We want to say a big, massive thank you to Ryan and Aaron who were so kind and gentle and compassionate throughout the attended cremation for our 2 cats, Phoebe and Mickey. We went for the attended cremation for both our pets (one half an hour after the other in the same place but different cremation chambers suitable for cats) as we wanted to see the chambers and make sure our pets ashes would be kept separate from each other, and also from other pets.) Well we had no worries, we attended the placing of our much loved pets in their separate chambers and also the removal of our pets ashes. Ryan and Aaron were very sensitive in brushing up all of our pets ashes on both occasions, and in a sensitive, respectful and a kind way. We were also concerned that as our pets had previously been buried and then interred that this would be a problem, but no it wasn’t, the Chestnut Lodge were happy to accommodate. Also, the lovely staff on the phone who I rang up initially to inquire about cremations were endlessly patient as I had many questions as I wanted to get it right for our lovely pets. We wanted to get it right, and we did, we were not rushed in any way, or made to feel silly and we will definitely be using Chestnut Lodge again. The actual crematorium is in a very peaceful, quiet area surrounded by woodland and is very tranquil. Thank you so much, especially to Ryan and Aaron for their kindness to our pets and to ourselves. I lost my gorgeous daxie millie to lymphoma at the age of just 6 and was devestated as she was such a character, and a crowd puller.

I was offered the cremation services by my vet when she was diagnosed. I didn't look at the info as didn't want to think about it as we still had a few months hopefully. She was gjven 3mths but managed 6 mths.

Eventually i had to look at arrangements for her cremation, and although the one offered through my vet was the cheapest i dident get a good feel about them after reading reviews and realising that their services were more than just cremation/burial.

Based on reviews i contacted chestnut lodge and spoke to Stephen. I found him to be plesent and kind and he did not pressure me
into going with his company. Me being indecisive i thanked him and said our I'd get back. I wanted the individual cremation but ,but was worrying over the cost as it is a lot of money for me. After mulling it over i decided so go with chestnut lodge as i felt they were going to deliver a first class service. They collected her the nxt day as
promised, and fulfilled their promises with regards to her return to me. She was handed to me by the delivery man care, which meant a lot.

I wanted to be there to say goodbye, and to know that millie was Handled with care. But im confident that she was, and have no regrets. In fact im glad i chose them. And Will use again but not for sometime i hope.

Thank you to Stephen and staff.

I took my ginger boy Hizzy to Chestnut Lodge on the 26th June. Chestnut Lodge were incredibly accommodating with booking as I wasn't sure if the vet would agree it was time just the day before. Sadly, they did, and this surreal numbing realisation swept over me. The vet experience could have been better, but that made my decision to take him home afterward the best decision ever. From the moment I booked with Chestnut Lodge on the phone I knew that this too was the right decision. The whole experience was comforting, peaceful and respectful. All my wishes were taken into account and understood. I paid extra for the attended cremation as I felt seeing him physically through the process was something I owed him for 15 years seeing me through all my 'stuff'. I also needed that extra confidence that he would be cremated on his own and I would receive only his ashes. At no point did I feel something could have been done differently, nor do I feel that now. It was as perfect as I wanted and needed it to be. It's a longish process so I sat in the pet cemetery, which is peaceful and in its own way, quite beautiful. I highly recommend Chestnut Lodge and thank you to all of you there for helping me to say goodbye. Miss you loads baby boy. Hizzy - 17/08/2003 - 25/06/2018 More...

I have nothing but great appreciation for the highest level of service I received from this company, my beloved cat's body was collected with such care and cremated on the same day of her death AND I received her ashes back the very next day, I was in so much pain when my cat's body was collected and became overly emotional, but Kim (who came to collect/deliver) was there to comfort me all the way through and I was able to spend enough time to say goodbye to my cat for the very last time without being rushed or else, she offered me kind words and gave me hugs when I was crying so hard and even told me about her own experience with her cats who passed away and that really stays with me until now I really wish my cat would do the same for me - it's become my little wish now and something to look forward to, once my cat was collected, not long after in the evening, they called me and let me know that my cat is about to be cremated and that really meant a lot to me, next day delivery was arranged without any problem and it was delivered so promptly and presented in such a lovely way I felt extremely lucky for having my cat being looked after from them, from start to finish, I simply can not praise enough of the service I received, they took care of things in the most efficient way possible with genuine care and understanding, thank you greatly for everything.

We took him the next morning, and from pulling into the gates the calmness of the place was evident, we placed him in a room rather like you would expect with a human, and were given all the time that we needed to say goodbye, we felt as comfortable as you can be leaving a baby somewhere strange, and were told when he would be ready to come home. I cannot recommend these people enough. My world changed forever when my baby girl was taken from me on 18th November. Not only had my heart been smashed to pieces, I then discovered it was because the vets overdosed her and killed her. When I took her to the vets dead, they said they'd give me options but instead shoved a leaflet in my hand to have her cremated and gave me a hefty bill. Honey was my baby. She wasn't just a dog! So I wanted what was best for her. After some research, I found out the company the vets offered me dispose of their waste and God only knows what remains you get back! In my mind this is disgusting and vets should be ashamed for offering this as ANY option, let alone the only option! Heartbroken, I looked to see if there were any other options. After all I'd been through and after having lost all my trust in everyone, I skeptically came across Chestnut Lodge. I honestly cannot gush about them more if I tried. They collected Honey from the vets (which was nowhere near them). They gave me the option if I wanted to see her or not. I was quite worried about this, as I didn't want my last memory to be of her not looking like her. They had laid her out in her bed and she looked so beautiful. She looked that peaceful, I just wanted to shake her to wake her up. They'd put her in her bed which they knew was super important to me. They let me spend as much time as I wanted with her. I had a big obsession that I wanted a mould of her nose and they bent over backwards to do it even though it wasn't something they normally offered. They gave me prints of her nose and paw to cherish. I couldn't do it but they allowed my partner to watch her be cremated to ease my mind, so we knew it was definitely her I was getting back. I honestly cannot tell you how much kindness and thought they put into their service. Putting her prints in personalised presentation cards, putting her moulds in beautiful boxes. I haven't even said everything wrong the vets did but I could go on and on about the incredible effort Chestnut Lodge made to counteract the vets disgusting actions. I can honestly not thank you enough. You let me say goodbye to my baby one last time and I have beautiful prints to remember her by. My last memory of her now is her sleeping. You eased what was the worst pain in my life. You could take advantage of grieving people if you really wanted but in my eyes, you don't charge enough for what you do. They don't do their job to make money off people, they do it for the love of animals. You're incredibly kind. I'm eternally grateful to you and I'm sorry this review doesn't do even half the justice you deserve. Thank you so much xxx

For anyone grieving right now reading this, I'm so sorry for the unbearable pain you're going through right now but honestly don't think twice about going to Chestnut Lodge.

I chose Chestnut lodge over other more local pet crematoriums as I felt that the transparency on pricing on their website and information supplied was the best on offer. I simply wished to know the cost rather then seeking a cheaper service, another site I visited I could not find any prices and another It was hard to find them, I wanted to feel confident that my companion of 18 years would be cremated separately and would be safe to get back to me.
I initially planned to bring Chiro to the Crematorium and have a same day cremation however I could not face this in the end and chose to have him collected from the Vet and then collected by a friend.
Chiro's cremains have been packed as requested in two separate tins, one with half and one with two quarters for different memorial options.

Once the cremation has finished all the remains are meticulously collected. The ashes are then carefully handled according to your wishes.

Where pets are placed in the cremation chamber in the company of other pets. Further cremations are normally added to the chamber during the day. After the final cooling period (usually the next morning) the ashes are swept from the hearth and transferred to the Cemetery where they are placed into a grave.

There is a memorial bed alongside where plaques may be placed. You are welcome to visit.

No ashes from communal cremations may be returned to you, however you may request a cutting of fur or a paw print before the cremation takes place. The fur sample may also be placed into jewellery or a keepsake as a lasting memento.
