This is a very nice hotel, the staff were very friendly. We were there for a huge event and waiting for our turn to check in, there were three people working to get everyone checked in and they all did so with smiles on their faces. They did a great job and were very helpful when we were looking for local restaurants to try. There is a really good restaurant in the hotel, as well. We've stayed a couple of times and will again. Great place to work and stay! I highly recommend this Hotel!
the best! sSo glad werehere and dogs are settled!
We stayed at Capitol Plaza last week, as my husband was in Topeka on business. Upon arrival, I wasn’t sure about it because when we got to our room, there were no soaps or washcloths in our King suite. Housekeeping was quick to resolve this and brought the items right up to our room. After this small issue, things were fine. We ended up staying 2 days longer than we originally planned, and the staff was terrific. Because of our unplanned extension, I ended up having to use the guest laundry facilities, and could not get the detergent vending machine to work, I found a hotel maintenance employee, Brian & he quickly came to the rescue by bringing me detergent and dryer sheets, & asked if there was anything else he could do to help me. When I had finished my laundry, and went back to my room, my key card would no longer open the room door. I went down to the desk and the desk clerk was apprehensive to issue me a new key as I did not have my ID (it was locked in my room). I was not too upset as I know that is standard protocol. As we were trying to come to a resolution, Brian happened to walk by and he vouched for me and said he had taken detergent to me in the room just an hour before. So once again he came to my rescue. Jesus in the restaurant was also an amazingly nice person! I talked with him every morning at breakfast. He was so helpful and pleasant and kept the coffee pot full. We will stay here again the next time we are in town on business. More...
Having a wonderful time. Right next to Expocentre and not far from capitol building

I wanted to thank the helpful staff, and wonderful management at Capitol Plaza Hotel. I accidentally left my coat in the bar area, and the staff and management have been very helpful and kind in resolving this matter. I will definitely return and stay in this hotel again. More...
I have always been drawn to the hotel. Great atmosphere and a good team to work with. Sarah House will be our coordinator for the big day! Definitely recommend!
pet friendly too...........
Expo building a great venue
Beautiful hotel! Welcoming staff, nice accommodations for our three day conference....thank you!
Excelente servicio y hospitalidad con muy buenos precios en todo
We stopped here based on Yelp reviews. We were greeted by Scott who was wonderful and accommodating with a sense of humor. IN need of food and drink this Hotel offers both. We went to the bar and was greeted by Roy who was all by himself and was hot all at once with lots of customers. He still managed to give great customer service and make awesome drinks. He did it with a smile and patience. Our meal got mixed up and he reported it to the manager and took blame for it. So nice of him and we were comped our meal after devouring the delicious salads we ordered. The room as clean and the bed was quite comfortable. I would stay there again. Dont be scared of the outside appearance. Inside is quite nice and cozy! More...
Emile is the BEST bartender in Topeka! When the ladies and I meet after work for drinks and appetizers we prefer this bar and one of the reasons in Emile...it doesn't matter how long it's been he will still remember you and your drink!! Thank you Emile!!! More...
The Capitol Plaza Hotel Topeka represents great value in a hotel. We stay here about 4 times a year and have never had a bad experience. The rooms accommodate a king size bed, and a soft sleeper for the kids, or you can opt for two queen size beds. The hotel offers free parking, a pool / spa, work out room, a bar and restaurant, and free Wi-Fi (although the Wi-Fi is incredibly slow). The real gem here is the friendly staff - they are genuine and always helpful. More...
My Mothers 90th Birthday celebration and it was great!
Was very high class and lots of amazing staff members
This was my first time staying at this location and with the hotel chain. The staff was amazing and easy to access if I had a question. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom. I ate in the restaurant downstairs and the French Onion Soup and garlic mashed potatoes was amazing! The one downside was during the evening and into the night the internet kept dropping. However that could be explained with the number of rooms and guests that could have been on property. More...
Nice place for the money. Very quiet got some nice sleep. Friendly staff!
They placed a refrigerator in a block room so I could keep my insolin cold, free of charge.

Nice clean place with good restaurant!!! Everyone was polite and friendly too
Beautiful hotel, close to great restaurants. Quick to take care of customers if any issues arise.
Loved this place! Can't believe they let us stay there! No, just kidding. The bartender Brendan was the best! Met alot of nice people there. If I'm in the area again I will stay there. More...
I thought it was very nice and clean. The room was spacious and the staff was very courteous.
Wonderful accommodations, excellent service. The menu in the dining area needs some work-
Today we had the Easter brunch at Capitol Plaza Hotel. I chose it because they serve Douwe Egbert coffee. We didn't have to wait in line. The food was hot and tasty. My husband was disappointed that it was only "breakfast foods" like scrambled eggs, bacon, custom made waffles and omelets and biscuits and gravy. We used to go to the Ramada Inn and in his opinion they had a wider variety of food. But there were two lines of food plus a table full of desserts and I thought it all was good. The wait staff was attentive and did I mention they serve Douwe Egbert coffee?!!!!!! More...
They were very good to us mason's for our meeting!
I have set up décor for quite a few events and managed 8 statewide conferences at this location. Their staff is one of the most responsive of any place I have been. Highly recommend them for receptions and conferences. Pleasure to work with all of the staff I have met More...
nice place, clean rooms, good food.....................................................................................................................................................................................sorry had to be 50 More...
I attended the Kansas Horse Council Annual Meeting and lunch was served...I am a gluten free vegetarian and the staff was very accommodating and made me a delicious lunch of veggies and rice noodles!!!
This was definitely one of the pricier venues for a reception in the area, but I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of the event. If it's important to you to have everything (including set-up and clean-up) taken care of for you, that's where the cost becomes worth it. Our guests commented on the great service as well. More...
We hosted an event in the emerald room which was great. The room was a bit warm but otherwise great. Set us as we needed. I also stayed in the hotel that evening and hotel was nice. Common areas were clean. I would definitely recommend and come back to stay! More...
Capital Plaza was great! The planning process was a breeze with Kelsey. She made everything so easy! Also, the actual event was great. We had about 450 people at our wedding and the Sunflower ballroom was very accommodating. The service was excellent also. I would highly recommend them for any event, large or small! More...
I loved our wedding reception at Capitol Plaza Hotel. The food and venue were both wonderful. My only issue was that the extremely expensive food was taken away before I could even finish my plate (and I was the first person through the line). There was so much food left over and most of my guests (including myself) were planning on going back to get more, but they insisted on taking it away. The main reason I chose to do a buffet instead of a plated dinner was so that everyone could get plenty to eat. It would have been nice to know prior to my wedding reception that there was such a short time limit on the food being available for my guests to eat. However, other than that one issue, it was beautiful and I had a wonderful time. More...
It was such a beautiful location and the staff is phenomenal! I definitely would recommend this location for your wedding!
Capitol Plaza is the best place in Topeka, Kansas for your reception! The event coordinator, Kelsey went above and beyond to make our wedding day the most perfect day! We were able to show up relaxed and enjoy our day. The Emerald Ballroom is absolutely elegant and the hotel suites are perfect for brides and bridesmaids to get ready in. Everything you need for your event is in one location. I would recommend this venue to any bride! More...
I've enjoyed my stay here. Plus being able to bring your fur baby is a plus... free washer and dryers. For Topeka it is one of the best in town better then the Ramada because they could use some updates there.
Pleasantly surprised! It was not bad for a small town! Friendly people and great service! I loved the indoor high rise feeling. It felt like Newport in Kansas! The GM was great too! Front desk was nothing but helpful and kind. More...
Our stay at the Capitol Plaza was fine. The room was an average double with the exception of no microwave or refrigerator. We were greatly disappointed returning to the hotel near 11:30pm after our event the bar was closed (11pm) on a Monday night. Between the eight of us 2 1/2 bottles of wine were taken to the lobby. Eight adults/ 2.5 bottles of wine. We were not there to get drunk. We were informed we could not have any alcohol since the bar was closed. We were sent to (one) room to chat & snack...Eight people in one small room even using our "inside voices" well - I would not have wanted to the the neighbors trying to sleep. More...
I like the room but it cost $3.00 for the big bottle of water in in the room which i wish it was free
Stayed last night and really enjoyed our room. They moved me to a lower floor at our request and where very pleasant. Tried the breakfast buffet and while it was a little pricey there was plenty to choose from and very good. Would stay again if we are in the area! More...
So I don't understand all the horrible reviews for this place. Just spent the weekend here for the Kansas Equifest. Had read reviews and was expecting the worst but was too convenient to outweigh the risks. Hotel was not 5 star but pretty much normal conference hotel. It was full for the event so staff was very stretched. Room was clean, soap shampoo towels etc as expected. No issues. Can request a room off of the atrium area in the wing if on a rowdy weekend. It was definitely a rowdy crowd in the Lounge Saturday night. I'm not sure how. My only complaint was the food service in the restaurant and lounge. We wanted to have a beer Saturday early evening. Wait staff was inattentive and distracted. Very poor. Only reason they didn't get a 5. Made our drinks and we could see them sitting their ice Melting and beer getting warm on the bar while waitress chit chatted with the bartender for 20 minutes! Finally got up to get them ourselves and she laughed and ran them over. We didn't eat in the restaurant but Friday night our friends did and took over an hour to get their food. They said the service was terrible. Breakfast was done in the conference area due to the volume of people and was very well done and food wasn't amazing but very high quality and comparable to what I would have expected. More...
I have stayed at Capitol Plaza many times for meetings and conventions. It has always proven to be clean and friendly. The food is good and I will stay there whenever meeting in Topeka.
We had our Wedding Reception at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and it was absolutely perfect! The Emerald ballroom was beautiful and it was a wonderful perk for all of our guests to be able to stay at the site of the party! Working with the event coordinator, Kelsey, prior to the wedding was a wonderful experience. She was very organized and always available and she accommodated all of our requests! The event staff and hotel staff were all also extremely hospitable! I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a reception site! More...
When we got there our room smelled gassy or something and they did good switching us to another room right away no questions asked (maintenance guy told us he thinks it was because the kitchen is directly under that room). I'm deducting one star because we had their breakfast buffet and you have to pay for it and it's expensive and there wasn't that much to chose from. Good place to stay but stay away from the hotel eatery, just too pricey. More...
Heard lots of compliments about the hotel venue from dog show people who attended the August Capital City Classic Dog Shows. Great staff and very dog friendly. Thank you to all the CP Hotel staff!! Hope to see all the dig show people back next year and many more. More...
Friendly staff, clean rooms, Sunday brunch is not to be missed!
Just here for a night while driving cross-country, but found it a rather nice place. Friendly, chatty clerk and comfortable rooms. Spacious bathroom, nice amenities, A/C not overly loud. The only drawback? It's in TOPEKA. More...
What's with all the negative vibes on this place? I went to a wedding in Topeka and this was the hotel of choice for the wedding party. Clean and spacious, but definitely on the pricey side.As I said, we were here for a wedding. Every showed up at various hours of the late evening, but we wanted to hang out since we hadn't seen each other in a while. So that said, we brought the ruckus. We piled into one room and started plowing through cases of beer (it felt like college again!) and were just generally loud and assuredly obnoxious. No complaints! It was a pleasant surprise.I went outside at 2am while my buddy smoked a cigarette and we brought our beers with us. A passing security guard saw us and started walking toward us... uh oh, we thought. But he merely wanted a drag on the cigarette. What a friendly guy! More...
