The food was petty good but our server took forever to give us a check and it was kind of a lot of money. I would go back again,  but hopefully the service will be better.

I've frequented both locations of this place and have enjoyed both. Great margaritas and not-terrible food. Try the watermelon basil during the summer- you won't regret it! I had the carna asada burrito here and it was soooo good, especially with their diablo hot sauce. the service was good and fast-- and my metro card fell out of my pocket and the waiter with the blonde hair and glasses ran a block in the rain to give it to me. i had a great experience here. the only negative thing is my mom said the fish tacos didn't have much flavor-- but the shrimp and steak tacos were both great. i would come here again. This place is SO good I couldn't even wait to leave before I posted this review. First off it's quiet and CLEAN. It probably gets more full later on in the evening/night for the after work crowd. Delicious dinner last night! Had the best burrito ever...Carnitas burrito, yum! We also got horchata (also delicious) and really great churros for dessert. Food tasted fresh and light, so good! I grabbed lunch at Cascabel Taqueria during a workshop at Columbia, and the taqueria's location made it perfect for a quick escape from Columbia's campus. My friend and I sat outside and had very good service while we were there. We both got beers (I was pleasantly surprised to see Flower Power from Ithaca Beer Company on tap!). For our main, we got 2 carnitas tacos, 2 camarones tacos, and 2 Baja fish tacos. My favorite was the Baja fish, but all were very good! The only thing a bit off-putting was the fact that the 2 tacos deal couldn't be mixed and matched. Great food and service! This restaurant is always a hit whether you dine in or order for delivery which I do often. The tacos, although pricey, are delicious. The Baja Fish tacos are to die for, and so are the Shrimp ones. I love all the taco combinations which are very far from basic. The elote asado is another favorite of mine and I love that its grilled whereas other restaurants just boil the corn. They also have the best sweet potato fries, I don't know what makes them so good but its probably the cotija cheese *mouth waters*. They have a few awesome specials throughout the week - happy hour is fun but Mondays are best as they have a deal of 4 tacos + a beer/sangria for $22. Its pretty good considering that most tacos are over $4 a piece on the regular menu. As for drinks, the watermelon and pomegranate margaritas are a must-try as well. I am so happy with the choice we made to come here. It's 10:00pm and we just left a comedy show on Riverside Dr. Due to rushing to the show we skipped diner, we were left famished. We ordered something quick, Tacos- I had Baja Fish and he had (of course) steak tacos. 2/$10 and 3/$14. They were delicious especially because they came quick. Such a great compliment to our spicy Watermelon margaritas. Because I checked in, we received FREE dessert- 1 order of some of thee most scrumptious Churros I have ever eaten. The food was fantastic and the service was superb. I had the Cemita Poblano which is the like a Mexican pulled pork sandwich. It is ten times better however and puts traditional pulled pork sandwiches to shame. My gf had the taco flight which was pork, chicken, chorizo and barbacoa - she throughly enjoyed it. The food here is excellent, as are the drinks. However, I do think it's a little overpriced for the quantity you receive - but not so much so that it stops me coming back when I'm craving tacos! Service is usually not especially good, but it's not the worst either.My one bugbear - you can't mix the types of taco in one order. You have to have two (or three) of the same thing. Cascabel is definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants on the upper west side. Started off with the margaritas which were all solid - we tried the lime and pomegranate basil ones. As good as it gets, great ambiance. The indoor area has large doors that open up to the outside seating area. Arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday and was seated right away. I'm actually very happy with the burritos I've tried from here, and I know I sound surprised. The fillings - tender beans, salty queso fresco bits, fresh / tangy salsa, and yummy rice - are included in tasteful ratios with the meat of your choice. The chorizo (nice and spicy) and the carnitas (succulent) are my favorite protein options. Included sweet potato fries are scrumptious and crispy... but I'd rather have chips. Why fries?! Quality justifies the $14. Plus, table- and bar-service is lovely every time. So no, not a finger-licking authentic super-star made with love worth referring friends to or taking the subway for. This is my go to for delivery - I've probably ordered from here at least a dozen times.  I haven't even been inside the physical place, but I have dreams about the tortilla soup, sweet potato fries and their yummy aqua frescas!  Delivery is quick and I haven't had any issues with the completeness of my order.  My only gripe is the elote.  $6 for one ear of corn?  Come on!  All in all though, the food is great and delivery is fast. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC. I'm a fan of their guacamole, salsas, melted cheese, tortilla soup, tacos, churros, pastel de tres leches. ... I've only been twice and while far away, I wish I'd find somewhere similar. My experiences were very good. Went for brunch where I had the chilaquiles. My thoughts; they're great! Decent size portion, reasonable price, and delicious. To add in, the bottomless drinks (I think it's for 2 or 3 hours) at brunch. Love this place. Best tacos ever!! Highly recommend the pollo chipotle, Baja fish, and al pastor. Favorite appetizers are the corn and the queso mac fundido. Drinks-wise, they have unique margarita flavors and the horchata is really good if you are looking for a non-alcoholic option. They also have a solid bottomless brunch option, and having gone with a lot of different people the stand-out dishes are any of the egg dishes or the challah french toast. No wonder my friend had wanted to take me here for months! We came today and left with our bellies full.The 2 for 12 tacos is a great deal & you can tell they use high quality ingredients and make everything from scratch. Came here on last Friday to celebrate my friends birthday. It was pretty empty so we got a nice big table immediately. The waitress was very nice. I ordered the pomegranate hibiscus. GRANDE margarita-- it comes in a huge mason jar. It also was a beautiful purple color and had dried hibiscus flowers on top. It mostly tasted like tequila, not really pomegranate hibiscus flavor, but was delicious and for $22 it was a better deal than a regular size, relatively small margarita. We got guacamole for the table; the guacamole was fresh and delicious but the big circular tortilla chips it came with were kind of stale. For my main meal, I ordered the carnitas burrito. It came out relatively fast, but I will say these burritos are small compared to the size of burrito I normally get at restaurants. What it lacked in size, it made up for in flavor. Delicious. I had the best burrito I have ever eaten in my entire life at this restaurant!!! I got a vegetable burrito but with rice instead of quinoa. Initially I was apprehensive because there were olives in it that couldn't be removed and olives are disgusting, but I actually really enjoyed the burrito! I was with friends and each of us got different flavors of margarita and they were divine! I got a pomegranate one and then a watermelon basil one and my only complaint about either is that the basil got really stuck in my straw. Our server was so nice. I can't remember his name. Also the free churros you get for checking in on Yelp are divine! The only reason this restaurant gets four stars instead of five is that I spent so so much money. Great brunch. We did unlimited drinks and shared the chorizo and pork Benedict's. Both were great. I tried the regular margarita, spicy margarita, and red sangria.
