Stop by after passing through white sands day tripI had chicken sandwich - good chicken i decided to not eat the roll - I dumped spicy bbq sauce on the chicken onion and pickles and jalapeños- the combo was way better with out the roll - Good price did a combo for extra 3 bucks drink and a side -Side jalapeño beans - bland but I pours 1/2 little plastic cup bbq sauce and 1/2 little cup of spicy sauce - it made solid it was the flavor that was missing then I was dipping my chicken pickles and onion into the beans (aka) making dirty beans It made meal even better - It was nice pleasant stop before we drove back to Las Cruces

Sixx_pacc found this place and we decided to give it a go. No beer but that's ok. Brisket I had was from the Flat and was good. I should have got some from the Point. Arrived from out of town for work and went out looking for some local BBQ. CSSB did not disappoint. Best meal I had since we've been on the road. A hotel maid heard us talking about BBQ and highly recommend it for their Dollar rib nights (Wed& Sun). Today we went for lunch. Totally hit the spot. Beef Brisket sandwich combo. Wow I stopped in to get a sausage sandwich Wed Aug 1st after visiting white sands and the lady told me they had some ribs on sale so I ordered a half rack and they was some of the BEST ribs I ever ate! It's hard to figure out what's for sale. There's no real list of sides, just a few in the display case in the ordering line. The boards only list the meal combo options. At the end of ordering I was told about the Free roll with meal, after leaving, I was told it came also with a fee cookie-that would have been nice to know before paying for one! Other than the confusion of the order and having to repeat it a number of times. The food was excellent. So I could not give it a full 5 stars. But it's still a very tasty restaurant. Good parking. Building is clean and in good repair, except for some concrete paint peeling.Indoor and outdoor seating. Outside has tables and galvanized rail tables. Theres wind curtains for inclement weather. There's a great set of speakers playing great 60-70s rock and roll. Cafeteria-ish: you grab a tray and place your order with the friendly and helpful preparers, they prepare and present a box. You pay. I ordered the combo with pulled pork and sliced brisket; jalapeño beans and Can't Stop baked beans; jalapeño cornbread. The sliced brisket is excellent! The meat is juicy and tender and flavorful. The pulled pork is very good. It's a little moister than I prefer and the strands are significantly shorter, but the flavor is excellent. The jalapeño beans are pinto with jalapeño. They're good.The CSS Baker Beans are superior with different beans, peppers, and flavor! The sauce is light.The jalapeño cornbread is a muffin. It's a little sweater than I prefer. The corn on the cob is good. The cherry pie -- the cherry pie is excellent. At first I thought I'd been screwed and gotten a cup of pie pastry, but it was just inverted. The cherries are excellent. Went up for a day run this Saturday. The owner was heck a nice and welcoming when we walked in. We ate good and relaxed for a while before heading back to Hobbs. I never review on Yelp unless it's an extreme situation, so just know that right off the bat. Without a doubt, this is the best meal, especially bbq meal, that I have ever had during my time on this earth. It's almost a crime how the two guys who work there have managed to make such delicious food. They have perfected recipes that were sent directly from the heavens, and I'm glad I randomly took a trip to Ruidoso and stumbled upon this place to experience it. The people who rated it less than 5 stars are completely missing their moral compass. As someone who is not a foodie, and usually doesn't care about how perfect and snobby a meal is...trust me. I've actually been here twice - once was a few years ago on a family trip and I was so hungry by the time my dad stopped that I would have loved anything you put in front of me. This time, I was rational. We ended up splitting Pete's Plate (it had ribs, sausage, pulled pork, brisket and two sides plus bread.) We picked potato salad and jalapeno beans. I tried everything but the sausage (because gluten). It was all pretty solid, and I like the spicy barbecue sauce on everything. Their regular sauce was a little too sticky sweet for me. (I lived in Kansas City for a couple years so I have serious feelings about barbecue sauce.) I'm struggling to pick a favorite item - I'd eat it all again.
