I loveeeeeeethis place!! Customer service is always impeccable coupled with exemplary food! I try not to go there often because I have an addictive personality‍! Whew, those delectably scrumptious banana splits will have me obese LOL! I'm glad they are in the area! More...

Delicious favors (so many different types of ice cream) and Bill, the owner, is very friendly! So glad to have Capital City Creamery in my neighborhood to indulge my sweet tooth

Love this place! Love the owners too. It's so nice to support this small business and the milkshakes are so good.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bill and the ladies AND customers! Quaint establishment giving BIG service. My 'muddy sneakers' and 'butter brickle' ice cream sundae was delicious and scandalous Oh yeah. ..they also serve a menu of quick sandwiches and hot dogs. Ask for THE chicken salad..it's pretty tasty..you won't regret it! More...

We live in the neighborhood and I hope it stays. It's such a family friendly little store.

One of my favorite places in DC. Seriously. There is absolutely nothing fancy about but it is just perfect. Perfect location with a perfect Cheers-like "Everybody knows your name" type of feel. It reminds me of the ice cream store near my house growing up with 1990s prices. I love them. Often living over here you feel like simple things are such a chore to get. I have lived on both the Hill and Congress Heights. Accessibility is  very limited on this side of the river. Being able to grab an ice cream cone  with a smile from kind familiar faces makes this place a gem. Oh and when we were missing a dog last summer they were graciously posted our missing dog sign and kept an eye out for her.Again, prices are SOOOOO 1995, which is awesome. They serve hot dogs, slushies, nachos and other treats too.  Street parking (after five you can usually get a spot right out front). So go by can grab a double scoop of your favorite flavors. You won't be disappointed.Capital City Creamery, Congress Heights appreciates you!! XOXOXO More...

Reminded me of my old neighborhood corner store. The owners were very inviting. Love the gluten free ice cream option.

Great mom and pop shop serving ice cream with love in every scoop of Hershey's!You can't beat that especially in an under- served area.  While Rita's has made its way nearby, classic goodies like sundaes and banana splits always fit the bill. My nephew wanted a banana split.  As it was towards the end of the day, they ran out.  They sent a worker to a nearby corner store for a banana so that they could fill his request. How special!I've only had the ice cream, but they serve food also.  I don't think my sister cared for her funnel cake sundae.  Overall, I'm glad I found them thanks to Yelp's newsletter! More...

This was the best impromptu move I've made in a while. My family came to visit and we'd just left the Smithsonian Air Museum. So, I thought I'd treat us to ice cream before heading back. So, I Yelped this place and found a gem. The husband and wife team are phenomenal. Their flavor choices are unreal! They make you sample everything! I mean everything! But the custom made fruit parfaits are heavenly! I highly recommend!!! More...

Flipping through the pages of the East of the River magazine is how I came upon this hidden gem (which I am headed to after my staff meeting for icecream and nachos). After reading the story of how Capital City Creamery came about and based on the location being very close to my home, I stopped on by. Immediately when I entered, I was greeted by one of the owners, who was sweet, warm, and allowed me to sample as much as I wanted. She was also extremely knowledgeable about each flavor (regardless if they are Hersheys, I mean come on people, chill out!!) I settled on my favorite, Green Mint Chip in a waffle cone while my nephew devoured the brightly colored Superman. The owner was so sweet she even gave my daughter a small dabble of Superman at no charge! I got some nachos because nachos are life and they were delish!  The price point (2 Icecreams/1 Milkshake/Nachos for $14ish + tax) is extremely reasonable and it feels amazing supporting a small black-owned business that is in the heart of Southeast!! Capital City Creamery (which I keep confusing for Capital Hill Creamery *which doesn't exist*) has a CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!Getcho butt on down there. More...

Much. Needed. Ice cream. Open enrollment season finally ended, so I took my coworker out to the local ice creamery (found on Yelp). The man who served us was so nice and had no idea he had a solid 5 star review on yelp! My coworker got the strawberry cheesecake sundae and I got a scoop of praline pecan and strawberry cheesecake. When I watched him scoop my eyes got so big- THEY WERE GINORMOUS! And I was paying such a good price for it: I think it was 4$ for 2 scoops, and if you check in extra 10% off. I don't think I'll ever be in the area again but if I do I hope I find that same man working. He gave us some coupons too, real nice guy. Good luck with parking though, it's pretty much nonexistent. If you grew up with a 'corner store' where the owners knew everybody and they mama, this is that place. My hubby loves the milkshakes, the kids the swirl, and I like coming because I feel like a kid again. I love the owners, they are very personable and treat everyone like they've known them for years. Besides, when is the last time you walked into an ice cream shop in the D.C. Metro area and not feel like you are cutting into your vacation fund? More...

I work right next door to this Ice Cream Shop. The establishment is very clean, and put together well. The Staff is courteous and attentive. The food is great. I just love the Ice cream Shakes, and nachos. It's convenient when I don't bring my lunch. Hopefully they will be up and running early in the morning so I can grab breakfast if need be. I'd definitely recommend this place if you are in the area :) More...

Hands down the best peanut butter ice cream I have ever had. Butter brickle (sp?) also fantastic. Extremely kind, helpful, and thoughtful staff, and also great value. Didn't get a chance to try the milkshakes but will make that happen the next time I'm there. Lots of other good ice cream flavor options as well. Will certainly be going back again and again, especially when the weather starts to heat up again. More...
