Burwell's was a spur of the moment decision for us, but ended up being an amazing dining experience. We were in the mood for steak and were not disappointed. We ordered the hanger steak and a petit filet. I normally show photos, but once the entrees were served, we both dove right in! Both were juicy, tender, and satisfied that urge for a great steak. We found out that the steak was from grass fed cows, which means they are more nutritious than ordinary beef. Theresa was our server and she was so nice. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and cuts of beef. She was happy to accommodate us with any requests we had and made our dining experience that much better! Easily one of (if not THE) best meals I've ever had out. Staff is all so knowledgeable about the food, drinks, and the business. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Charleston after one visit. Awesome environment and even better food and drinks. It’s a business causal style restaurant but welcome to all. Yes you may have to spend some money but completely worth it. Bennett was our server and gave us the best service that I have ever had. (I have ate out all over the country) He had great recommendations as well as great knowledge about all of the food and drinks. He didn’t up sale on the most expensive thing on the menu. My favorite happy hour spot. They have several drink options on their happy hour and some appetizers. The lava rock is a must do. It is really fun to do either with a couple or a group. Have been to Burwell’s couple of times, food is great, love the hot rock concept, I’ve read some people’s negative reviews, not true, service was amazing Cathy was our server and she was personal friendly and helpful, other people stopped by and asked if we needed anything when they pass by our table, the restaurant decor is very nice , drinks are very good and overall a great experience.

Amazing experience! I love a great steakhouse that brings the quality of the overpriced, fancy joints, but at a reasonable price and casual atmosphere. I had the filet and everyone else had the Wagyu. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this as the best steakhouse in Charleston even though it's the only one I've been to, because I've been to many all over the country and I know they don't get much better than this. Food was out of this world, and the service was good - it was a bit busy so our drinks took a little longer than expected, as did the food. Once everything got rolling, though, we were on cloud nine. We had varying cuts of steak, as well as other entrees of seafood, risotto and rice noodles, with accoutrements that were perfectly cooked. The Wagyu beef and accomoanying dip was outstanding. The cocktails to start with before we sat were well and quickly made. All in all, while it was a bit slow to start (about 90 minutes from entry to entree) it was an outstanding experience and would happily recommend this restaurant and come again. More...

My husband and I had our wedding reception dinner here Saturday (June 1st) and honestly, our expectations were exceeded. Burwell’s General manager went above and beyond to make everything absolutely perfect, even down to cutting and serving our cake himself!
