Would say it is a large gym and has good selection of free weights, machines weighted equipment, plus cardiovascular equipment. It has a climbing frame for bodyweight training. The are a good selection of classes everyday. It can be busy. All round good place to go and workout. More...

Probably the best gym in the area for this sort of price and its in a decent location for me. Decent free weights area and a lot of cardio machines - they tend to just have lots of the popular ones rather than a mix and match of random ones (the fad ones basically).

They also have a functional training area (which every gym in the area has since copied) which is great for crossfit or bodyweight style exercises out the way of the other areas. A good amount of squat racks and even a deadlift platform (altho we could always have more).

Not sure you are going to do better for the price and most of the downsides with this gym are the same across the board (rammed at peak times, people parking all over the shop etc.) The staff seem approachable if you need them, but the PTs dont mither you to try a PT session as far as I know, and you dont get bombarded by emails from the sales team to try and recruit other members.

UPDATE - July 2018 : One plus point since writing the original review above is that they have recently installed another squat rack and another deadlift platform and also a prowler / plough. These are very welcome additions as they are very useful and popular.

They have also started announcing for people to move their cars when they are parked somewhere bizzare / not in a space which was a previous gripe of mine. You dont realise how important the issue of parking is until you try a gym that shares it with a shopping centre or is in the middle of town.

I cant really speak for the consistency of standards during peak times, I have a full time membership but avoid peak times as much as possible as getting on what I need to get on rather than swapping my workout about is very important to me.

Pros:
- Ample parking spaces
- Good range of equipment
- Reasonably priced
- Counter on the web dashboard showing how many people are in the gym is a life saver
- Friendly staff

Cons:

Certainly not big enough to house the number of people using this gym. At time of writing, now almost 9PM, there are well over 200 people in the gym (almost 300 when i checked at 6:30!) making it practically unusable for me. They really should look at expanding into one of the neighboring allotments.

Overall a very good gym at a very reasonable price. Just a pity it's too popular to actually get a decent session out of.

A good amount of squat racks and even a deadlift platform (altho we could always have more) When you are not in a class yourself the classes can overdo the music / noise a bit, so you have to turn your headphones up very loud to drown it out. But this happens in most gyms with classes.

However, there has also been a great increase in the number of people that leave their weights on the bar or scattered around once they are done with an exercise. It is usually those who lift reasonably heavy or use multiple pieces of equipment at once so this would be particularly unfair on people who cant lift those sorts of weight from the position theyve been left in and to those who always put their weights away.

It is not just the weights area it is the functional / multi-station area also where everything can end up everywhere because people are too lazy to return things.

I know this happens in every gym, but this hasnt even been at peak times. I think the gym should be more active in suspending those who are notoriously inconsiderate to others. It is usually the same people but I feel like if you let it go on this attitude is contangious and other people start to think sod it and everyone starts doing it, with it becoming a bit chaotic.

The function area is missing the dip bars but the area that was taped off is finally available again and most of the other equipment is working with the gym having a 24hour dedicated maintenence team (altho it has to be when gym staff are there to report it, which makes sense).

I cant really speak for the consistency of standards during peak times, I have a full time membership but avoid peak times as much as possible as it can get cramped and the issue of people leaving weights etc. around is worse. Its probably still the best gym in the area for this sort of price range though.

They also have a functional training area (which every gym in the area has since copied) which is great for crossfit or bodyweight style exercises out the way of the other areas. Would be nice if they had another platform or some more bumper plates as it was a good addition to the gym and much more useful than smith machines in my opinion. Could do with some music (that is not just noise pollution from the free classes) and not a fan of ads over the speaker system when im already in the gym and im not interested in winning a fit bit thanks.

The only reason it hasnt got 5 stars is it can get stupidly rammed at peak times, to the point where your going to have to seriously adapt your work out and not mind swapping things about on the fly. Also nothing is done to stop the morons who insist on going the wrong way on the one way system car park every time they attend or parking in places there are no spaces for no apparant reason (even at off peak times).

Having said that you are not going to do better for the price and most of the downsides with this gym are the same across the board. The staff seem approachable if you need them, but the PTs dont mither you to try a PT session as far as I know, and you dont get bombarded by emails from the sales team to try and recruit other members.

UPDATE - April 2018 : standards have dropped since I last wrote the above review. I have dropped my rating down to 4 stars and it may have been more if it wasnt for the new equipment. They have recently installed another rack and another platform (altho without a rack) and also a prowler / plough.

However, their incredible idea of getting people to put their weights back by putting a sign telling people to do so, but never actively telling people to do so, doesn't seem to be working. The place is becoming a bit of a hole considering its just been 'refurbed'. There dust and liquid coming down from the ceiling in a couple of spots and all they have done is taped that area off and left it like that for over a month. They have adopted a similar approach with machine maintanence also.

People who insist on taking up half the equipment in the freeweights area to do partial reps and equipment bending / breaking rack pulls just leave all their plates on the bar and go onto something else, with non of the people who work their saying a word. This would be particularly unfair on people who cant lift those sorts of weight from the position theyve been left in and to those who always put their weights away. It is not just the weights area it is the functional / multi-station area also where everything just ends everywhere because people are too lazy to return things.

I know this happens in every gym, but this isnt even at peak times and if people are never caught in the act or if members arent banned who are notoriously inconsiderate to others, it is contangious and other people start to think sod it and everyone starts doing it, with it becoming chaos.
