Good workout and great place to make new friends , learn new things. Besides training, we learn singing musics, playing instruments, acrobatics, dances and of course Portuguese. We are all a family that hang out together and always welcome to new people. There is no age, gender, religion or nationality to be part of it. I have been training with Cordão de Ouro for a while. The group is lead by a very skilled teacher who strives to instill every bit of Brazilian culture into his students. I was in Atlanta for the week and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take Mestre Muriel’s classes. The classes were fantastic, intense and educational. He also welcomes all Capoeiristas regardless of style or group. The facility he teaches in is clean/spacious and his students are very welcoming and made feel like part of the group. I have been training with Mestre Muriel and CDO Atlanta for the past 4 years and it has been one of the best martial arts experience I've ever had! ! Not only do you get physical fitness, self defense, learning a new language/culture, and music lessons, but you also join a strong local and international community of good people who are always willing to offer support in all aspects of life. I have not only progressed in the art, but also gained friendships that extend beyond the training. If you're thinking of trying it out just go. I have done various martial arts for over 20 years and Capoeira was by far the most fun. You will not find a better workout anywhere, and Muriel's instruction is 1st rate. I remember when our group was like, 5 people, and even then Muriel had us doing demonstrations at the Atlanta Zoo and Brazilian Cultural Festival, and did outdoor classes at Centennial Park. I lived in Atlanta for 8 years and I promise you will not find another place that will get you to meet new people, learn new music, get out in the city, learn self defense, and have a top notch workout all at the same time like CDO Capoeira.
