Had a very nice company dinner for our group of 21 people with special menu created by Chef Brice, who's a really awesome chef and with many creative menu ideas.  He helped me work through all the options and was clearly having fun making up the custom menu.  We enjoyed a very festive Christmas meal for our employees and their spouses. Everyone there hit the ball out of the park for us.  I would highly recommend them, and will be back.  Campo has a perfect long room that accommodated all of our group with one big long table.  We were all very impressed with the food and the staff. What can I say? I really do love this place. When I'm in the mood for a nice glass of wine or some quiet but fun time with my daughter or husband, Campo is a go to for me. My favorite thing ever there is their bee sting pizza. This time it was not as spicy as is normal which I appreciated. However, the salami to everything else ratio was pretty low. The kid's pasta with meatsauce was ok but served halfway cold. We didn't mention it because when we mixed it up, it was warm enough to eat, just thought it was odd.We had the trío appetizer with mozzarella sticks, meatballs and calamari. All three were seasoned and cooked pretty close to perfect for my taste. The server was nice and her helpers weren't bad, just not super attentive. Overall will come back especially for the wine More...

What a nice farm-to-fork restaurant outside of a casino but not far from the action! Sage was a great server with excellent suggestions and command of her bar and food menu. She guided us thru the choices and selections based on our tastes and preferences while also highlighting the unique and high-quality offerings at Campo. The tomahawk pork chop was a winner as was the off-the-menu dark draft beer selection! Our party of 5 were all satisfied but wished we had room for dessert.... next time. More...

I'll start by saying that my colleague and I didn't get to this place for our main dinner because we found another joint around the corner but along the way noticed the $2 beer advertisement in the window. So we politely made a screeching turn into this place to give it a whirl. We both saw the wood fire pizza oven as soon as we walked in and smelled the goodness thereof. We knew we had made a mistake by eating somewhere else. The beer selection is wide and includes a really good local IPA -cant remember the name after I'd had a few- we did decide that out of greed and the need to try some stuff we ordered the calamari which was freaking great! The fried citrus slices added a little mm-mm good to the dish and the creamy sauces weren't too tangy nor too weak. Not to mention a great outdoor seating situation next to the river. I'll be back here to try a few more things. Several items looked very good on the menu. Finally my favorite moment was noticing how they deliver the bill in a book/novel instead of the little billfold thingy. Please world encourage more reading and mental independence! Our awesome server chose to bring my bill in my childhood FAVE - The Cat In The Hat!!!! I lit up like a child!!! More...

We were in town for the Air Races and I insisted to the guys, no more gross casino food, including those nasty buffets! I prevailed and we pilgrimaged to Camp, on a reccomendation from a bar tender at Silver Legacy. Glad we took her up on it. For a Sunday evening, the place wasn't jammed and reasonably easy to get to, let alone get a table. Carly @ reception is absolutely fabulous. We had a few mins wait for a table, so the four of us bellied up for a beverage. The bartender appeared busy, but that was fine and he made a fine old fashioned. That's critical ; )Carly scooped us up for our table on the patio. Kelsi was not only prompt, attentive and on-point with the menu, she was totally charming. Staff = check.Menu/beverages were solid with great selection and didn't wait too long. Menu/beverages = check. If you too are fatigued of the drab & nasty offerings at the casino(s), take a nice walk to the river and check out this place!See you next year! More...

This was one of my first meals after officially moving to the area. With the location right on the river downtown and locally sourced ingredients, my family and I were definitely pleased. I've returned to this location twice, and the Sparks location twice. I like that they have a rotating menu, so I can get something different every time. I've had a salmon special, pasta, braised short ribs, and two different chicken dishes, and they were all perfectly prepared and tasty beyond my expectations. This location does get busy if there are any events downtown, so I would call ahead and make a reservation just in case. The patio seating is first come first serve though. More...

CAMPO in Reno, Nevada is six blocks south of Interstate 80 and fifty feet north from Truckee River.  This restaurant provides an attractive ambiance and table setting that was "way beyond my expectations," and will likely also be beyond your expectations.   The menu provides Italian cuisine.  The beer list on a sheet of thin cardboard, lists 20 different beers, nearly all of these being craft beers from microbreweries.  The waiter was attentive and friendly and, in response to my question, he told me that the brew from Great Basin Brewing Co. is the favorite. LITERATURE AT YOUR TABLE.  Upon arriving, I noticed that a couple of nearby tables were resting places for books on English literature.  All of these books are small, about 4 inches by 6 inches, and the titles of the books included, All's Well That Ends Well book, a book called "3 Voices" with poems from Elizabeth Browning and two other poets, and Othello.  While waiting for our order, I noticed that each book contained a credit card paper that had the signature of a customer, who had finished their meal and left.  For these three books, the bills were for, $36.00, $36.31, and $77.17 (I'm writing these prices to prove that these books are really used for holding the credit card receipts).  We ordered two pizza pies, one with fresh tomatoes, arugula, and avocado, and the other with sausage and salami (my "take" on the pizza pies, was that the veggie pizza pie was fine, but I was not impressed by the quality of the sausage and salami - - too much fat).   Our meal included French fries with a delicious red sauce that was sweet and tangy.   The French fries were colored a golden orange and were dotted with specks of green parsley, and were slightly crunchy, and had the same yummy potatoey flavor as the French fries from FIVE GUYS (except that the French fries at CAMPO are much smaller than those from Five Guys).  The waiter also brought a few slices of gourmet bread, plus olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping the bread (I'd already been to other Italian restaurants with gourmet bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and so I knew that these were for dipping).  After completing our meal, the waiter brought our credit card paper for us to sign, and the paper was slipped inside of this book:  "English Poetry from Tennyson to Whitman."  This book is from a series called, "Harvard Classics" and published by Grolier Enterprises of Danbury, Connecticut.  The paper slipped into our book was for our bill of $55.22 (meals for the four of us).  WHERE TO WRITE YOUR AUTOGRAPH.  I realized that the idea of using these little books as holders for the credit card paper was an idea that was fun and clever.  The first few pages of each book contains signatures (and sometimes also a little design) that were written by a dozen different customers.  The waiter explained that we could sign our names and that, the next time we came to dine at CAMPO, we could REQUEST THE SAME BOOK THAT WE HAD BEFORE, and see our own previous signatures.  I realized that this was a very clever way to encourage customers to make repeated visits.  Two of the people at my party wrote their signatures.  AMBIANCE AND DECOR.  Upon visiting CAMPO you will notice the great environment outside (clean sidewalks and Truckee River only 50 feet from CAMPO's entrance).  Upon entering you will notice the series of ten rainbow-shaped wood arches that occur in an array from the front to the back of the restaurant (see attached photograph of me under these arches).  An elegant feature at the dining table at CAMPO is a white, porcelain dish that has three cups, each cup having a scalloped shape, where one cup contains oregano that is delightfully fragrant, another cup contains dried chili pepper, and another cup contains Parmesan cheese.  The table setting also includes white cloth napkins where each napkin has red-colored stripes.NEARBY EVENTS.  A block from CAMPO is Wingfield Park where events take place on a regular basis.  I recommend that folks interested in a memorable day make a plan that includes a visit to CAMPO and a visit to the day's event.  Today (Sept. 7, 2019), we saw a parade of hundreds of bikers on the annual "Never Forget Motorcycle Run" which is organized by Iron Nation Motorcycle Club.  After our meal at CAMPO we were drawn by the sound of a rock'n'roll band at Wingfield Park and realized that this was the destination of the same bikers.  I mingled with crowd and read the names of the clubs and these were: Rip City Riders 775; Ghost Soldiers; KILLER MAN'S SONS; Live To Ride; OL' SKOOL; Condemned Keepers California; Outlaw Lifestyle; and BROTHERHOOD SIERRA.  The only thing that I knew about biker clubs, was SATAN'S HELPERS from the Pee-Wee Herman movie.  At this event, there was an information booth, where I asked a female biker if she know about Satan's Helpers.  She replied, "Yes" and said she liked Pee-Wee's chicken dance, and she performed a step from this dance!
