Carla recently performed at our daughter's baptism and it was a success overall. She was easy to work with from the beginning - she is very professional in all aspects, accommodating to requests (she learned specialty italian songs for our event), and flexible with all arrangements. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Reading an audience/crowd is what sets the Amateurs apart from the Pros. I take into account the various age groups, guidance from the person booking my talent and the event theme (wedding, corporate function etc.) I'm DJing/performing at. As a classically trained artist, I sing in Spanish, Italian, Hebrew and Portuguese fluently and find a blend of ethnic, Pop, classic Pop from Motown, Rock, R&B, Disco, Club to pop music from the top of today's charts keep my clients grooving and enjoying the party, often times going into overtime to keep the party going. I also KJ (Karaoke DJ), so if my clients want to grab the microphone and belt out a tune, I'm all about it.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
My style is hip, fun and engaging. My audience is the barometer, if it's a cocktail themed party with mostly background quiet music, I adjust and make sure I set the theme of the event with the appropriate music to allow for socializing. If it's a jumping party needing happening dance music, I will go between DJing and performing live dance music for my guests. The package I recommend the most is the DJ/Entertainer Drummer package. It combines the pump of a live performance with live percussion and DJing. I've booked many weddings who book this package because they get the best of all worlds. I also bring my keyboard and perform unplugged in the style of Alicia Keys, John Legend etc. My unique approach to an event makes me sought after in this region.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the joy on my clients face after I've delivered an evening or afternoon of fun and their guests ask for my card. The best compliment I get from my work is the word of mouth referral work I enjoy as a result.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am a self starter and have always had a passion to share my musical talent with the world. I am blessed to say I bring joy to my clients affairs with my music, there is no better testament to living in your truth and sharing your gifts with the world. I'm a composer and another benefit to running my own business is I get to share my original music with my clients. My original song "There" written for my departed Father has received close to 20K views on YouTube and is a top request for Father/Daughter or Mother/Son dances.
