After having 3 estimates last year to replace a 30+ year old driveway, we decided to go with Cardwell. They not only gave us the best price of the 3, we were simply impressed with their prior reviews and completed jobs. We also preferred supporting a long standing family run business. Unfortunately right upon deciding & being ready to book in Spring of 2018, the city gave us notice that they were re-lining the water mains on our street. Cardwell went above and beyond to keep the lines of communication open with the city and us trying to schedule our new driveway without having the work tore up again by the city. They stayed in touch and got us scheduled as soon as possible once the water main project was complete. They did a better job communicating with us then the city did! The crews answered all of our questions, were respectful of our property, organized, clean and efficient. This is what you want from a construction company! Prompt replies and easy to contact. Excellent workmanship; courteous and efficient workers who actually DON'T leave a mess behind. More than fair, no hassles, estimates with no pressure to 'sign and pay today' nonsense. Also, no last minute extra charges or excuses. Heck, even their telephone staff are extra knowledgeable and courteous about the work being done and if they don't have an immediate answer to a question, will find out and get back in touch pronto! We were extremely pleased with the driveway paving that Cardwell did for us! We had an extreme makeover from 21 years of gravel (with more than a little plant growth up through it) to pavement. We were interested in having some of the water drain to nearby ground and we did not want to have pesticides used on the project. They accommodated our wish list beautifully! They estimated a half day for prep and a full day for paving, and that's what happened. And the price turned out to be less than the original quote. We were very impressed with their knowledge, promptness, and communication and most importantly, the quality of their work. During our hunt for a contractor we were looking for all the key factors (professionalism, equipment, experience, expert advice etc. ). Cost really didn’t figure in as long as everything else met our expectations. We knew what we wanted. Kim in the office kept us abreast of all the key factors; costs, schedules and updates. Rick and the Cardwell asphalt crew along with Gary the concrete contractor met or exceeded our expectations on every level. The asphalt crew worked in 95 degree heat for 8 straight hours.
