Thanks to everyone at Bristol Maritime Academy for putting on a fantastic L2 Powerboat course. I started yesterday not knowing the pointy end from the blunt end and 2 days later I feel confident to manoeuvre a boat around a busy harbour or take it screaming down the Bristol Channel and still find my way home. Awesome job guys! I'll definitely be coming back for more. More...

This weekend spent taking the RYA Powerboat Course Level II was great! I learned how to handle powerboats, from specific maneuvers to fundamental safety considerations, and I now feel safe to drive on my own and with other people.
Charlie, our instructor, was an amazing teacher and also a fun one, making the course very entertaining. I would definitely recommend the course and especially Bristol Maritime Academy. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

I have been on a course and also used Bristol Maritime for a Corporate day.
What a knowledgeable professional team of experts they all are and what is even better is that it is all delivered in just the right way by very nice people.
The training also works, from first hand "oh xxxx" experience.

Just had a very interesting and fun two days on the Level 2 Powerboat course with Lillian and Fen. I had no previous relevant knowledge or experience and was quite apprehensive at the start. They put me at ease and made it seem easy. Thank you
Historic Bristol harbour is a great location in which to learn as was scenic Avon gorge and busy Avonmouth.

A great weekend spent with Tim, Lily and Fen down in Bristol Docks and out in Avonmouth. Don't bother shopping round - just book with Bristol Maritime Academy. Why? They are all great instructors - patient, can explain well, have good boats, have a comfortable and pleasant classroom, have good waterproof kit to borrow, make you feel like they really know their stuff, were knowledgable about Bristol history ( not part of the course but interesting nonetheless), explained everything very clearly and gave us a real sense of achievement - all four of us now feel competent in a powerboat. Job done! Most highly recommended. More...

My friend Megan and I, completed the RYA Powerboat Level 2 at the Bristol Maritime Academy a week ago and although the weather was horrific, we still had a fantastic time, learning new skills and obtaining our qualification, under the tuition of the instructors. We both feel confident enough now, to hire a motor boat abroad and deal with the kind of situations we might face.

The centre is really clean and comfy and the boat was fast and fun to drive. The staff were all excellent and I would highly recommend anyone wanting to do their qualification, to do it here. Thanks guys and we look forward to hitting the Adriatic Sea soon.

I did my RYA Powerboat Level 2 with Bristol Maritime, and had a fantastic couple of days. The instructor Charlie was knowledgeable and relaxed, and gave great feedback. He made it very easy to learn.
Whether it was pootling around the docks practising 360 degree turns or charging along at 30 knots in the Bristol Channel, every part of the course was useful and I now feel confident that I could take a similarly-sized boat out safely.
I am becoming something of a Bristol Maritime regular with two previous courses under my belt; the people are always friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.
Highly recommended!

Needing training in driving a coaching launch to follow and coach rowing crews, I booked in for the level 2 powerboat handling course. I think I have acquired a reasonable level of competence, much more confidence than expected, and a nice shiny plastic certificate to put in my wallet. Since doing the course, I have used the club's coaching launch twice (instead of a bike on the towpath), and being able to view crews from close-up from a variety of angles has greatly improved my effectiveness as a coach. Crews said that they think they are getting more out of my coaching from a launch, and as time moves on I expect this to feed through to success for the rowers in competitions. The course was very well structured and taught, and although I don't expect any of my crews to go so fast that I will need to chase them at high speed, nevertheless handling the centre's very fast launches under instruction brings a worthwhile extra dimension. Lot's of emphasis on safety as well, much needed in all water-sports. Enjoyable and useful, and the staff were very informative and helpful. More...

I’ve just completed an RYA Intensive Day Skipper theory course with yourselves instructed by Dave. For someone like me who had no knowledge, he was a great teacher. A fun and relaxed way of teaching and always ready to help those of us who struggled on things at times. Cannot fault my experience on the STCW basic training course. All instructors were exemplary, well qualified and experienced in the subjects they were teaching. The staff were friendly and helpful and had additional knowledge of the super-yacht industry which would be helpful to any candidate looking to move into that industry.

The course was attended by a real mix of ages and experiences, expanding my knowledge and interest through the other students not just the instructors. Fire training a Fire Aid (Hythe) was a highlight of the course for all.
