I live very near to Callis and next door to one of the previous reviewers who was unhappy about the locksmith costs. I have always received excellent service from Callis both personally and for the communal facilities on our terrace. Callis are always upfront about the callout charge and of course the majority of tradespeople have a higher callout charge that helps cover their standing costs as well as time spent on the job. In any case one should always ask how much before asking anyone to do any job! In this case they clearly were not asked in advance and as they have done several jobs here they may have assumed the caller knew the cost. But in any event they offered to reduce the cost by half which they did not need to do. They have always been helpful, prompt and generous in my experience and I would strongly recommend them. We called Callis to change the locks on our double doors at work. Afterwards there was a problem with one of the doors not shutting correctly. After previously being so impressed with the service, I truly feel like I've been mugged today- has completely changed my impression of their business! I asked for a quick bike lock removal which took under 5 minutes, received no quote beforehand and was then charged an outrageous £40 call-out fee for going across the road. I shall NOT be using Callis again under any circumstance for locks (okay for the occasional shoe repair- about their limit!) I needed my boot zipper repaired and I'd been quoted lots of money from several people.  In desperation I called Callis and they told me to bring it in - they were so amazing and helpful and it didn't cost lots of money like the other quotes - these guys are amazing and you don't find that much anymore.  5 stars!

I can't say enough good things about the team at Callis Shoe repair in Crouch End. They've shined and repaired shoes for me, copied keys, and even done minor watch repairs (batteries, bands, etc. ). When other places tell me the situation is hopeless (shoes too damaged, key too mangled, etc.), the guys at Callis's are always willing to give it a go,......... Really friendly, professional and helpful. Good price in comparison to another repair I had done recently in Finsbury Park (£2 cheaper) and they stuck the soles down for free.
