Q&A

To me, understanding people and how we all make sense of our lives is endlessly fascinating. Through my own life experience and my training I am privileged to be able to be with my clients as they work to understand their lives and find ways to tackle feelings and behaviours which are holding them back from living their lives to their fullest potential.

I have worked in a number of settings in the Mental Health field as well as in private practice. Over the past ten years I have come together with colleagues to form Therapy Practices which bring together groups of practitioners with a variety of therapeutic approaches. The first of these was Brighton Therapy Centre and I am now part of The Phoenix Therapy Practice at Seven Dials in Hove. The aim of these practices has been to foster high levels of professional support and development and to offer potential clients a wide range of choice and expertise when thinking about what sort of therapy might best suit their needs.

Whilst I believe that a therapist's training is important, I think the vital element in how effective therapy can be is the 'fit' between the therapist and client. That is to say, that it is really important that the client feels comfortable with the person they choose to work with. With this in mind, it has always been my practice to offer an initial appointment so that we can meet and explore what the issues are and also get a sense of whether it feels as though we could work together. I do not make a charge for this first meeting.
