One and ahalf acre rooftop farm in the middle of Brooklyn Navy Yard! Hearing the tour guide talk about how this is done was fascinating. Rooftop farms not only provide much deeded green space but also help with water runoff in the city. This rooftop farm is the second largest in the world. After looking at a few venues we decided on The Brooklyn Grange because it was far and away the most special and beautiful place we had ever seen. Because of this, our decoration budget was minimal. The fact that it’s a working farm that partners with some of the caterer to use actual produce from the location in the dishes was just so cool to be a part of. On top of that, the view is absolutely stunning. My wife and I are both fans of NYC water towers, so to be able to climb up one to take pictures was really the cherry on top.

We worked with Michele and Claire for coordinating and both of them were kind and patient. They provided a list of vendors (caterers, DJs, photographers, etc.) that are familiar with the space which really helped us narrow down our picks from the infinite pool of possibilities in NYC. They also put together a very helpful event at the venue where a bunch of different vendors (caterers, DJs, photographers, coordinators, photobooths, etc.) setup for taste testings, trials, and meetings. This really helped us fast track our vendor search and made for a great vendor/venue relationship with everyone we worked with.

Michele and Claire were incredibly professional and knowledgeable during our walkthrough and made sure no stone was left unturned when coming up with layout. Wind is a huge factor up there, but they knew exactly where and how everything should be situated. It was perfect! They also helped us organize a babysitter from a sister nonprofit, CityGrowers, to teach the kids about the farm, show the chickens, and really just allow the parents to relax and enjoy the party for a bit!

During and after the wedding one of the things we kept hearing from the guests was how amazing the space was. They really loved the view and we were so happy that we were able to give them this once in a lifetime kind of party!

Thank you so much Michele, Claire, and the rest of the team over at the Brooklyn Grange!!

brooklyn grange is amazing.
its a one of a kind venue and exactly what we were looking for.
we did not want a traditional banquet hall wedding.
we fell in love with brooklyn grange.
not only because its a rooftop farm (so unique) but also because of their sustainability practices.
everyone was so nice and accommodating leading up to the day of the wedding.
do note that because of the unique style of the venue, they have a preferred vendor list. we choose all our vendors from their list except the photographer, and every single one of the vendors were fantastic. it was helpful that they have been used at the venue before and knew all the logistics.
the weather was perfect during our day, and everyone at the grange was so responsive and helpful.
the price for the venue is definitely more expensive than others, but in the end, we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Getting married The Brooklyn Grange was beyond what we ever could have imagined. Every phase of the process was efficient, easy-going, and supportive. They celebrated our creative vision for the night, while sharing knowledge from their vast experience to help us foresee the things our creative minds overlooked. From the broad stroke logistics to the tiniest details, they made it easy, and let us focus on what was important: each other.

Community is embedded in every element of The Grange. Even as newcomers (or clients) we felt immediately a part of the community. This energy of togetherness is perfect for a wedding, and facilitated a beautiful experience for all of us. We truly could not be happier with how everything turned out. The lush farm, the stunning views, the giddiness of walking out onto that roof for the first time…it’s truly an experience everyone will remember and savor.

Thank you so much for everything!

We had farm fresh dinner under a covered area followed by a great DJ with lots of good dancing. There is plenty of room for a dessert table and open bar. Cute rooftop urban farming! It's so amazing to see that these folks are able to grow so many things in the middle of New York! Don't be fooled by the name Brooklyn...it's actually located in LIC, Queens. You can enter through the lobby and take the elevator up to the roof. There, you'll be amazed with sites of the city and tons of greenery around you. I spotted baby kale, tons of peppers, flowers, carrots, and plenty more. It spans the whole roof and you could spend a while looking at everything and packing yourself a picnic for the benches. There's even a farmer's market, where they sell the veggies they grow right there! Came here with some co-workers for a super unique afternoon of education and bee puns.Brooklyn Grange Farm is the largest rooftop farm in the world, which is super cool considering it's in a city where space is hard to come by. The farm is located in the Navy Yard, which is a bit hard to navigate, but once you get your bearings, it's pretty straightforward. We took the elevator to the roof, which has amazing views of the NYC skyline (they do weddings and events up there as well). After taking some photos, Chase the director taught us all about bee colonies, honey production, dispelled some bee myths, and walked us through a brief history of NYC beekeeping.Afterward, he showed us the hive and let us try honey straight from the comb. It was delicious! Then we went downstairs and Anastasia talked us through the honey production process, the seasonal lives of bee colonies, and what causes differences in the taste of different honeys. And of course, we did a honey tasting! They also sell some cool merch. I picked up a bottle of their small batch hot sauce.Big thanks to Brooklyn Grange for having us and providing us with a newfound appreciation of our fuzzy little buddies! More...

If you have no interest in gardening, or sustainable farming, a visit here will take you all of five minutes. If you're like me, and get thrills from seeing row after row of assorted, healthy vegetables and flowerbeds, a visit to this roof top garden will be worth your time. When you visit this organic rooftop farm, you will also be amazed by how large it is and how beautiful the views of Manhattan and LIC are. At one end, there's a humongous wooden table inviting you to sit and snack on the produce sold from their little produce market. Honey, from the two beehives here, wasn't available at the time but I snagged some sweet baby carrots and edible flowers. Bakers, if you want to candy your own flowers, get them here(FYI, eat the peppery nasturtium blooms and decorate with the pansies unless you like sweet and very spicy  blooms on your cakes and cupcakes). You won't find cheap produce here but this is organically grown produce that is ever so fresh. Open house is every Saturday until October. I saw a group of people hanging at one end and discovered they give tours that are sold online. They do host dinners I was told, and those events sell out fast. And on your way out, don't forget to spend some time looking at the pics of old New York in the lobby of the building. They'll have you searching for the Superman capes of the featured steelworkers.
