I hired caterman catering for my husbands surprise birthday party this past weekend. I had a wonderful experience with them, starting with Kayla. We used Caterman Catering for our wedding. Kayla was great to work with and helped make some of the projects I wanted for the wedding a reality. Caterman did an excellent job of handling special diets. We had a number of guests with severe allergies or restrictions, and there was no problem with making sure our guests were taken care of. Our tasting was very fun, and representative of the dishes we were served at the wedding.

We did, however, have a few small issues. The biggest was that a server cleared my sister's plate while she was still eating--she had her fork in her hand. We also requested certain cheeses for the cheeseboard, which was noted in our contract, but weren't provided. Some of the appetizers ran out very quickly and guests were disappointed that they didn't get to try them. I changed a dish after the tasting, and the dish we received was nothing like it was described on the menu. At a minimum, it said it had parsley but there was nothing green on my plate. I would recommend making sure to try every dish you would like to serve at the tasting.

Overall, our guests very much enjoyed the food. It was nice to have a caterer who took care of the rentals, so we didn't have to add an additional vendor. More...

Caterman helped cater my wedding at Picchetti Winery last week. We worked with Kayla, who was AMAZING and knew the venue inside and out. Because Picchetti's tasting room is open on Saturdays to the public, there was a very small 2 hour window when all of the setup for the wedding had to occur. Kayla made sure that everything was setup perfectly and efficiently, exactly the way that I wanted it. And then the food! We chose Caterman because of the great food we had at the tasting but weren't sure if they would be able to scale that up to the 90 guests we had. The feedback we got from our guests was that the food was phenomenal - something that is somewhat unusual for a wedding. 5 star review to combat the negative review a bridezilla wrote (Sau Y) 6 months ago. Lol this chick enjoys writing negative reviews and she also claims that food poisoning takes place within a half an hour of eating! Food poisoning claim was NOT for this company, it was a Ethiopian restaurant that Marc Zuckerberg frequents. Sorry folks, but anyone with a quarter of a brain knows that food poisoning takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours for symptoms to appear. Sorry but yelp shouldn't be used by people to smeer businesses. Caterman provided the best experience at my wedding! We have about 400 guests and they provided great service and delicious food! My family and friends could not believe how great the food was because it's hard to reach that level of perfection when cooking for 400. Ruth is incredible she is super helpful and makes sure that your wedding goes smoothly which is always helpful for a busy stressed bride! Blanca is amazing! I have been working with Caterman for over a year now and they are always a pleasure to work with! Kayla, the catering coordinator, is amazing at what she does and is always looking to provide the best level of service to our company. We use their catering services at least once every two weeks and the food is always great and consistent. They're very transparent with their pricing/costs and are very flexible in terms of service. They are Excellent in Food, Setting and Serving.   This is the 2nd time we have used them. 1st was my daughter's wedding for 200+ people at our house last summer.   2nd was this month for my company's investors and board dinner at my house.  Again the food was excellent.  They provided an assortment of wonderful hot appetizers and the they walked around with trays to serve our guests.  The appetizers and main dishes included some delicious vegan dishes, required by attendees.  The crew was prompt, professional and very attentive during the entire dinner...making sure that everything was very nicely presented.  They BBQ'd tri-tip on site, which was perfectly done, moist and delicious, with 3 amazing sauces! My wife and I spent hours of researching, reading reviews, and talking to different vendors hoping to find that one catering company that has great food and service for our wedding.  We decided to go with Catering Caterman.  They have the perfect blend of Asian Fusion food that both myself and my wife had enjoyed at the food tasting and at the event.  Their prices were reasonable.  Michelle was the sale/event coordinator at the time and she was quite wonderful to work with.  She was very responsive and was able to meet every demands that we made.  She helped us fit the food menu to our budget.As with all weddings, nothing is perfect and there were some short falls.  Blanca was the staff manager at the time.  I had many guests complained that she was unfriendly and rude.  There were chaos and delays to the food delivery logistics since we went with the individually served meals.  We weren't very happy at the time but what turned everything around was the event after our wedding.  Many businesses simply ended their relationship with the customers once the transactions was made but Kayla followed-up to our complaints and addressed the situation.  We were compensated for the trouble but it was more satisfying to know she understood where it went wrong.  She outlined and promised the action items to be taken so future events would sail more smoothly.My initial rating for Caterman Catering started out with neutral and I would prefer going with a well established catering company for the experiences.  What made Caterman Catering stood out was listening to customer's feedback and being that it's family operated.  I had a chance to connect with them at a personal level while resolving my complaints.  Not all family owned businesses care what customers think but Caterman is among the few who does and for that I gave them my current rating due to Blanca's attitude toward my guests.  I strongly believed that my next event with Caterman would yield a much more positive results and experiences. This is the one review I've been dying to review since the conclusion of our wonder day and it couldn't have happened without Caterman.  From the very beginning, Caterman has been so accommodating and professional with their services.  Not only that, we really couldn't have pulled it off without the help of their coordinator, Kayla, who also provided day of coordination services.We've consulted with quite a few caterers and we were so lucky to find Caterman.  Caterman provided very reasonable prices and the food was superb.  Instead of the traditional buffet or selection of dishes served (fish, chicken, beef), we opted for theme stations to satisfy all of our guests dietary needs.  Fisherman's Wharf for seafood, Chinatown for Asian food, Haight for vegan food, North Beach for Italian food, and Castro for meats.  Caterman went with the idea and executed it perfectly and everyone is still raving about the food.  They were generous in portions and we even had leftovers to take back to our hotel's after party.  And the service on that day was tremendous.  We chose a venue that had quite strict requirements with the setup and cleanup hours and Caterman set up on time and did all the setup for my decorations.  We dropped off a lot of decorations go Kayla and alcohol as well (they provide licensed bartenders) so we were able to provide open bar all night long. Not only that, our venue was in SF and Caterman went all the way up from San Jose and set everything up perfectly.  Btw, did I mention I'm very particular about the details and pretty much a control freak?!?I could go on and on about how wonderful Caterman is but the pictures may do it more justice.  I wish I took more pictures of the food!  If only they were closer to my work, I would demand work to have them as our catering vendor!  Thank you so much Kayla, Semin, and the entire team for making the best day of our life! Long time Yelper, first time reviewer.  I just used Caterman to cater a client appreciation breakfast and am compelled to write a review based on my experience.  They were absolutely fantastic.  They put together my event with less than a week's notice; the customer service on the pre-event was great; and most importantly - the food was even better.  They served up an epic breakfast burrito bar for more than 50 people.  My clients arrived to a great-looking spread and the burritos tasted even better than they looked.I won't hesitate to use Caterman Catering for future client or personal events.  Great job Ruth, Jose and team! I have NEVER had to call for a catering service before until I had to plan a celebration of life reception.  From the first phone call I was worried since almost every where else I called were booked due to the holiday season.  But after I contacted Michelle at Caterman's Catering she was amazing!!!  She helped me through what to pick what they had and gave me three different menus all which were amazing!!  We went for the 3 variety cold cut sandwiches 2 salads and desserts and beverages.  I was amazed at the presentation of my Dad's backyard as were my guests and the food was amazing as well!!!  The servers who stayed for the event were great I had no idea they were going to stay it was really really impressive!!  If I EVER need a catering service again I know who to call!!  Thanks to Michelle and Caterman Catering for making my event run so smoothly!!! Thank you to Caterman Catering for putting together a beautiful and delicious spread of food for our wedding. Here is a little background on our wedding and our search parameters: we had 200 guests, it was being held at a private residence, we were looking to rent all the tables/chairs/linens/heaters/etc. from this company, and we were wanting to feature several different types of food with food stations during our reception. Searching for a caterer for our reception that matched these parameters and was within our price range seemed impossible and was the most stressful part of the wedding planning process. Then I met Michelle. She was SO accommodating and helpful! The first question she asked me was my budget and from there she helped me figure out what rental or food items we could cut out in order to meet that budget. She even gave us recommendations on where to find better deals than what she could offer on certain items. I had established a great rapport with Michelle and when she became ill just a few weeks before the wedding, I became very nervous that everything was going to fall apart. However, Michelle had organized everything and passed it on to a brilliant coworker, Blanca! Blanca seamlessly stepped right into the role. My walk through with her was honestly perfect and alleviated all of my fears with her answering questions for me that I didn’t even know to ask! On our wedding day the Caterman Catering staff created our dream reception! We featured foods from Italy, Mexico, the Middle East and the U.S. and to enhance the look of the tables, Blanca brought decorations from her own home to spice up the displays! They were spectacular! This 5 Star review is way overdue and my husband, Max and I can't express how grateful we were to have found Caterman Catering and to have had an amazing Catering Coordinator, Kayla on top of that. From the get go, Kayla was very responsive to my initial inquiry, questions I had, and she provided us different menus to work within our budget and Spanish style theme. She also invited us in for a complimentary tasting and being an event planner myself, a "complimentary tasting" is unheard of in the bay area.  They provided some of the rentals as well (table linens, chairs) and had many beautiful options for the china and utensils. Even though they are located in San Jose, Kayla drove all the way to San Juan Bautista for our walk-through of the venue a month before the wedding to make sure she had all the details in place for the set up, tear down, etc.On the day of our wedding, everything was set up beautifully (some things not exactly as I had wanted ex.) placement of Escort Card table and Sign In table, but hey! That was no biggie!  The passed appetizers and cheese display (which Kayla accommodated graciously -I am such a cheese lover, so I asked for a couple of my favorite cheeses and Kayla accommodated without any extra charges) were yummy! The Spanish Buffet was exactly presented how we envisioned and guests kept on raving about how delicious and plentiful the dinner was.The staff was on top of everything and very pleasant! Clearing plates and keeping the tables as clean as possible for dinner and then kept things clean inside the venue for dancing. They were also very helpful at the end of the night with gathering left over favors and also helped me gather the linens (keeping them separate) as I had rented out some linens and table runners on my own from another vendor.Thank you again to Kayla and her staff for making our dream wedding come true! Caterman Catering is amazing! We had an office party with 150 people. Michelle was so helpful and really helped guide me through the process. The team that came to our event was UNREAL... they were pros. The setup was beautiful and didn't take much time. They made my life so much easier. Throughout the party they made sure everything looked clean and beautiful! They cleaned everything up at the end and wrapped all the leftovers and put them in the fridge. Although we did not end up using Caterman Catering for our upcoming event, I need to review the customer service Michelle offered, because it was. ..AMAZING!I found Caterman Catering in my search for a catering company for an upcoming executive off-site meeting. Michelle was patient with all of my questions, with my menu requests - a last minute request of Biscuits and Gravy from the CEO - and overall working with me to potentially get service for this meeting. We ended up going with a different venue with on-site catering, but I would choose Caterman Catering for personal events moving forward simply based on Michelle and her patience, attentiveness, creativity, and event insight. I had countless people tell me that the food at the wedding tasting will not be as good as the wedding day. I'm thankful to say that was not the case with Caterman Catering! We had our wedding reception and ceremony in September 2017 at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga for 160+ people -- everything was perfect, and it is in large part due to Kayla and Caterman Catering. From the beginning, Kayla was extremely professional, knowledgeable,  and hugely helpful in assisting us with staying in our budget, curating our dinner menu, navigating our venue, providing guidance with our timeline, suggesting vendors, and our DIY ideas. On our wedding weekend, we dropped of our decorations and DIY floral arrangements, and Kayla and the Caterman Catering team handled the rest. They did a fantastic job decorating our venue and helped make our DIY ideas come to life, such as our doughnut wall and dessert table. Their licensed bartenders also kept the drinks flowing and made good use of our ice sculpture luge. Now onto the food! We had a massive buffet for our reception, which included: *Romaine spears with traditional caesar dressing and shaved parmesan cheese*Roasted tri-tip with a trio of sauces -- this was a favorite among our guests since there were no leftovers! *Sage breaded boneless chicken breast with a dijon butter sauce *Ricotta filled tortellini with spring mushrooms, asparagus and a chardonnay butter sauce -- this was my favorite! *Roasted yukon gold potatoes*Blue lake green beans with roma tomatoes and roasted shallot oil*Ricotta filled tortellini with spring mushrooms, asparagus and a chardonnay butter sauce*Macaroni and cheese and chicken strips for the kids*Doughnuts, churros, and horchata for dessertOur guests loved the food, were well fed, and had such a great time. We had an outdoor venue for my daughter's wedding. Caterman Catering was an absolute joy to work with. Blanca and her crew were nothing but professional, they were polite and everything we went over she/they accomplished. My guest raved about their food, it was absolutely delicious. And unfortunately I had hired a Wedding Coordinator that was completely unprofessional! Who had left two hours early and left me in a hardship place. Without Blanca's help I would've had to travel back that evening which would've put me into the early hours of the morning, for the wedding ended at midnight and 30 minutes from my home.  Blanca went to the extreme at the end of the evening taking some items in her personal vehicle and delivering them to me the next day! I 100% recommend Caterman Catering for your event! Also I'd like to mention that the sales person Michelle, who was my main contact at the beginning. She fell ill and connected me with Blanca but never was out of contact with me the whole time! I have worked with Caterman on several weddings but have to say that at the most recent one they were SUPER ROCK STARS especially Mike the banquet captain.  We were all working at a private estate and it hit 102 degrees in the June heat.  Although there were tents for the guests, all the running around setting up and resetting areas was already a lot to handle but then you add all that heat to the mix and things could have gone south pretty quick if not for Mike and the excellent Caterman staff.  They can LITERALLY take the heat and come out shining -  albeit with sweat but shining nonetheless!Oh ya, and the food was DELICIOUS and the best fried chicken ever!  I love working with them and will continue to call on them for my events.  Give them a try and see for yourself :o)Patty SpeirsEvery Last Detail Wedding & Event Coordination More...

Boy, was I in trouble - needing to find a catering company for a VERY selective group of volunteers! Yelp reviews did not disappoint, let me run down for you my experience:-Called Michelle, and within a day had a quote. Was within my budget, had ample variety, and with a few tweaks had the menu I was hoping for selected and booked.-The guys showed up early, prepared, and put out a beautiful spread, keeping in mind my color palette and audience.-The food was AMAZING, we had more than enough, and people (darn near) fought over taking home leftovers.-The guys returned to clean up and left the place spotless.Would I go here again? Caterman was the first choice my husband and I wanted for our wedding based on the Yelp reviews, and we were SO glad our fellow Yelpers didn't let us down! My husband (then fiancé) arrived at the Caterman kitchen and we were greeted by Michelle who was warm and enthusiastic to have us for the tasting. The pleasant, delightful surprise to both my husband and me was we were served the full course - two appetizers, two entrees, salad, sides, and then dessert as another surprise! Michelle reassured us that plenty of couples come not knowing they would get the full course, so she ended up nearly boxing everything for us to take home and enjoy as another meal.But I digress - the food itself was AMAZING. The following was what we chose for our wedding:Petite tomato and mozzarella skewers with pesto dipping sauce - simple but fantastic! My husband's parents and mine aren't really into fusion food, and they'll usually chose to eat something they know rather than dig into something new. So the skewers delicious and the pesto sauce made it perfect!The second appetizer (which we loved during the tasting) was the mango & shrimp ragout in phyllo cup with fresh cilantro. The whole thing was gone before happy hour ended. That's how amazing these were! Our families also greatly enjoyed the complimentary cheese and fresh fruit tray. For our dinner buffet, our choice of entree were the pan seared salmon (everyone LOVED this - some went back for seconds!) and the herb crusted pork loin (also a family favorite and cooked just right - tender and flavorful). The Sonoma mix greens, whipped potatoes, and vegetable medley all went perfectly with the entrees. Everyone definitely took a little bit of something first, then went back for seconds to get their favorites!Lastly, we absolutely loved the staff because everyone was smiling! We also appreciated the chef walking us through the process of what happens to the food after the event (because one does wonder) and great to see him as well as his staff making sure all our waters were filled and tables cleared. What I greatly appreciate Caterman overall is the patience and their ability to communicate in a concise manner. Up to our wedding date, I bombarded poor Michelle with a number of questions which could have been solved at a much earlier date. But Michelle was very patient, knowing that I've never had the experience working with a caterer in my life, and she would follow up with me to ensure that everything was checked off on our To-Do list.I would highly recommend Caterman for not only your wedding, but any kind of event.
