Capturing the detail came out to photograph my wedding on the Amalfi coast in Italy this year. Dan was utterly exceptional, he was attentive when necessary ensuring that key moments were priority for photographs. Other times I didn't notice he was there as he worked tirelessly to make sure every single detail was captured from our special day. The photos are sensational, each time we look at them we are reminded of our wonderful wedding and all the emotions come flooding back. If you are looking for a wedding photographer look no further as Capturing the detail should be your first choice. More...

We were so impressed with Dan and the beautiful photos he took of our wedding in August - he captured the day perfectly. He was professional, friendly and enthusiastic throughout the whole day, discreetly capturing the intimate moments and offering guidance and ideas for group shots. The set of photos we received more than exceeded our expectations and we really felt like we could re-live the day through them, as well as seeing moments which we had missed! Thank you Dan! More...

Ours was a very relaxed wedding celebration in the garden at home after a beautiful service at our village church. Dan's pictures captured the easy informality of the day which meant that everyone had huge smiles on their faces!

Dan was the most amazing photographer from our first conversation with him to the album he produced for us. He understood exactly what we were looking for and was so good on the day - he managed to capture every moment perfectly without intruding and it felt so natural to have him there that we didn't feel like we were being photographed! He went the extra mile to make it special for us and we were so grateful. Thanks Dan! More...

A huge thank you to Dan for creating such beautiful photos of our wedding day. I felt assured that he knew what we wanted from our wedding photos and he worked tirelessly to create relaxed, natural and joyful photos of us and, equally as important, our guests too. Dan was so professional throughout the day, despite being a good friend and a guest himself he made sure he captured special moments from the minute he walked into a noisy house full of bridesmaids to the end of the night (even though that was when he was supposed to be letting his hair down). We are really grateful to him and love, love, love our photos! More...

If you are looking for a photographer who will slip seamlessly into your day, making you and your guests feel at ease, and then produce stunning photos, then Dan and Capturing the Detail is who you should choose for your big day. I asked Dan for a very relaxed feel in our photos; nothing too staged, but photos that captured the mood of the day. What we have received has gone beyond what I could have hoped for. The photos are creative, beautiful and flattering. On the day itself Dan is an extremely calming presence. He worked with us at our own pace, not asking us to step away from our guests for hours at a time. At no point did I feel pressured or stressed. I would highly recommend such a professional and friendly photographer for any event. I will definitely be hiring capturing the detail again. More...

Great wedding photos were taken by Dan/Capturing the Detail. At our initial meeting, we felt very relaxed around Dan and were assured by the quality of his previous work. Needless to say, on the day we didn't notice him on the day (except for the formal photos of course). The quality of the photos is excellent with all aspects of our special day captured. Very reasonably priced and an excellent photography service - would definitely recommend Dan/Capturing the Detail to anyone with photographic needs but especially for weddings. More...

Q&As

The secret to taking a great photo is being in the right place at the right time. It sounds obvious but being technically amazing with a camera isn't going to get the 'great' photo if you're not in the right place to take it! I see a wedding day as a journey with different interactions between people and places along the way, being experienced in navigating this journey helps me to be where I need to be to capture those special moments. I spend time with a couple getting to know what is important to them about their wedding and what makes them excited, this really helps on the day...

Apart from the basics of where and when the big day is happening I like to ask:
- How you got engaged?
- What is the most important part of your wedding day? (both for individuals and as a couple)
- How helpful are the bridesmaids?
- Are you dancers?

I love being able to deliver memories of a moment or details where the couple didn't even know I was there or that it was happening. I suppose that I love being another pair of eyes on a wedding day, able to capture things that are often unseen by others. There's a moment at all weddings when you see the relationship between the bride and groom for the first time, being around at that moment to catch that glimpse or that simple touch is such a privilege.

My wife has been my all time great encourager. She saw my passion for taking photos and the way I 'busied' myself at the weddings of friends and asked me if I'd thought of doing it properly! Since starting capturingthedetail as a full time business I am continually inspired by the stories I am able to capture, those moments that come together to make up life's journey.

I am passionate about creating a perfect set of photos that will help act as memories of such a special day. My workflow means that I always spend time during the day alongside those who are special to you as guests, observing and recording their reactions to each other and to you. Even before the day has begun I like to find out as much as possible about your wedding plans and what is important to you, I'm happy to chat through your ideas, plans and mood boards (pinterest!) to find out as much about the style of wedding that you want to create as possible to make what I do on the day as unobtrusive and natural as possible.

Services

I will journey with you, from bridal preparations all the way to first dance (and a bit). I will be wherever the action is happening and provide you with a full record of your special day. As well as an initial mini online photo blog for you to share with your family and friends I will supply you with a USB with all of the edited photos.

All of the same as the Full day package but with the inclusion of a hand bound bespoke wedding album. I use one of the leading producers of wedding albums to help deliver a luxury leather bound photo book album. Digital images are great but sharing a beautiful album together as the years go on is just perfect.
