My husband and I rarely get a chance to go out because of our 7 month old, but we made it over last night because it's just down the street from us. I'm so glad we did--- from the appetizers and drinks to our entrees, everything was perfect! Howard, our server, was quick despite the many other tables and him being the only man on the floor. When we asked to grab the check because the baby was antsy, we had it in under a minute which was so helpful for is! For food, we had the Buffalo bites and the fried pickles to start and if you like Buffalo dip, those bites are perfect. I always love the fried pickles, so they're a must have when we go. My husband had the naked wings with BBQ as an entree and they were nice and meaty. I had the Bob-o burger (because I'd been craving one for a week) and was not disappointed. I like my burgers well done and the chef did just that, but managed to still make it juicy and delicious. It was exactly what I wanted, so of course there was no room for dessert! Definitely give this place a try. They still cut their pizza the way the old pie man did, so it's nostalgic and great for picky food! More...

Went to Brookside Tavern for the first time with my wife last night. Â I had heard that Hocus Smokus had the best BBQ in the county so we had to try it for ourselves. Â Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but the waitress was very attentive, and even the owner/chef, came out to check on us. Â We had the fried pickles as an app, my wife had chicken quesadillas, and I tried the ultimate pizza burger. Â Everything was amazing! Â All I have to say is come with an appetite otherwise you'll be leaving with leftovers. Arrived at 9pm and despite kitchen being closed, i was offered any fried food on the menu. The bartender was friendly and smiled often. She also engaged us in small talk and was super attentive. She kept apologizing for not being able to offer us a bigger food selection even though it wasn't her fault that we got there late. She made me laugh a few times and asked us if we would go back. That a yes!We ate a version of mozzarella poppers and milk skinned wings with fries and for barfood, it was quite tasty. My gin and tonic was nice and strong but not over the top...everything was just right for a Wednesday evening. The wings here are incredible! Came on a Thursday for 70 cent wing night and it did not disappoint. The breaded wings are huge and 5 filled me up! Had the wings and pulled pork. Both were very well made. Restaurant side is extremely quiet. Across the wall is the bar side which seems to be an older crowd/townie kinda bar. Only 2 points that make this not 5 stars. As people have mentioned, very understaffed. One lady waitressing, food running, seating, and bussing. This was such a treat. We decided to go out on a whim and after passing this place like a thousand times, we decided to go in. Â So glad we did. Â The waitress was a doll. The food was so tasty. This place is a hidden gem with SUCH good food and the staff are incredibly attentive!The chef, Paul, works incredibly hard to provide great food and you can tell that he not only knows how to cook well, he's really passionate about making *great* food. There are WAY too many things on the menu to pick just one favorite item - the wings are phenomenal (and $0.70 on Thursday nights!), the brisket and the ribs are to die for, and the desserts will make anyone have a sweet tooth.
