My wife and I along with another couple stayed at the Cawdor last Friday, the hotel was busy as it was the Festival of Senses weekend in Llandeilo, lovely room with a huge bed and a powerful shower over the bath. Breakfast was excellent we can highly recommend the full Welsh , freshly cooked to order. On the Friday evening the was live music which was excellent bringing a great atmosphere to the bar area. There is also free parking at the rear of the hotel but if this is your first visit it's worth stopping at the hotel of phoning for directions as you can easily miss the Turing into the car park.We would highly recommend staying at the Cawdor and will return ourselves. I would recommend the Cawdor as a place to visit simply for its warmth and splendour and Sunday lunch is delicious but the afternoon tea was disappointing. Our order was one short and it took quite some time to sort that out. The selection was very nice but we had eaten all the sandwiches before there was any sign of anything to drink so we had to go and ask for it. When the drinks finally arrived they were not correct, but what was most disappointing is that throughout the time we were there no-one came to ask how things were or if we would like more tea or drinks (which is unlimited) so each time we needed something someone had to go and look for table service. Not ideal. I'd like to add that the waitress who took our order was very friendly and pleasant. More...

We had a fabulous nights stay here for my partners 50th birthday. I’d arranged for Igam Ogam (nearby balloon shop) to deliver a load of balloons to the hotel prior to our visit which the staff kindly put in our room and dining room. ||The room was lovely and big, with high ceilings and a 4 poster bed, we paid an extra £30 to upgrade so would recommend doing this. ||The food was beautiful, I had the belly pork which was amazing and put me into a complete food coma afterwards. Also the Merlins Creme Brûlée......oh my days, lush. ||Staff were brilliant, hotel is gorgeous, food fantastic. All in all, a great stay, topped off with a falling of snow which made it truly magical. | More...

We spent four nights at The Cawdor on a recent visit to Wales, chosen because it was a full-service hotel in a small town centrally located in southern Wales. Little did we know what a wonderful experience was in store for us. ||||Even before we left the US, the ladies at the reception desk were amazingly helpful. Not only did they suffer the usual questions about parking (yes), laundry facilities (no), gym (no, but there are places nearby), and other amenities, but they enthusiastically helped me set things up to celebrate my wife's birthday while there. They went out of there way to enlist the assistance of a nearby florist to have a small bouquet of flowers in our suite on check in, and went further to have sparkling wine and cookies there as well. ||||The excellent service didn't end there. From the moment we walked through the front door, the receptionist went out of her way to welcome us to the hotel. Our suite was in an adjacent building rather than in the main hotel building, so she walked us over and helped us up with our luggage. The suite was enormous, with a bedroom and a sitting room in addition to the large ensuite bath equipped with both a large soaking tub and a separate shower stall. The sitting room had a small refrigerator, a microwave, toaster, and not only a kettle but also a small coffee maker. The cabinets were fully stocked with dishes and glassware as well as silverware and accessories (corkscrews and bottle openers, for example).||||And then there's the food. Simply amazing. There's a pub and a restaurant, each with its own menu, but with some crossover. Breakfast was included in our room rate, and everything we tried was excellent. The black sausage in their full Welsh breakfast was the best we had the whole time we were in Wales. I should also mention that the restaurant has its own team of bakers. All of the breads, croissants, and rolls served in the restaurant are baked fresh on premises. Crisp crusts and delicious. The dinner menus in both the restaurant and pub were fantastic, and the wine list in the restaurant was perfect. Not huge, but full of great wines at good prices. ||||The lounge has a large fireplace and seems to be a gathering place not only for guests but also locals. At least a couple of nights during our stay we met folks local to the area and sat and chatted for a long time. A much more pleasant way to spend an evening than sitting in your room watching television. ||||This is a fantastic little hotel, and you should treat yourself to a stay there as soon as possible. We can't wait for our next opportunity to visit with our new friends there. More...

Spacious and fairly child friendly for a morning coffee. The service was extremely slow but polite and friendly. The Welsh cakes were lovely and my children enjoyed the hot chocolate with marshmallows. Such a shame that Llandeilo can come across a bit snooty at times and the locals eyed us with suspicious looks, refusing to make room for us on any sofas so we had to sit with the kids by the bar. Little did they know that I grew up around here and expected this... 20 years later nothing changes.||I would recommend this resteraunt for the quality of the food and the way the staff treated us but be aware you may have to be a bit less of a soft hearted character.
