I think a loft conversion requires a significant amount of your own time to help project manage and ensure you get the result that you want. More...
