We went to breakfast with Santa today and it was absolutely perfect! As regular visitors I knew it would be great but it was better than I ever imagined. The Santa was absolutely wonderful he made my boys so happy and made me feel quite emotional he was so lovely. Beautiful place to visit Christmas or not. The food is also fantastic. It’s my favourite place to come to. More...
Check the website first!!!! I didnt and had paid for parking before i realised the floating restaurant was closed for a private function. Anyway is closed more over the winter. Plenty of parking and not too exhorbitant. Walks round the lakes. Found 1 hide. Think there may be another. More...
Beautiful place to walk around and lovely café
Brockholes usually gets 5 stars from us, however, today, despite being open until 4pm they were packing away the food at 2. 30. very little choice after this time. Otherwise, a great venue. More...
Enjoyable and relaxing. Great views, paths and places to sit. Interesting shop with friendly staff and a few unususl bits and bobs. Worth a visit if you've never been and you like nature reserves. Also, car parking costs contribute to keeping the place going. More...
We took our 3 boys to visit Father Christmas here today. What a lovely experience they had! Father Christmas was amazing, he spent a long time chatting to the boys and made them feel like he really cared about them. They had such a lovely conversation. They were so pleased with the gifts they received. Thank you Brockholes! Would highly recommend. More...
Excellent nature park. Lots of wildlife to see and a good circular route around the reserve.
Our first visit and it won't be our last did not know what to expect but it surpassed all expectations brilliant
We went on the brilliant post a letter to santa trail. Great fun. Also saw him in his grotto (booking needed). Lovely experience in a stunning country park.
Had a good day with 3 grandchildren my son and daughter.Everyone had fun.The prices in the cafe are high and service is slow with a need of training for some assistants.
Great place for the kids to run and play, rain or shine. Good play area, and lots of muddy puddles to jump in. I believe that it's good for bird watching too....
Jack an Poppys game of Granny Granny's game
Amazing place for all the family.
Brilliant nature reserve, good place for watching the amazing patterns formed by starlings before they roost for the night
Nice place for a walk with the kids. The only downside I find with Brockholes is it's not necessarily a quiet walk since it runs right next to the M6. Other than that it is a nice walk around the sight. More...
Lovey venue, staff and views.
Amazing place ❤
Fantastic place, lots to do for children and adults.
I worked here as a wedding DJ, nightmare for loading in, but what a great place to host your wedding
My son's favourite place to visit.
Great place and lots of activities and events for kids too.
Very nice walk in the nature. Loved the cafe over the water.
Enjoyed a nice walk here. Will return when the weather is more clement.
Great few hours with a 6 yo. Had fun completing the Halloween trail, burnt off some energy on the play area and had a nice lunch. Just £5 to park all day.
Reasonably accessible from the M6 / A59 junction 31. Plenty of parking available. Bit pricey parking if your host doesn't pay for it though. The floating conference centre is interesting, surprisingly quiet considering its proximity to the motorway, really nice when the sun shone too. The catering was fine for the event attended. More...
Lovely little place to take the children for a walk and get them out of the house, shame about the door-hinges that park outside of the entrance blocking half of the road to avoid a tiny car park charge considering its free to enter.
Lovely nature reserve
I love this place beautiful scenery and good facilities for visitors.. Thanks
Excellent venue for a company away day
Brilliant place to take young kids. Great out door play park.Lots of nature trails Nice cafeParking 5 pound for the full day.
Lovely walk next too the river ribble approx 8 miles good views and a cafe which has loads of benches. and seating outside for ramblers and loos
Great scenery with wildlife all around you lots of walking, great park for the kids. Good views in the floating village with nice snacks and drinks after your long walk. I would recommend this wildlife centre to everyone at any age. More...
We entered Brockholes and almost immediately we spotted deer, this was before we reached the car park, we saw four but may have been more. We parked up and went for a walk spotting a couple of kestrels the something large landed in a pond not sure what sort of bird but the ducks were making a lot of noise, we ended up in the cafe were we spotted a kingfisher and two buzzards the only criticism I could make would be it shuts at eight. Wonderful place for a wander. Very nice facilities on floating building
Amazing place when the suns out, lovely walk and good play area especially for over 6's

Close 4/5 miles to Preston . You can take a taxi for 10£. I was there for a yoga conference organised by IYN.
Lovely honey show! Lancashire and North West beekeepers association honey show was fantastic!
Easy to find off M6. Ample parking. Stone paths through nature reserve. Great floating restaurant and shops. Excellent gruffalo trail. Find the animals. Whilst we were there we went to the reptile exhibition. Awesome. Well worth a visit. More...
Halloween trail brilliant. Choice of easy with a pram or more difficult. Good fun looking for the symbols with a 7& 8 year old. Also a bonus to see when we visited, snakes & reptiles. Such a friendly group of snake owners letting children young & old touch or hold snakes, wonderful. A great cafe, a reasonably priced gift shop. We will certainly be back! More...
Good job it floats never seen rain like it

A fab day out especially when the weather is good and free too. Just pay for parking!!
Fantastic day out.Great play area for children.
Very clean and well kept. Lots to do with the children
Amazing for days out! Although the car park is about £5 per visit, it's well worth it. Also, they have some amazing events to attend. Keep an eye out on there website.

Great afternoon walking about
Love this place. Great for a walk or an afternoon with the kids. The parking fees are worth it and the staff are kind and helpful.
Brilliant place, great walks.
Such a chilled out place to go for a walk. Lovely staff and very good food also.
Great day out for the whole family, food at reasonable cost and beautiful forest walk, with play area for children, and quizzes for children.
First time we've visited. Definately won't be the last. We did the 2 hr Forest School activity and it was great value for money. My 6 year old daughter loved it. Especially making a Viking medallion! The excellent playground(s) were a bonus we didn't expect as well. Fortunately she's just big enough for the activity ropes and big slide. More...
Took 2 kids (6 & 9). Loved it. They jst happy running around outdoors. Av activities for kids but av to pre book. Nice cafe wiv lovely food & views.
Lovely nature reserve
This place is fantastic for the kids and adults who like nature walks that are not strenuous as it's all flat walking . Good activities for the kids with a play park and challenges which you can purchase from the main office . At the time we went the parking is £5 for the whole day and entry to the reserve is free . There is a restaurant , toilets , gift shop , information centre on the amazing floating vistor village which has to be seen .. The wildlife there is pretty good with plenty of birds to see and we even saw a deer ! Overall not a huge trek like I'm used to doing but I found it very relaxing and stress free . More...
Wonderful nature reserve. Always something to see.
Great place .
A real treat
Nice strolling area - with a unique 'floating' cafe for coffee and cakes.
Visited here and had afternoon tea in the onsite restaurant today. The food was excellent and the service very good. Would definitely recommend.
A fantastic place for all the family with plenty of things to do... and nature in abundance
Lots of walks around this reserve but short and long. Great on a nice summers day.Parking is a little pricey at a flat £5 - especially if you only want to visit for an hour on a lunch hour.
Pleasant surroundings, food prices fair and staff helpful and friendly WILL COME AGAIN
Excellent for viewing wildlife and children's play area
Brilliant day out with Grandkids!
It's a great day
Picturesque and casual walks

This nature reserve has a floating cafe which is interesting in itself.I cycled there within a group from a local park in Preston. Mostly off road , on part of the guild wheel. Large areas for children to run round & explore but no dogs allowed because of the wild life. But to be sure check the web site. More...
Stunning nature reserve with lots to see and floating Cafe and visitors centre.
Chill time with views of nature, and the floating buildings
Lovely place, can easily spend a full day here with the family. Will definitely return
Really nice nature reserve.
Great family day out, lovely cafe and the ice cream stall is very popular - big queues though! Lots for children to do. The play area caters for children of all ages and the den area was just great. My only gripe with the place is the cost of parking, at £5 a day in summer I think it's expensive, especially for Lancashire WIldlife Trust members. More...
Fantastic day out
Nice walk around the Marsh Lane. It's good place to chill then go for a brew in the cafe. Car park is pay and display.
Stunning place a real hidden gem!
Lovely place for a walk and a picnic but the signage on the walk could have been better.
A brilliant morning pond dipping and afternoon playing in the park. Lovely ice creams and a cafe. Eco friendly toilets and plenty of available and knowledgeable staff. Always so much to do. Car parking is a fiver but it goes back into the reserve and we could easily spend all day here. More...
Fun place to go and good food in the restaurant
Beautiful walk and wildlife

A very nice place to visit. The parking is £5. Apart from that you don't have to pay anything else unless you buy food.
Brilliant day out, for kids and adults alike.
A true oasis of calm and tranquility just off the M6!!!!!! Plenty of things to see along with a rather large kids outdoor play area.
Lovely way to spend a few hours. Lots for the children to look at and the play area was very good. Will definitely go again
Really really enjoyed
Fantastic place for a walk, especially if dry - lovely cafe on the lake. You have to pay to park, it is vehicle recognition - loved my walks here - full of memories.....saw my first wild deer here.
Fab day out. Great playground and lovely outdoor places
Great for kids. Pretty good for adults.
Good for an unusual break off M6. Pay for parking but goes toward wildlife trust..
Great place, good walks, top quality playground and fab cafe!
Always enjoy going here and on this occasion took family. Such a brill setting for lunch, managed to get a deal off groupon so cheap and lots of choice.
Great place to explore
Excellent had a wonderful afternoon

Lovely day out! Always have little hunts for children. The childrens park is nice and the cafe overlooking the lake is beautiful. It's quite expensive to eat and drink but you could take a picnic. In the peak periods car parking is £5. More...
Good place for day out
Great place for walking, cycling, birdwatching and wildlife. Family friendly.
Great clean facilities, you can see a lot of money has been spent on it, we saw ospreys, kestrels, a heron, dragon flies and your usual wetland type birds. Around the visitors centre is nice and quiet but there is no getting away from the noise of the M6 on the trails. More...

Amazing place so beautiful the nature there is just incredible if your lucky you might see a deer or even a kingfisher at the river it's so amazing and go every Monday with my group I would highly recommend it fun for all ages young to old and also has a park.
Absolutely awesome place. Loved it. Walks and caffee and the little shop with loads of interesting stuff in. Highly recomended.
We had a lovely visit despite the weather being far far to hot. We plan to pay another visit when the weather is better and cooler.
Another great visit did the free midweek meander, very informative from the ranger who lead it.

Great day out kids have had a fab time
Lovely place, woods, river and shallow still water, birds, mammals and invertebrates a plenty. Always a hum from M6 however, but lovely visitors centre
Lovely day out , good walks and play area for children. Also has a visitors centre with information pod on how the reserve was built (it floats) , cafe for food and drinks. You have to pay for parking but only £3 for the day More...

Interesting place to visit a floating cafe
Lovely place for a coffee

Beautiful scenery, the floating village is great too
Brilliant place to relax n enjoy nature's best
We have passed the sign for Brockholes hundreds of times and never stopped. I'm so glad that we did today. What a beautiful place, plenty of trails to explore plus a fabulous adventure playground and lots of wildlife to spot makes it fun the kids as well as the grownups. We didn't stop on the cafe but did sit on the pontoon and have an ice cream whilst watching the heron and dragonflies. No changing places toilet so loses a star from us as we couldn't spend long there. More...
fab playground, great food, lovely green walk
I arrived at 6am and spotted deer and hares straight away. Herons and swans on the river with a few ducks. The birds on the lakes was a bit of a let down; dozens of coots and swans, a few common tern, a family of great crested grebe, and nothing else worth mentioning. Plenty of; damsel and dragon flies, butterflies.Plenty to see for the wildlife/bird enthusiast. My advice; get there as soon as the gates are open as a lot of the wildlife disappears when the visitors arrive More...
Great place, lots of flowers, insects, birds and other nature to see. Has an extensive playpark for kids too. The visitors centre has good interpretation and helpful staff. The cafe is good as well. Recommend a visit if you live nearby or travelling on the M6 and looking for a stopping point. More...
I love this place, so beautiful and where we got married
Wonderful place and a great visitor attraction. Paths are all accessable to wheelchair users and buggies. Lots for all the family to learn about.
Great nature reserve. Loved the visitor centre. Pity the M6 is so loud.
Amazing day out. Can't wait to get back next time...

Great place to see nature. Staff were helpful
Fab natural place if you like birds and other wildlife, watch out for the dragon flies!!
Beautiful location for a meeting. Fantastic alternative to traditional hotels etc. Can't vouch for the family day out capabilities of the location, but having a meeting in a room floating on a pontoon at water level with a wall of glass, and fantastic acoustics was really lovely.
Nice wild life place lots of birds
Fab place x
Brilliant place to come for a nice day out walking. Very good when I saw a deer and its baby.
Beautiful wedding there

Perfect for a family day out. Can be boring at times when closed.
Great for a easy walk
Worth the £5 parking fee.
Great for an afternoon walk and lunch was worth every penny even though the service was very very slow
Brilliant place !
Living most of my life in and around Preston this is one place I've never visited up until recently. It is a great place to have a nice walk and integrate with wildlife also informal for the kids too. We had a bite to eat in the cafe and was very pleased with what was available and not too pricey. Would reccomend anyone to at least have a look around and get with nature. More...
Lovely hidden gem
We had our wedding at Brockholes earlier this month and it was a truly amazing day, everything was taken care of and the team at Brockholes are all exceptional. From when we first visited one of their "open evenings" right through to the day itself, the team could not be more accommodating, helpful and generally lovely. The value for money is incredible, considering what you get and it worked out far cheaper than some of the other (supposedly more upmarket) venues were offering. We opted for the BBQ instead of sit-down meal and it was fantastic food, we received so many compliments on the quality of the food! Cannot thank Brockholes enough, they organised a perfect day and I recommend them to anyone. More...

Beautiful reserve and lovely walks
Love it opened to everyone beautiful nature
Just great place for family to unwind
Lovely place to just walk and chill unfortunately we went on the wettest day of the year but on a nice day it would be a different experience there is a no dog policy if you intend to go.

Despite being just off the motorway there is an air of peace there. Lovely walks and a nice restaurant. Perfect for families.
Great place to walk round
Excellent afternoon tea out in the sunshine which includes free parking (normally £5)
Got to pay for parking but a lovely large site and play area you can stay here all day. Visitor centre and shop worth a visit, on a floating platform on the water. Cafe does good food at a reasonable price. More...
Very well presented nature reserve formed from an old extrapolation site. There is an interesting visitors centre with various shops which floats in one of the pools. The restaurant windows look out over the pools with various migratory birds to view. There also short walking trails which are well marked up. More...
Great place to go to not only visit nature but have a lovely time. Only thing is the restaurant is on the slightly pricey side and when we went on a very hot day, the ice cream hut outside was closed. But bring a picnic, park for the kids. Lovley place to go for a stroll around, can also grab a bite to eat and a Lovley coffee in their floating Caffè
Really good day lovely walks and the wildlife is a joy to see .
Great location. Stop for a coffee and cake.
Lovely, very peaceful
Great day out still not seen everything so will be going back
Peaceful, tranquil, serene
Plenty of options for different walking routes. I struggle to walk sometimes and found the path to be flat most the way round. Only 2 very very slight inclines which were ok...ok for prams.....mobility scooters seen while I was there too. Saw deer, baby hares, geese, birds etc Cafe was ok. Bit expensive but as money goes back into the reserve it's not too bad. Kids loved the chips and had ham sandwiches. To save money take snacks for kids as is £1.00 per choc bar in cafe. Nice staff everywhere. Really helpful . Arts and crafts for kids at £2.00. Would recommend for quality family time if you are on a budget. Spend £5.00 on car park then that's it if take own lunch, drinks etc. More...
Lovely walk, pram friendly
Had a lovely lunch in the café. Staff always polite and friendly. Definitely returning soon.
Beauty captured but free!
We went on a warm sunny day and the common blues and damsel flies were prolific. Amazing. Gorgeous wild flowers and lots of dragonflies and other insects.
Went here for conference. Most of the food was great on the buffet but no fruit which was needed as it wss a warm day
Such a beautiful space. Uplifting, calm and relaxing. Kids loved it.

A beautiful conservation area on the very edge of the city. £5 to park all day but is situated on the Guild Wheel so pedestrian and cycle accessible. Plenty to do with well kept paths and very clean. Great walk and wonderful family outing
Spent a lovely day here messing about by the river. Highly recommended.
Fantastic and beautiful nature reserve. I come here often
Lovely for a short walk or to take children.
One of my favourite places. My kids love coming here. So peaceful if you sit by the river.
Giving this place a 4 due to the bad layout of the carparks and directions we were given to pay etc. We went to the smaller car park and was told to walk all the way up to the top car park (it was roasting outside last thing I need to be doing is searching for the pay meter) to then be told to use the shop in the village. When I went in the woman was really rude and snappy with me "why do they keep sending people here this is NOT where you pay for parking " to then walk back up to the top carpark to walk back down the bottom carpark to pay. Really annoyed me due to the fact parking is £5 would have expected it to be more organised. Anyway we had a look round and the place was tidy and clean. Restaurant looked nice but we didn't eat there due to bringing a picnic. My son made Easter sock bunnies and the ladies in there were really pleasent in the activity room. My son enjoyed the park its pretty big and tidy. Maybe have another area for ice creams maybe icelollys In a fridge in the shops/restaurants because there were over 30 people queing up for them. Fabulous afternoon tea. Good quality food. Lovely friendly staff. Definitely going back.
Peaceful and beautiful place with relavent shopping amenities, added to this a cafe with a good variety of choice and all surrounded by bird filled wetlands.... I can't stay away
Gorgeous setting and I loved the way when you were sat in the restaurant area it felt like you where sitting in the Lake! Went today for afternoon tea, very expensive, very good but very expensive and didn't really get that much would have been disappointed if we'd paid full price but we had a Groupon voucher . And then parking was £5, now £5 is reasonable if your going to go and enjoy the scenic walks and parks available and your making a day of going. But if your paying £70 for afternoon tea leaving hungry and then you have pay extra for parking aswell I thought it was steep. More...
A great family day out exploring nature.
Not sure about price of parking just to use the cafe but lovely place.
Lovely family day out
Lovely place to visit, nice walks, good facilities, learnt quite a bit too!
First visit for me will come again later in the season. Good views less wildlife than expected, too early perhaps. Enjoyed the gentle walks. Parking was only £3 all day and no entrance fee but the cafe is a way of raising funds for the reserve, so in effect your support is optional. Children are catered for with the inevitable play areas. Great family afternoon out
Beautiful place with lots of wildlife to observe
Lovely sunny day spent with my sister and nephews here. We did partake in a bit of litter picking, as there were very no bins to be found!!
Dog free area to enjoy, not easy to come by
It would be even more beautiful in the summer
Can't believe this peaceful haven is beside the M6 motorway, one of those hidden gems.
Great for an evening walk in the hope for foxes / owls and roosting birds
Enjoyed visit good walks for bird sightings. Cafe has nice views but coffee disappointing.
Great family fun
Really lovely place £5 parking for all day and some really nice walks. And a really big park for the kids.
