WOW, not sure how we missed this place. We live right down Central Avenue and pass here all the time. Tucked into a strip center a block from the Treasure Island beach, I guess we assumed it was a stereotypical fried food basket place. We could not have been more wrong! There is a good amount of parking in the lot, just watch signs reserved by a few other businesses. There are a few tables outside under umbrellas, between the business and the parking lot. Inside is much more polished and comfortable than we had expected with a nice mix of booths and tables, soft lighting and some vintage beach photos and artwork. We arrived and were seated right away. They had a really amazing guitar player, who not only played and sang well but wasn't too loud. The server who seated us immediately took our drink order while we looked over the menu. She quickly returned with two well made, fairly strong gin and tonics with lime and two glasses of water. We started with Calamari ($11.00) it was a large rectangular platter filled with crispy calamari. It had a nice mix of tubes and tentacles, was not greasy and was well seasoned. The lemon-garlic aioli that accompanies their marinara sauce was creamy and full of flavor. My husband ordered their Captain's Crab Cakes ($24.00) he received two crispy, pan-fried crab cakes packed with flavor and nice sized lumps of crab. It was served with fresh green beans and he chose the coconut rice as his second side. Really well done and nice to see lumps of crab instead of filler.I opted for the Sea Scallops ($26.00) the platter included truffled mashed cauliflower and a shaved artisan asparagus salad in a lemon vinaigrette.ABSOLUTE WINNER! There were four big, plump well-seasoned scallops with a nice sear. The cauliflower mash was smooth, creamy and nicely seasoned and not overpowered with truffle oil. The shaved asparagus salad was dotted with flecks of red cabbage and the lemon vinaigrette was the perfect acidic balance to everything on the plate.Attentive, friendly service, amazingly fresh,well-preparedd food, we'll absolutely be back.Additionally, they participate in a local Club Savor program so the already reasonable pricing was a really great value! Its so rare to find a beachside restaurant that actually serves high quality food and doesn't just trade on its location. If you're looking for an oasis from fried fish, wings and burgers, then you should definitely come here. Maybe they realize that since they aren't on the beach and don't have the views, they better have the quality. However, they are surrounded by restaurants in the same predicament whose food is less than par (I'm looking at you, Shrimpys and Pearl). So if you're trying to choose between the half dozen restaurants on either side of the street here, the choice is simple. Captain Bills. There wasn't a negative. Well, one minor negative but I'll get to that in a second. We came on Saturday night with Bruce because our pup needed to be around his adoring public. Yes, their outside seating is dog friendly and Bruce approved. We each ordered a drink-I had the rum cake old fashioned and Melissa had the froze all day. My drink was very good, though it tasted nothing like rum cake (if you're calling it a rum cake old fashioned, shouldn't you use spiced rum?). Nevertheless, both of our drinks were very good though melissa felt hers was on the weak side. We started with the mussels in a garlic white wine and cream sauce. These were awesome but the one slightly negative is that you don't get as many mussels as you tend to get in a mussels dish. Maybe it was standard and just a really big bowl but it seemed on the light side. The sauce was excellent though. We definitely could have used more bread to soak it up (2 small pieces of bread really isn't enough with that much sauce). However, small negatives aside, the mussels were delicious. For my entree, I got the key west platter, which was grilled shrimp and cobia with veggies and coconut rice on a mustard sauce. The sauce was fantastic. The fish and shrimp were delicious with the sauce. Veggies may have been over cooked, but they were overshadowed by how good the rest of the dish was. I was honestly shocked. The only reason I ordered it was because the market prices of the other dishes felt expensive so I took a flyer on this, and I'm happy I did. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Melissa got the tropical mahi, which was blackened and served with a pineapple mango salsa and coconut rice. Didn't need the salsa. It is so refreshing to find restaurants that advertise a dish as "blackened" and you can actually taste the seasoning. More often then not the dish is still bland, which should be punishable by death. It's blackened. It should be bursting with flavor from the blackened seasoning. Captain Bills does it right. Captain Bills seems to do everything right. Great job. More...
My wife was in the mood for seafood since we were near at the ocean and Captain Bill's looked like a solid option. Our waitress was amazing from start to finish. They also had a gentleman playing acoustic guitar singing James Taylor, The Beatles, Bob Marley, etc that had an excellent voice! She said her seafood pasta was excellent and I was glad I was able to order plain veggies free of butter, cheese, etc. The restaurant was slow on a rainy Sunday evening but we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here! amazing food service and atmosphere
Very good food and service. If you have not tried this place - you should. Saturday and Sunday brunch is wonderful with live music.
Went there when we were supposed to have a hurricane (missed Florida but area was ghost land). We had our dog and they do have outside seating. Food was good and service was good. I'm stingy on 5 stars but this place was close. I would recommend! Fish dip was great, Nashville hot chicken sandwich tender chicken, fried pickle was as expected, ginger Asia veggies were great. If you love seafood. You'll Love Captain Bill's Restaurant. The service is top notch. Our server was Andrea, and she went all out to make sure we had a good time. When I asked for extra olives in my dirty vodka Kettle One Martini ($13), the drink was filled to the brim of the glass, so that the extra olives did not mean I got less Martini. I wanted an extra 1/8 oz. bottle of hot Tabasco to go, no problem. Plus, most bartenders do not make dirty Martini's properly, either they are too dirty or not dirty enough. Cap't Bill's bartender knows how to make 'em right. My 2 appetizers, Calamari ($12) and 1/2 Dz Oysters Rockefeller ($12) were very tasty (Picture only shows 5 because I couldn't wait to taste 'em). Did not need to add anything other than fresh lemon wedges (Extra wedges supplied by Andrea within SECONDS of asking for them). Caesar Salad ($7) was a decent mixture of greens, not just romaine lettuce. The Sea scallops entree ($26) were very large and had a tasty garnish. Turned out Thursday is 1/2 price on bottles of wine, so we ordered a bottle of Finca Los Moras ($32, Half price $16). According to ViVino, it is a 3 star wine that goes for $14.99. So I consider the $16 1/2 price at a restaurant a good deal. All in all, an excellent dining experience. Plus, live music by a talented musician and Cap'n Bill's is on my list as a go to restaurant when entertaining out-of-town guests. More...
Nice cozy atmosphere, super fast service, and the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. Will definitely be back!
absolutly beautiful establishment. the host and server were very friendly and acknowledgible! THE FOOD WAS AMAZING
Decided to go here due to their reviews on yelp and was not disappointed. When during Happy hour had some drinks . The food was good had the appetizer which included shrimp, mussel and crab legs. Will definitely go again.
Really liked this place a lot and the staff! Food and music were great!
This restaurant was so good my family and I had to go twice! If you are a fan of raw seafood, especially oysters, I HIGHLY recommend this place. This was some of the best seafood I've had in a while and I have been on several international trips throughout the past few years. Service was great, friendly and fast, and Happy Hour is hard to beat. $1 oysters and clams and $5 cocktails from 2-6pm- definitely one of the best deals in treasure island. If you are in the are, you are doing yourself a disservice by not coming here. Nothing negative I can say! More...
I have to say: my boyfriend and I are not from the area so we stumbled upon this place by chance by our hotel, and I'm SO glad we did!! The food was absolutely incredible!! We went two days in a row because the food was so amazing. I have To say our server the first time, Candace, made the experience that much more incredible. I 100% recommend the steak sandwich! It's the best I've ever had, anywhere!! My boyfriend is also a huge Oyster eater and says these are SO worth it!! I also had the shrimp linguine the first day. The shrimp were so big and fresh! The place is casual dress, the drinks are super good, and the atmosphere is so chill. Absolutely loved it and will always visit when we come back to town!! I also had a rosé frosé? Or something like that and it was INCREDIBLE. Steak sandwich I will miss you, but until we meet again. More...
Had some amazing grouper and blackened shrimp dish over orzo. Was a bit quiet at 3 pm.
Great music and food. Love the Captain Bill burger.
The decor was beach themed and open. It's definitely not a "dressy" type of place, so feel free to dress as casual as you would like. They have a good selection of beers on tap and a good drink menu. We ordered the Tropical Mahi with coconut rice and it was AMAZING! Highly recommend that dish! We also ordered a steak sandwich which was equally great! It's served on Cuban bread and had a good amount of steak in it. The potatoes that you can select for the side were really good, although there was a little too much rosemary in them. All in, I would definitely recommend trying out this restaurant. More...
Solid lunch spot in treasure island!! My parents wanted a burger while on vacation so I yelped burger and this place came up. When we walked in, we were the only people in there. I was a little hesitant to stay but I'm glad we did. All 3 of us ordered cheeseburgers. The captain burger was huge! It came with thick bacon, cheese, tomato aioli on fresh brioche. It also came with French fries that were hot a delicious. More...

This place was fantastic. Service was great! I’ll definitely be returning.
After striking out all week trying to find a single restaurant that offers vegan friendly options, I decided to call before being let down yet again. I spoke with a very nice man, Louis. He was so helpful trying to find options on the menu that would be vegan friendly besides a salad. We decided to dine for dinner, it was so delicious! My in-laws and husband loved their non-vegan, seafood options and I loved their fresh grilled vegetables with coconut rice and their house salad. All the food was served hot and fresh! Louis even came over to us to assure everything was correct and to thank us for coming in, how friendly! I highly recommend this spot for foodies of all types! You will be happy you tried it :) More...

The best Shrimp Tacos I have ever had! Loved the grilled broccoli also! Gilligan was awesome!
Had yummy happy hour drinks and great fried pickles before dinner. Our server was kind and attentive. I had blackened mahi with pineapple-mango salsa and coconut rice. I ate every bit. Hub said his fish was good, as were his scallops, but he wasn't impressed with his grilled shrimp. Overall, a nice meal in a casual atmosphere. More...
Day drinking led us here, and in our 5 day trip to Treasure Island was definitely our favorite! Atmosphere, service, food and beverages! All top notch!
This was a well crafted burger. From the dill seasoned pickle to the thoughtful and unique side. The coconut rice was delicious. The burger was out of this world. Highly recommend and will definitely come back if in the Treasure Island area. More...

We’ve been here a few times and the food is always excellent!
Like many others that turn to reviews when looking for something to eat, we decided to give Capt. Bill's a try. My party was skeptical when they seen the menu size, but once everyone found what they wanted it was a hit. We started with the calamari and fried pickles. Both delicious. The pickles came with a very good horseradish sauce. I ordered the sesame tuna wonton tacos. Probably some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. My son enjoyed his blackened shrimp tacos with mango salsa as well. Wife was very impressed with the burger. On top of the awesome food and service, was the fact it was happy hour. Enjoyed some very good beverages. We had a party of 6 and with the two apps and 4 alcoholic drinks our tab was $90 so not too bad. I would definitely recommend this place and will come back whenever I'm in the area. More...
The food is EXCELLENT!!!!! The service is also AWESOME!!!!! Definetely reccomend this to anyone staying on Treasure Island....

Andrea, you are amazing. You are the icing on the cake at Captain Bill's. My daughters and my wife want to take you home. Your service was impeccable, The Cobia And coconut rice, OMG so amazing. The Key Lime pie also the best I have ever had. Our dinner was a culinary orgasim, our service was deserving of an academy for servers, and the atmosphere was perfect. More...
Why didn't we come here sooner? Food, drinks, bartender, oyster shucker, music -- top notch. We walked in during happy hour. What a great experience. Signature drinks on special for $5. I enjoyed the Captain's Martini which is the house infused cracked black pepper & olive vodka, with dry vermouth and blue cheese olives. Then the Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita with tequila, orange liquor, agaves, lemon, lime, cu uber and jalapeno caught my eye. Both delicious! My guy was enjoying a nice IPA. And, Thursday's are 1/2 price bottles of wine!I started with a 1/2 dozen gulf oysters expertly shucked by Herbie. At happy hour they are a mere $1 each and served with all the great accompaniments including fresh grated horseradish upon request. My guy said he had the best burger (Captain's Burger) since we moved to this area three years ago. It was a chuck-short rib blend with bacon, roasted tomato aioli, onion straws, cheddar-jack cheese, & arugula served on a brioche bun. The fries were fresh but overly salty. I tasted the burger and agree with him. I ordered the seafood fra diavolo. It was prepared with tomato bacon broth, clams, mussels, tiny shrimp, andouille over linguine with grilled bread. It was decent but had too much much going on. I am not saying not to order but there are many other choices on the menu to try. The garlic toast was overly salty. We had lots of fun and were able to chat with our bartender/server, Shara, until the bar filled up. Friendly, knowledgeable and a true asset to this restaurant (Herbie, too.)Live music was perfect and everyone was enjoying singing along with him. Definitely a place to stop in again and to bring friends too. More...
Food and service was amazing! If you like seafood then this is the place to go. I had the crab cakes and they were so tasty as was the coconut rice. My husband had the chicken and he really liked it. Had calamari, truffle fries, seafood pot pie, and diablo and they were all delicious. Great atmosphere, music, and food.
Excellent service and good food. A nice mix of expensive and reasonably priced options on the menu. The calamari and blackened shrimp tacos were excellent
We loved it here. Bartenders Connor and Nick were so welcoming and fun! Planning to go back for lunch or dinner because the menu looks great!
This place was excellent. We sat on the patio for dinner and it was beyond anything I expected. I ordered the sesame tuna tacos- wow. These were delicious! Great service, food delicious. Would definitely go back. Hogfish special really good, excellent southern green beans!
Great venue for live music. I've only given a 4 because even tho my crab cake was delicious, the sandwich roll and garnish were larger than mini crab cake. Pleasant service.

Tonight was our first visit to Captain Bills Beach Kitchen.
I think My expectation of food and service is a little higher than most.
Brandi nailed the service almost perfectly. The only thing I would have changed at all with her service, was I asked for lemon on the side for my tea and she "drowned it" I hate fishing my lemon out of my tea in order to squeeze in lemon juice. Everything else was spot on and easy! She was by far the best server I have had in 2018
The food- Chargrilled oysters were pure party in my mouth. Yummy would be an understatement!!!
My wife had the spinach salad w/ bleu cheese dressing.
OMG the bleu cheese dressing was top of the line good, Spinach was very fresh and the bacon bits were perfectly done.
I had the crab cake dinner, probably the best cakes I have had locally
Wife had the grilled mahi mahi; the portion was very nice size, it was brilliantly cooked. The sides on both plates were, southern green beans and red potatoes, both the best I have had locally.
The atmosphere was pretty average for our beac seafood venues. The guy playing live music was fair enough; I was happy that he was pretty mellow and a soft soothing voice. The acoustics in there were strong so anything more lively would have been too loud and sent me elsewhere.
Great job! We will return soon to try other menu items More...

Great hidden gem! I threw a casual rehearsal dinner there in November and they kindly booked the whole patio for us & allowed separate check! Waiting staff was attentive and food was delicious (I had the shrimp trio). I also decorated with balloons and signs and this was fine. Omg! Amazing service. Food is sooooo good. I love this place. I love to visit here when we come to the beach. Always a good non smoking environment.
Just had dinner here and the food was delicious!!! Large amount of food and great prices. Definitely going back!!
It's rare that I give out a 5 star review but this place was worth it!! The music was great, place was clean even the bathrooms were updated and nice. The waitress Rihanna was super nice, she steered us into getting Charcoal grilled Alaskan crab legs which we will talk about how good they were for years. Even the sides, broccoli, rice, french fries all of it was great. The atmosphere here is inviting and comfortable and the service was quick. We literally had such an amazing time here and can't wait to get back! More...
Great food, service and very reasonable price!! Will definitely be going back! Oh yeah...we recommend the Blackened Shrimp pasta!!
Thursday night and wonderful life music --- James Taylor style. Food is great and service friendly. Yummy red Sangria too!

We went with some friends. I like the odd seashore decorations. We went upstairs, greeted by staff members and seated. I am now allergic to shellfish after many surgeries. I ordered a steak medium rare. It was juicy and cooked just right for me. The others ordered nice platters of Seafood / shellfish . They liked their food and pls complimented on it. This place isn't fancy, it is you typical Florida Seafood casual place to eat, and relax. The waiter checked on us and kept our glasses full. I enjoyed our food very much. More...

We visited late last evening & the food was absolutely delicious. We decided to sit outside since the band inside was playing & we were wanting a little less music & it was a very pleasant experience. Our waitress Jamie was perfect, she constantly came & checked to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to the area. We love this place. The food was fantastic & so was the staff. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. You won’t regret it. I had oysters Rockefeller & seared ahi tuna.. omg, best I’ve ever had. My friend had the snow crabs, she loved them. More...
Great Food,Service, and good people!!
Had a meal here with my family - the staff were so friendly and helpful - our waiter was brilliant. The bar man brought my daughter an oyster to try as she’s never been brave enough, he was awesome!! Would definitely recommend!
I loved the skewered filet and shrimp; my boyfriend said the Philly cheesesteak was delicious! Our Server was friendly and never let our glasses run dry. A great place to socialize with live music as well! When in Treasure Island, be sure to stop here!! More...
Fantastic ic food, service, music and no wait!!! Ate there twice

Phenomenal service and even better food!! Great find right in TI!
What a place!! Great food and atmosphere! The best waitress ever Natasha!! Thank you for providing great service. The best we've had all week long!! Highly recommended!!
Great service, pricing and atmosphere. Delicious food. Walkable from many motels here on Treasure Island. I'm a local and I'll return :)
Absolutely delicious. Conch fritters, fish tacos, and tuna steak were awesome.

Try Dana (the motherschucker OysterMan's) FRESH OYSTERS!
This place is solid if you're looking for seafood in the area. Big space and no wait for us, we each had a signature cocktail, I had the crunchy fish tacos and my wife had the grouper sandwich. Both were flavorful and cooked properly but not "out of this world" good. The service here is great, fast and extremely friendly- I would come back based on that alone. More...
2nd time there. Food was great, so was the entertainment. Highly recommend.
The Oysters on half shell were priced very good! I had quite a few small ones and GEORGE the server says can be hitbor miss but normally they are big. He was friendly and I enjoyed his enthusiasm! The decor is clean and reminds me more of a dive bar instead of a restaurant but food was great! Val, the manager was awesome! Stopped by our table to say hello and you can tell by talking to her that she is proud of her food as she SHOULD be! The quality of her food is restaurant quality and the grouper will put most restaurants around here to SHAME. Jenny is very honest and knowledgeable with the menu and such an excellent server! Great food, outstanding service. Waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely will go back!
Great clams! Great drinks and great service, thanks Matt T! Wonderful night with family
Food was amazing despite the "hole in the wall" feel. Our server Matt was great also. We walked in 40 min to closing with 2 kids on a Tuesday. Not a single issue. Place had a few people but we were really the last ones to get seated for the night. Little did we know it was Kids eat free. Matt was very knowledgeable about the fresh catch and oysters. He explained the entire menu very well. We had the blackened amberjack and the grilled sea scallops. Everything was reasonably priced. Food came swiftly, hot and there was really nothing bad about the entire experience.. If you in the area try this place out. You won't be disappointed. More...
My boyfriend and I stopped by for a late lunch Sunday afternoon after a lengthy search of a good seafood place by the beach. Several online reviews and Yelp reviews seemed to have high praises about this place, so we were shocked to see how there was a lack of customers. If you come here, don't let that fool you, we loved the food, our server, and live singer. The food was hot and fresh--we got everything within 15minutes of ordering, my margarita was strong, but without the taste of a strong beverage, and my love was very happy with his basic cold beer. As a starter, we got the conch fritters with honey mustard. We've never had conch before so we weren't sure what to expect, but fried seafood must be good, right? It was really yummy, check out the photos! Obviously, I can't compare it to any other conch I've had before (because I never have), but it was filling and not at all too bread-y or fatty. And I used the left over mustard on my grouper sandwich too! We both happened to get to the grouper sandwich (market price that day was $14). My boyfriend got the blackened, which he really liked, he said it had a good kick/spice to it, and I got grilled. I was surprised at how meaty the sandwich was! And the fish was cooked perfectly, the fish fell apart very easily and the seasoning yummy. I'm really happy that it came with a side of tartar sauce too! I also have to rave about the coconut rice and broccoli as side dishes that I chose. The rice was made really well--it was definitely not left overs, and the broccoli was fresh with a light seasoning. Usually at restaurants it's a hit or miss with daily veggies, but I'm glad I took a chance at this place. The singer that day was actually pretty good and played some nice laidback beach tunes with a mix of some oldies. Give this place a try, I know this is definitely going to be one of my go-to's when I come to treasure island for a beach day. More...
On vacation and we had a group of 7, we called ahead and they accommodated us and when we walked in our table was ready. Food was pretty good, we had grouper, redfish, stuffed flounder, Monterey Chicken, fish tacos, calamari, fish dip, and a crab cake. The only problem was they missed an entree and it came out way after all the rest of us. However, they made up for it by taking that item off our bill and giving us free desserts. We were happy with the customer service and the manager came to speak to us. More...
Friendly service and good food. Try the groomer taco. Not too many customers at 3pm just the locals. Had to wait for the ladies restroom to be fixed. Other than it was good place to eat. More...
Don't like fish at all, but promised my sister I would try the grouper bites. They were excellent with the bleu cheese dip!
Recommended by a friend. Atmosphere feels like a ship. Live entertainment. Waitress was knowledgeable and very patient with our table of seafood allergies. Food Was excellent! Didn't give five stars because the non-seafood options were limited. Husband loved the stuffed flounder. A definite stop if you are a seafood lover! More...
Yum! Really good food. Good price. Nice, attentive staff. Loved the guitar player. If we lived here we would make this a regular stop for sure.
Yummy! Very laid back at lunch. Live music and great friendly service. Had the fried grouper sandwich which was very tasty. Hubby had shrimp tacos which were very good. But the grouper was the star of the show. Will be back - thanks! More...

Nice little local joint. Food was good, no wait on a Friday evening. Nice staff!
Been here 3 times in the last two weeks. Best grouper and fish spread I've had so far. (I've been to the other popular places in treasure island and maderia.)
By far the best meal I've eaten while staying here!!! My brother loves coconut shrimp and he got a side of fries and was set. My other brother got the grouper sandwich and devoured it in 2 seconds! My parents got the blackened red snapper and jumbo shrimp platter and loved it! I got the blackened shrimp tacos, the hands down best tacos I have ever had! They filled it to the brim with shrimp (unlike some places which only put like 3-4) and their fries where the best fries ever and everyone at the table agreed! The live music was great, and service even better! We will be definitely be back here! ALSO shoutout to Val (the GM) who gave us Pie!!! Their pie is amazing!!! More...

The food was pretty good...I wasn't sure about the place but we were hungry and saw it was close to our hotel. They had a live music with a solo singer on the guitar and singing. Mediterranean grouper was amazing. Service was great. We had a wonderful dinner for Mother’s Day. Oysters Rockefeller were soooooo good!!
First time eating at Captain Bills. Wonderful food and nice friendly staff. Will come back for sure
Great service, loved the food. I got the shrimp platter with hush puppies, my wife got the grilled rupper. We sat outside thinking it'll be nice to soak up the Tampa bay air which ended up being someone smoking a cigarette two tables away. Also someone brought in three service dogs next to us. I get it I love dogs especially service dogs, but come on three?!? And the lady just let them walk around sniffing feet. We should've sat inside that's all.... defiantly check this place out I was very happy with the sea food.. More...
Great seafood and great service. Brandi and Jamie are awesome.
It was our first visit and we loved it! The grouper was fresh, the coleslaw and hush puppies were delicious and my husband has a new favorite fish-Pompano. Definitely will come back!
Delicious food and great service. The shrimp and grits were awesome and the oysters were huge! Thanks Captain Bill!
The best calamari I've ever had! There shrimp pasta is also very good! We've been to many restaurants so far and this one tops them all, so much we've been back 3 times!! An awesome experience. The server was warm and friendly. We started with an appetizer that had three types of shrimp. It was delicious! Probably the best part of the meal, and the rest was top rated. Our quest was seafood. We experimented with different meals, and every one was terrific. Shrimp, grouper tacos, and salmon. We complimented them on the marmalade dipping sauce for the hush puppies, and asked if it was for sale. The cook, or whoever she was, came out and said they don't sell it, but offered to give us some to carry out, or share the recipe. Wow, friendly service. We want to Yelp several different places to experience the area. But our first stop might easily be the best. More...

Long wait time post ordering. But once the food arrived it was very good.

This might sound weird, but I don't even eat seafood, and my fiancé eats very little seafood. That being said - we were in a rut. Our typical routine is same bar different day. But this past Monday - we needed something different. We had never been here before because of the aforementioned diet, but since HH was our motive, we thought "why not". It wasn't very busy, so the service was very great. (4:30 on a Monday, so I mean) They had live music, but not live in the sense that we couldn't have a conversation. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much, we thought we would try some snacks. I ordered hush puppies, a simple go to snack, and my fiancé ordered the Ahi Tuna. It was out of his element and trying something new, but he really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed the seaweed salad he didn't eat. The bartender was super friendly, and we even found out we had a mutual friend. We will definitely be back here. More...
I visited Capt. Bill's restaurant with a small group of friends on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere is great and there was live music. The menu has many options along with specials. We had several appetizers and were happy with them all. When our food arrived two of the dinners were cold. We mentioned it to the waitress and the GM, Gail? came to our table immediately. She offered to reorder the food however at that time we were full as we ate the cold food ( it was still delicious). Long story short, the cold meals were removed from our check and another order of the crab cakes were delivered to our table along with comp. dessert. The customer service is exceptional, they did everything to make it right and we left looking forward to our next visit.Thank you for going above and beyond to be sure we had a great dining experience! I highly recommend that you check this gem out!Teena B. More...
We had a fabulous experience at Captain Bills tonight with our family. Our waiter George was so friendly and accommodating! Really good dinner and live music! Highly recommend the oysters and conch fritters for apps. Grouper and flounder were delicious. Seafood bisque was just OK, a bit too thick for our liking but everything else was really good and the service was excellent. Would definitely come back. More...
Excellent oysters - both char grilled and raw are top notch. Char grilled oysters are fully cooked with bay seasoning and cheese and served with a side of garlic butter (great taste, but a tad gritty. Possibly due to the Bay seasoning). If you like raw oysters like myself, you will really enjoy the raw variety (I ordered a full dozen oysters to myself one rainy evening and did not feel awkward with everyone watching). They were a good size and taste creamy with an fresh ocean explosion in your mouth. The fish are fresh and taste as so. I had my first hush puppies here and I am a fan! More...
We had a great meal for 5 people with different tastes! Ordered a shrimp pasta, chicken pasta, philly/fries, Maryland style crab cakes and Red Snapper. We were told by the waitress that the Snapper was only a few hours old and definitely tasted fresh! Brought home a few pieces of Key Lime pie that were wonderful! Have been to this restaurant previously, for cocktails only, and have always enjoyed the live music. We will definitely be back for the food! Would also like to compliment the waitress, Brandi--she did a great job! More...

Fun, no-frills atmosphere, right on the water, where you can watch passersby and dolphins alike, while enjoying great food and accommodating service.Members of our dining party ranged from a picky 7 year old, to two 40 somethings and a 72 year old grandmother. Captain Bill's had menu choices for everyone in our party, and they even made some ingredient substitutions for us. The food arrived hot, fresh, and exactly to our specifications. Wait service and wait time were on point, and we all left the restaurant satisfied and having enjoyed the experience. We'll be back to Captain Bill's next time we visit John's pass. I hope you consider it too! More...
Good food, good drinks, fun atmosphere! Also great band WildHorses was playing! Def recommend.
In visiting the area on a mini vacation my wife and i were craving some good Florida grouper and this place was suggested by a local. The place is located in a strip mall with an outdoor seating area which was convenient to walk to from where we were staying but upon arrival the place was not busy at all which to me is a clear warning sign. We agreed to have a beer (how bad can that be?) and take a look at the menu. While browsing the menu we inquired as to where are the clientele was as we had heard this place was good and the response was "don't know but the whole town was here yesterday".The bartender was very attentive and there was another person shucking away at oysters for a smaller group and in making small talk he suggested that we try their oysters as they are known for them so we did and they were perfect, firm and salty and served with your choice of lemon, horseradish, or cocktail sauce. For entrees we ordered the grouper since that is what we went there for in the first place. I had mine blackened and my wife had hers grilled both were absolutely excellent and they came served with two sides so it was plenty to eat. The service was very good and prompt and the prices reasonable. Glad that we opted to stay and if we are in the area again we will go back. More...
Great food, everything was delicious. Fish was so very fresh!! I had the blackened fish taco's that were excellent, tasty fresh, I loved them. I got a side of coconut rice that was excellent, very tasty but it was close to being cold. I got the fresh veggie's of zucchini and squash, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly!!! My friends had the Grouper sandwich, excellent with their green beans, so tasty. Burger was juicy because it was Angus chuck NOT the dry sirloin you get at other eateries. Also big fried fish haddock sandwich was very good. We ate outside, weather was nice. I would suggest more lighting at some of the tables and it needs a cleaner appearance. Inside was very nice. Another place I will be going back to. More...

We stopped by here for brunch on the way home from the beach and it was delicious. We both had the crab cakes benedict and sangrias. The crab cakes are truly chunks of lightly seasoned crab held together with light breading, accompanied by hollandaise sauce and a side of well seasoned remoulade. Out waitress was great. Weather permitting, I recommend sitting on the deck-the dining room is ho-hum, unlike the food. Diners around us were raving about their menu choices. More...
No tequila! Everything else was very good. Our male server was special! Will return.
I'll explain that I am a FAN of the grouper. 5 stars! Very fresh and good portion for the price. However...after visiting several times I have a couple suggestions that the owner may consider. Here's where I would rate 3 stars. 1. Don't UP-CHARGE for hush puppies. It's not the amount, but the fact that you add 60 cents to my tab. Just charge 60 cents more for the darn sandwich/meal and be done with it. It's kind of embarrassing that you add 60 cents...are you sure it should be 60 and not 73 cents?2. When I order a PREMIUM drink, such as a Ketel One, shaken. Please tell your bartenders to RINSE out the tequila or whatever, from the last drink they mixed. It's uncomfortable to have to return a simple drink because it tastes "off". It should taste like what I ordered and not a concoction of other spirits. So as a fan of the restaurant (I have met the owner and he is very hands-on and really friendly) and the food...I will be back...but I shouldn't have to tell the server to make sure that I get a clean drink. At the end of the day...I say 3.5 stars for Captain Bill's More...

Always a great meal. Seafood is fresh and service is very good. I recommend stopping there if ever in the area.
Great people, great food! Always live music tell them I sent you in. Great food selection for every taste.
Food was amazing!! The service (Andrea) was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. Highly recommend this place.
Ordered take out on New Years Eve and was impressed. Went again tonight to dine in with two adults and two kids under 5. Raw oysters are a steal at their prices for about a buck each and the ones tonight came from Galveston. Kids grilled fish was great and let us avoid mandatory fries with veg and rice, the staff (Tiffany) even split everything for them. Ordered the fish that changes often, tonight they had lots of choices and picked cobia and redfish also amazing. The daily fish isn't on their website so you have to check FB. As a bonus there was live music, kids met the band - amazing. Had some great meals in Treasure Island but this one and the take out is tops. If I could, I'd take a gallon of their gumbo home as well. When you walk in it's super casual but don't let that fool you because the food and service is first class. More...
We were so happy to find fresh seafood and quality food here on treasure island. We stopped in and came back 2 nights later . I ordered the blackened red fish with coconut rice. My wife had the crab claws and seafood bisque. My fish was cooked perfect both nights and a generous portion. Her claws were good and the bisque was delicious. Full bar with good cocktails. We had great service, the grouper was really good and very fresh. Wasn't crazy about the potatoes. First time here. Very happy with the food. I had haddock Hogfish oysters others had snow crab. Unfortunately they were out of stone crabs. They ran out of the stuff at the Bloody Mary bar. The bartender manager was upset that that happened. He seemed to be very inefficient running around and not doing much. Our waitress wAs excellent limited only by the manager who was unable to keep up with the dozen people here. I want to emphasize the food was excellent but it took a long time to arrive. Its un fortunate that this place is run so inefficiently by its manager. The waitresses try hard and the food is very good and I would recommend and I will return but be prepared to wait. More...

Oysters rock!!! Great service and atmosphere. Special next time for sure.
Got the Fried (captains ) Platter. So good. I mean, can you be amazed by a Fried Platter? It was THAT GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Great seafood place. Food is "down-home". Nothing extravagant, just plain good cooking. The parking lot is a bit of a challenge, as so many spots are designated for other stores in the shopping area. But that as a very minor gripe as food and service more than made up for it. They have a full bar, very friendly staff, and the servers know the menu well. My wife had the shrimp and tenderloin kabob, and I had the fried platter. My dinner was excellent, it was more food than I could eat, and I'm a pretty big guy. My wife enjoyed her meal, but she couldn't finish it either.Best French fries around!Restaurant itself is nicely appointed-lots of nautical stuff and wood work.We will definitely be back! More...

A very large group of us(about 23 of us) showed up for dinner last night because the place we had originally planned on going couldn't accommodate us. Without a reservation, they went out of their way to accommodate us. They brought out extra tables and chairs so we could all sit together. We were out celebrating our new marriage so it was wonderful that we didn't have to get separated. Matt, the server and Val, the manager were absolutely wonderful. Val even got my new husband and I a glass of champagne to congratulate our marriage! Matt was one of the best servers I've ever seen. This is our favorite place on Treasure Island. Fresh food and great service. Nice eclectic styles of music.
We came by on a Sunday afternoon for appetizers. We had the conch fritters, hush puppies, shrimp trio, Teriyaki wings. We also had Pawberry and Tidal Wave beer. Our favorite appetizer was the firecracker shrimp from shrimp trio, least favorite coconut shrimp from trio. The waitress could not tell us the what the sauce was for the coconut shrimp some jelly style sauce which was very odd. The conch fritters and hush puppies were also good. We may come back by when in the area. More...

I had the coconut shrimp and the muscles for dinner .they both were delicious .. The atmosphere was awesome relaxing in the cocktails were just perfect
We went last night with my family to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent! We definitely come back again!
I am a fisherman and admitted seafood snob. Very rarely do I eat seafood at a restaurant. This is one of the few exceptions. The variety and quality of the fresh fish is top shelf. Day boats fresh most often. The chargrilled oysters crazy good. More...
First time at Captain Bill's to listen to live music and have dinner. Great place, and the grilled jumbo shrimp were delicious.
My husband said that this was the best grouper he's ever had. I enjoyed the grouper tacos (but I'm not big into seafood so it was a bit of a stretch for me to love it). Drinks were cheap but good and the service was great (both Tony & the new girl that he was training were very friendly). More...
Looking for a low key seafood place with great staff and food? This place delivers. We were ready to enjoy a lazy evening grazing on food and drinks. We started with the grilled oysters, shrimp trio (coconut, buffalo and firecracker), frog legs and seafood gumbo.Luckily the beautiful char grilled taste of the oysters made up for the fact that they spent too much time on the heat. Even cooked oysters need to have a blast of juice when you take a bite. The shrimp, for the most part, were very well executed, crispy, flavorful and not over cooked. The buffalo's were jumbo sized and had the right amount of buttery hot sauce heat and crunch, the firecracker were smaller but also crisped and expertly coated with sauce. I didn't taste the coconut coated crustaceans, but the verdict was they tasted like they came out of a Sysco bag. So a miss. The frog legs were super plump, lightly coated and fried perfectly. The meat was so tender and fresh, but it was missing seasoning. A side of melted salted butter with garlic would have been the perfect accompaniment and the right fix for the lack of salt and flavor punch the legs needed.Next came another order of firecracker shrimp (they were one diner's Achilles heel), seared ahi tuna and a cup of the seafood bisque. Tuna was deemed quite excellent, but the sweet drizzle was said to overwhelm the dish. More heat less sugar was the preference. The soup had potential, but upon arriving, it had all the signs of coagulation from not being stirred before serving. Roux based soups require a careful eye and don't have the best longevity. In the end, it loosened up and was decent, but not a favorite. The man and woman duo providing the live music that evening were fantastic. Their song choices that included James Taylor, Neil Young, and Santana provided the perfect back drop for a great evening. Mini hiccups, but overall great food, music, drinks and company. More...
Bill's had great ratings on here, so we decided to go. Around 8:30 it wasn't too crowded. Our waiter (wish I knew his name? He had short brown hair and wore a beaded necklace) was great! My boyfriend wanted oysters and couldn't decided between raw or trying the chargrilled oysters, so he recommended getting half and half. I hate oysters, but tried the chargrilled and actually enjoyed oysters for the first time in my life! I got the crab stuffed flounder and my boyfriend got the grilled hogfish. The flounder was okay, but the hogfish was awesome! I liked the seasoning and overall, it had better flavor! I will take hush puppies anywhere I can get them, I just wish they had some sort of honey butter to go with them. We also had the fish spread as an app, and while it was good, I felt it was super salty! We walked away with salted, caramel cheesecake to go and it was delish! Overall, it's a great place. I would order something different for myself if I went back, but everything else was good! More...
We went here after my son's wedding showed up with 20 people and they had our table ready within 15 mins. Meal prices were reasonable and food was great.
Fried oysters were really good, but not enough of them, potatoes were only 2 wedges, & green beans about 1 large tablespoon - not enough food for the price. Will go back to eat there but not a dinner that small, maybe only burgers & fries. One Friend who ate a sandwich took part home it was so large. Drink prices were reasonable. Service was pretty good. Very good haddock sandwich, good music, we will definitely visit this restaurant again. Exceptional quick service, friendly atmosphere. We visited this restaurant 8/26/2017. More...
The best grouper dinner I ever had and very friendly staff. My wife also said it was the best flounder dinner she ever had.
"Just the facts, ma'am"Full liqueur bar in the center of the restaurant. There is the possibility that there might be a guy covering Jimmy Buffett and the likes inside. Super fresh seafood galore on the menu. Friendly, welcoming people inside making sure you eat good. And easy prices. "Probably more than you wanted too know" The raw oysters were so fresh they were still screaming as I devoured them methodically slow. The char-grilled oysters elicited embarrassing noises from both of us. (I said, holy shit, a lot). They smoke them on a grill with copious amounts of parmesan and Romano cheese and however delicious that might sound they taste even better. My girlfriend always orders basic boring stuff. So she got the eggs Benedict. Not the crabby eggs Benedict. Just eggs Benedict. She was crazy for it. I got a platter of fried stuff, fish shrimp and more oysters, frenchfries and hushpuppies and corn on the cob. Everything was perfectly seasoned and their batters are great. There was more stuff I wanted to try and almost ordered fish tacos, too. Seriously dude, try the oysters. More...
Great Food. and Lots of Fun. Good Times had By All
Showed up at prime dinner time on a Saturday night with a party of 20, thinking we had a reservation but none of us had remembered to call. Within 10 mins they had us seated with water and were taking our drink order. There were multiple servers helping us out, and 2 separate managers checking regularly to see that everything was going smoothly. Our drinks were never empty and we got everything we ordered. Excellent service, awesome food, and the live band was really good and took all of our requests! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Treasure Island area!! More...

Amazing food, service, and value. Yep, we will be back!
Came here the first night of are trip of the gulf....loved it ...best shrimp...came back for my Birthday day day 2.....awesome....
We came in early and we're seated immediately. Our server Mal knew the menu well and was able to describe several dishes and answer our questions. The food was pretty good but pricier than some of the other places we visited. There are a few other places around that we liked better. More...
Great seafood place in Treasure Island! Came here for dinner with some friends and family and there was no wait and got seated outside. It was really dark though and they tried to increase the illumination a bit. The food was fantastic though. We had the amberjack and it was literally the best fish I had ever eaten. Tasted almost like steak lol but still fish. The place could improve the decor a bit (why I gave 4 stars instead of 5) but the food is good! More...
Best seafood around. Fresh, delicious and friendly wait staff. Nice touch with live entertainment. Definitely would recommend, a must try.

Great food best waitress Mel NICE atmosphere. Grouper was fantastic
First things first. This restaurant is situated in an enviable place. I love that is not smack dab on the beach for close enough to go right after. You have the option to sit outside in a delightful terrace, or to sit inside in a very nicely decorated more formal restaurant. We came on a Friday night and they had a nice band singing awesome tunes. The seafood was very fresh. We got a ton of oysters that were delicious. We also got their awesome crab claws. That was new for me and definitely made me a fan.We had to get the King crab and that was a great option. The attenntion was great and we got to meet the owner and also who I thhink was his son or an nice young man who was really nice and worked there too.We loved it! Awesome food and hospitality!! Loved the char-broiled oysters and FRESH grouper (lightly blackened) Great selection of food for the kids !
Delicious! Started with the calamari, and then We had the blackened grouper and fried fish tacos. Both were amazing. The food came out quick and hot. Live music and great staff. The manager/owner was walking around talking to everyone, making sure they were enjoying everything. That is always a plus in my book. The salted caramel cheesecake was perfect. More...

Live music was good, service was fast. Char grilled oysters and peel and eat shrimp were perfect. Def recommend. Price is very reasonable too
Food was good. Had the chicken tacos. Would not have thought chicken tacos would have been anything to talk about at a seafood restaurant, but they were worth a try. The only down side to this place was the service. The service was s-l-o-w. So unless you have time don't get here. More...
This place is legitimately the best, freshest, best priced seafood in TI. This is an unsolicited promotion. I always order the oysters to start and then go for their special. The special is always gonna be local and fresh caught. They have a selection of local craft beer on tap and a full bar. Live music, but not to loud. They are about the food. I'm telling ya! More...
