I highly recommend Boss K9 to anyone looking for a dog trainer. I took my pup there for 2 week board and train at 6 months old, and at a year and a half, I can trust him in just about any environment. He frequents the pet store, my office, family parties, etc. without ever having any issues. Because of Boss K9, my dog and I have established a level of trust and understanding of each other that we otherwise may never have found. This trust and understanding is why he excels in any environment I put him in. The coolest thing about Boss K9 is that they listen to your concerns and they teach you just as much as they’ve taught your dog. They are always honest and always willing to help when they can. Walk without distractions, get a recall that is 💯 and be able to TRUST YOUR DOG - call Boss K9! More...

I could not speak any higher about Anna and the Boss K9 Team! They are absolutely amazing!! My mini Australian puppy needed basic obedience training and needed help with being protective/guarding his toys and bones where he would show a little aggression. Anna and her team fixed the aggression problem and did all the basic training. I have to admit, that I was nervous about my puppy losing his personality while being gone for the training program but that did not happen at all my little guy! In fact, I feel his personality even grew bigger and loving! The bond that we have after the training program is truly amazing! I highly recommend Anna and her team to anyone. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Anna and Team! Frankie and I are forever grateful! :) More...

I adopted my dog a year ago from a shelter in Lorain. Although she was a very sweet dog she clearly had been through some trauma was afraid of everything. Walking her was difficult and trying to take her to a groomer or vet was impossible. She would just sit and shake and refuse to move. She also showed some aggression towards males and I was afraid she would get scared enough and bite. A great friend of mine recommended Boss K9 and after 3 months of having her she went for a 3 week board and train. After training it was a night and day difference we could take her everywhere with us and she had no fear. Her hesitancy towards males (mostly my dad) was no longer and issues and they are now best friends. We even took her to a beach vacation in NC and had her off leash the whole time. We get non stop compliments on her everywhere we go and it'll all thanks to amazing staff at Boss k9. We prefer to go places that me can bring Mamba but unfortunately not all places allow her so the boarding at Boss K9 also makes it possible for us to travel and know shes safe and well taken care of. The staff is incredible and so quick to respond. More...

Dogtor Fauci spent four weeks with Boss K9. Now that he's been home for a few months, it's clear to me just how important this experience was for him and for us. Before his board and train, he was anxious, had extreme reactivity to other dogs and animals, he was incapable of walking on leash and uncontrollable when it came to chasing prey, he barked incessantly out the window, and he had a taste for destroying shoes or hats. Since he's been home, he has new coping mechanisms for his anxiety, he walks next to me on the leash, he can handle seeing a squirrel without taking off and dragging me with him, and his barking and reactivity to other animals has significantly reduced. I never thought I'd be able to travel with him and introduce him to new settings, let alone have him coexist with other dogs, but now he has the confidence and tools to do both. My relationship with Fauci has also improved. We respect each other in new ways and it's made our bond so much stronger because we know how to listen to each other. I notice his body language and he listens to my commands. Best of all, I feel like Boss K9 is there for us even now. They continue to answer questions and help me prepare for any obstacles. They genuinely care about their clients and it shows in their follow-up. Our lives have changed for the better. It's hard to imagine what life would be like without the opportunity to work with them. If I had to describe my dog Erie it would be difficult to choose just one word. Because Erie is complex. She is a walking oxymoron. She is charismatic and rude. Loyal and stubborn. Smart and well….kind of stupid. From the moment we met Erie we knew she wasn’t going to be an ‘easy’ dog. We joke now that we honestly anticipated life with Erie to be challenging. She would pick up commands as quick as you could teach them, and then willfully ignore them while staring you dead in the eye. We knew very early on that Erie would need some ‘professional help’ and Boss K9 was exactly what we were looking for. The trainers understood Erie and her complexities. They saw her for exactly who she was, and met her exactly where she was. Erie was 4 months old when we officially became part of the Boss K9 family and all of the work and time that Anna and the team invested in her has payed off ten-fold. Erie is almost 2 now and is a truly solid dog, thanks to those early interventions and socialization. Don’t get me wrong, Erie still has problem behaviors, and she always will because there’s no such thing as a perfect dog. Erie will always be pushy and needy, but what’s different is that we were given the knowledge and tools to restore the balance and boundaries she needs as those problems arise. So if you were looking for a sign that this is the trainer for you, this is it. Your dog spends its entire life with you. Your dog is worth the investment and they deserve a team like the one Anna has created. Life with Erie is surprisingly easy now, and we credit it all to them, and if the opportunity should ever arise I would not hesitate to work with them in the future. More...

We have a 2 year old golden retriever who has a very calm temperament, and decided she needed a friend. Lucy is almost a year old now, and has definitely challenged us in ways we never imagined! Lucy is very exuberant- especially when it comes to food. Discouraging her from counter-surfing is still a work in progress, but she is able to do a bed stay during food prep and mealtimes. She also walks on a leash like a dream, and has mastered “wait,” “down,” “sit,” and “out.” Anna and her staff are patient and gentle yet firm with canine and human clients. They are clearly very passionate about what they do and their love for dogs is abundantly apparent. We did a 3 week board-and-train for Lucy, with a brush up stay, and did basic command training for our other dog in 6 at-home sessions, and it was the best investment in our relationship with our dogs that we could have made. The balanced training method works wonders; it does require consistency from the pet owner to really be effective in the long term. More...

Everybody who knew my dog before training would say that he was the best boy around, and to them, he was, because I was extremely conscious about who I brought him around. He was terrified of the unknown and that caused a lot of lashing out. I used to take him everywhere and anywhere until I couldn’t anymore with the pandemic and that’s when things got questionable. When he attempted to bite an old lady at a pet store, I immediately emailed Boss K9 that day and haven’t looked back since. They were honest with me about what they could do with Bo and that it would mostly be me who had to put in the hard work but I didn’t mind; I just wanted my best friend back. It took a lot of anxiety filled nights and pep talks with myself to get to the point where I am now with Bo but I couldn’t be happier. I originally got my dog, Bella (a blue heeler mix) from the shelter in 2018. They made sure to inform me she was young, hyper, and because of her breed - may herd smaller animals or even try to with people at times. It was almost an afterthought that they told me she had been surrendered after spending the first year of her life in a severely abusive environment & as a result was very reactive, terrified of men, and didn’t know how to control herself around other dogs when she got too worked up. It took me three years to find a trainer & training group that I felt good about. Three years of avoiding other people and dogs when walking, or trying every calming spray and treat under the sun, and just trying to think of new ways to introduce her to people in a way that wouldn’t scare her and cause her to react. I was told she was too old (by the time she was three) to be trained. I was told by dog trainers who “specialized” in corrective behavior and dog reactivity that since she’s bitten someone, there’s no hope for her. I was told by strangers that I needed to control my dog, teach her who’s boss, etc. and was told multiple times that I was too young and couldn’t be the proper owner to Bella. Finally - and I do mean FINALLY - I came across Frankie & Boss K9 on my instagram discovery page. I saw the journey Frankie went on and how much she had grown in confidence and took to training. I got lost in checking out every video and post after that, checking out their facebook, website, etc. until finally I called and scheduled a phone consultation with Anna. That ONE phone call changed my life. The entire time we talked I never once felt stupid for how I was handling Bella, never once felt like she was a lost cause, I truly never felt defeated. Instead I hung up feeling confident that this was the person and team I could trust my dog with. And for someone who has rescued a dog and knows they have problems because of a previous environment, that’s a big thing you do not take for granted. Through the whole process Anna & team was very honest and upfront about Bella’s training. They were transparent, did not sugar coat anything, and kept me updated on her progress. In return I made sure I told them everything about Bella. Like I said, they never made me feel stupid for not knowing how to handle my dog the best way. I knew going in Bella was never going to be the dog strangers could run up to and pet, and I think knowing that and communicating that from the beginning helped my relationship as well. I didn’t want to put unrealistic expectations on my dog, myself, or the Boss K9 team. Anna and the entire Boss K9 team gave me the skill set to communicate with Bell, set her up for success and taught me how to continue her training everyday. The community that has been built from this place is incredible. Bella and I consistently get together with others and their dogs to practice skills and walk together. Boss K9 gave confidence back to not only Bella but myself. Balanced training changed our lives, and Anna knows I frequently get emotional every-time we talk because I’m just so thankful. The foundation that Bella and I both received from Boss K9 did set us up for success. Everyday is a day Bella and I are constantly working together, communicating, and she is being trained. But everyday I see small improvements in her as well and it’s amazing to see. If you’re on the fence about dog training, unsure where to go or who to trust, or just not sure that your dog really needs it but have questions, don’t hesitate to trust Boss K9. They truly are the best. More...

Anna and the crew at Boss K9 saved my sanity and relationship with my dog and partner. LITERALLY. Everyone at Boss K9 has a true passion for what they do, and it shows in the rehabilitation of the dogs that leave there. I tell everyone I know that putting our German Shepherd through a 4 week board and train was THE BEST decision I could have made. When we brought Kimber to Anna, he was people/dog reactive, not confident in his environment(s), lacked structure, and only listened when he wanted to - and they completely transformed him. We constantly get compliments in public regarding his great behavior and ability to heal right by our side on a leash. I’ve had people stop me and ask where we took him to get trained. That is how AMAZING Anna and Boss K9 are. While in their hands, they communicated weekly with us on Kimber’s progress. And it was always a plus when we got a photo or video or him in action. If you are thinking of investing in training for your dog, I highly recommend that a) you go for it and b) you do it with Boss K9. I cannot recommend them enough!!! Gaia is my 1.5yo German shepherd mix and she completed a 4-week board and train with BossK9 in August for fear-based dog and human aggression that all started as leash reactivity. For background, Gaia had completed a 3-week ‘balanced’ board & train with a different company in Medina, OH when she was 4 months old for basic obedience (I didn’t have any concerns at that time but wanted to stay on top of her training). While she knew basic commands at the end of the 3 weeks, I had many questions on how to continue her training and more importantly, how to correctly use the e-collar. These were unfortunately left unanswered, as it seemed the training support ended when her 3 weeks were up. Gaia had been attacked by another dog while on leash, which led her to become progressively more reactive while on the leash - initially just towards dogs but eventually towards even the slightest little movement or sound. She was on constant alert. I was confused as to whether the e-collar was helping her and so stopped using it altogether. I did an initial consultation with Anna in April 2021, and was so reassured by her knowledge and honesty. I was still hesitant to book right away for a few reasons- I didn’t want to leave Gaia for that long, especially since my experience from the last board & train had been disappointing and there’s obviously a financial investment as well. I felt like I had been making some progress with positive reinforcement training so decided to try that first. I ended up booking her training about a month later after Gaia bit another dog owner. Gaia came back a completely different dog- she is now confident, happy, and comfortable. And when she’s not, she knows how to communicate and look to me for guidance. More importantly, I’m now educated about how to communicate effectively with her and the boundaries/relationship that we need to maintain a calm and healthy mindset. I’ve had multiple people ask if she’s a police K9 or service dog in training on the hiking trails, pet and hardware stores, on patios! For me, the most valuable part of signing up for Boss K9 has been their long term dedication to Gaia and me. When I had issues finding a dog walker that could accommodate my work schedule, they reached out and quickly offered a number of suggestions. I’m so grateful that I took the leap and invested in Gaia’s training and have no hesitation recommending that you reach out to them for a consultation if you’re looking for a trainer! More...

I've had Syrah for over 6 years and in that time her dog reactivity continued to increase and resulted in an ugly dog fight that left me with a dog bite and months of recovery. I was terrified to take her on walks even on my own street. She gained weight and lost a lot of joy in her life. Now she's about 15lbs lighter and we are out on public trails and streets daily. I am guilty of getting a dog during COVID. Never had a dog, was actually pretty scared of them until a few years prior, and I adopted a 3 year old pit bull (shelters & rescues for 2 years). Jesse is perfect but she had a few habits that needed some improvement (dog reactivity, stubbornness, over weight) and honestly I needed a lot more work than her 🙃. Anna and the team are fantastic for holistic care. Jesse did a 3 week board and train in July - during that time Anna encouraged me to try something new and focus on myself - so I did. I received timely and helpful updates every Tuesday. When I picked Jesse up she had improved on her dog reactivity, I learned how to use a e collar and slip leash properly to assist with the stubbornness (but also being firm and not letting her feel my anxiousness) and the experience didn’t end after three weeks. At my week check in, I felt like Anna really did a good job of building my confidence that I can do this and Jesse deserves the best so I need to. Every time I’ve had a question, I’ve texted and hear back right away. I also appreciate the community events they hold - I haven’t been able to join yet due to work travel but I haven’t felt shamed for not and look forward to being able to attend something soon to continue Jesse’s training. A dog walker from wag! recommended Boss K9 to me and I’m glad they did. It is expensive, my mother helped me pay for half the cost but it is honestly worth it. I feel like I understand my dog better through the education Anna provided and I’m more confident as an owner. My dog has lost 3.6 pounds and counting since training ended and has had a calmer presence. She still has some work to do and it will be Boss K9 we return to. More...

I have had the pleasure of working with Boss K9 for the last 5 months while addressing concerns I had regarding my 4 year old Morkie’s reactiveness, anxieties, and neurotic tendencies. Anna, Bethany, and the rest of the Boss K9 team are dedicated and caring, and work hard with both the dogs and their owners to drive long lasting results. When I first talked with Anna about my dogs behavioral issues, she asked prompting questions to better understand my current situation and problem areas to make sure her team was the best fit for me and my dog (Benny). She talked me through several training options that she thought would best serve our situation, and gave me time to make my best decision. My dog completed a three week board and train, and let me tell you, it has been life changing. I cried tears of joy and disbelief when we did our take home lesson because of how well behaved my dog was. I could not believe how calm Benny was in my home when he would normally be barking at every little noise or trigger. Before working with Boss K9 I would dread walks with Benny because of how reactive he was towards other dogs, squirrels or any other distraction. Now I feel confident in how to communicate with Benny when those stressful situations arise. He still has moments when he is reactive, but Anna continues to educate me on how to handle these situations. I look forward to every monthly follow up session with Anna and Bethany not only because it helps me brush up on the skills they’ve taught me, but it’s also so much fun working with them! The services they offer their clients are second to none, and I look forward to every interaction with them (monthly follow up sessions, organized client pack walks, boarding services, etc.). TLDR: Bossk9 and Anna were wonderful to work with and I now have an amazing dog who listens exceptionally well. Everywhere we go he gets complimented on his obedience. We owe that all to the time and work BossK9 put in with my dog and I. I purchased a Great Dane puppy with the goal of having them certified as a therapy dog with the Cleveland Clinic. I knew right away that I would need some training classes for both myself and Norman (my dog). I was aware of BossK9 but was somewhat hesitant at first because it seemed to me like they mostly were dealing with dogs who had aggression or anxiety issues whereas I just had a puppy who needed training. I called and spoke with Anna, the owner, and she got us set up on a puppy advanced obedience program. I ended up working with Anna over several weeks getting Norman trained with basic obedience and off leash commands. Working with Anna was an amazing experience. She worked with Norman but most importantly me. She taught me how to have a deeper connection with Norman through our training. I've never had a dog listen as well as Norman. Week by week Anna would explain what the goal was of our session. She would then take Norman through a few exercises and then turn it over to me. The most beneficial part (for me at least) was her instructing me how to instruct Norman. It may not be something you really think of but it was little things like not repeating my self and making sure Norman was focused on me that really took his training and our bond to the next level. I can now take Norman almost anywhere on leash or off leash and he knows to stay right by my side until he is released from that position. I have even taken him to dog parks and if I call him to my side he will just sit there even as other dogs run up and try to get him to play. He will sit there and/or follow by my side until he released and then he knows it is okay to go play. I like to take Norman everywhere I go and Anna really has helped me and Norman get to that level. I feel comfortable taking him anywhere I go knowing that he will listen to me. The added bonus is that everywhere we go everyone is amazed by how well he listens. We often like to show off by doing some of his commands and then posing for pictures but what is always consistent is that he listens amazingly well and everyone is impressed. Working with Anna was worth every penny. I somewhat have an idea of what we did and could probably give it a go by myself with the next dog I get but I 100% plan on having Anna and her team involved in the training in some capacity. Anna and her team are dog trainers and they are a business but they also are a community. They post videos and tips for training on their social media as well as provide follow ups for their clients. They also have events for clients which provide more practice and exposure for owners and their dogs. I know the review gets at this but I just want to spell it out directly. I am very glad that I went with BossK9 over any other trainer or classes. I plan on seeing them again when I get another dog. More...

Our dog, Rowena, was beyond our capabilities as a household companion and pet. She had a history of extreme reactivity around dogs and hurt some a few times. A simple walk down a street or in the park had Ro snapping, snarling, growling, attempting to attack any dog she saw. We had a super strong harness and would have to drag her away, apologizing as we left. Eventually we stopped taking her on walks. Although she never hurt a human, she also had a history of very threatening behaviors when people came to our house. Anyone knocking on our door, coming into our home or just walking past our house in the street, was met with, again, snapping, snarling, fangs bared, throwing herself against our front window. We were beyond knowing what to do.....and then someone pointed us to Bossk9. Ro spent 5 weeks in a board and train with Anna. A different dog came home to us. Her entire demeanor is different - she is calm, relaxed, she is confidant. Now - 'unpredictable' things can happen....the doorbell can ring, we can have Ro in the back seat of our car and drive past another dog on the street.....and have no reaction. We can take our dog on walks and actually enjoy them. Anna continues to help 'us' (doggie parents) master what she taught our dog. She is clear and very patient as we learn. My impression is that she is with us for the long haul over the course of Ro's life. I highly recommend Bossk9. More...

Anna and her crew have been life changing. Our dog Vyvyan suffered from severe dog reactivity and aggressive behaviors with our other senior dog. Boss K9 was our fourth effort at training. Two were positive only and the third utilized corrective only training techniques. We spent several thousand dollars between training and medications over a year and a half. Vyvyan is very food motivated and very smart despite her anxiety, but needed to learn that bad behavior wasn't acceptable. When we sent her to Boss K9 for a four week board and train, she was on two different medications, which we had tapered down from four (!!) at one point. We would have to time when we left the house and how long we would be gone so as not to disrupt her medication schedule.. She hasn't taken or needed a med since the day she arrived at Boss k9! We went in with realistic expectations that there wasn't going to be a magic bullet, but with time, patience, and the follow up sessions that come with a board and train package we have gotten to a place where Vyv can finally live her best life. they lied to me when they told me their abusive methods don't cause significant damage when the scientific community and legitimate experts prove otherwise. they will lie to you too and say prong and shock aka e collars are okay. Many of this "trainers" good reviews are from employees or friend's or fellow abusive trainers. The amount of ignorance and lies they spew about canine behavior and training would be funny if it wasn't for countless dogs being hurt because of it. It doesn't take a rocket science to know you can get a behavior to stop if you hurt or scare them enough. That's why you find a real trainer with a credible background in behavior that can teach them everything without hurting and threatening them. unfortunately anyone can call themselves a dog trainer More...

When my wife and I decided to get a puppy we knew we would need help with training. We are beyond grateful that our research lead us to Boss K9. George started training with Anna when he was 12 weeks old and recently completed a 2 week board and train. Starting early with George helped us get the foundational skills to have a well balanced pup. George just came home a few days ago from his board and train and I can not say enough about how well he is doing. From our training we can truly tell that Anna and her team have the dogs best interest at heart. Anna takes the time to answer every single question we have, has never made us feel rushed during the process, and encourages follow up sessions. More...

I have been working with Anna for 2 weeks with both of my dogs. The progress I have already seen is AMAZING!! She is so patient not only with my pups but with me! I love her hands on approach and how she walks me through all of the steps and corrects me when needed. I would highly recommend her!! I would not trust my dogs to just anyone! More...

I highly recommend Boss K9. I brought Pootie to them for child and dog aggression. He was also very insecure. He came back to me happy to show me what he learned. I didn’t realize that the problem was me. Anna has shown us how to communicate effectively. Now every morning I put his collar on him he gets so happy and excited because he knows it’s Pootie and mommy time. We start our training and it’s the start of a beautiful day. My stress is lowered and he is more secure because we are speaking the same language. He is getting confidence and security around children and other animals now that I have learned to give him guidance and boundaries. When we have play time and we always do, it makes it that much more enjoyable because he has expended his focused energy on training and now he can focus on playing. Thank you Anna,Bethany and Jethro for helping us understand each other. Now we can enjoy a healthy life together! More...

I have an 8ish year old American English Coonhound named Hank and he has some severe car anxiety and some separation anxiety, or I guess I should say "had! " I found Anna and BossK9 on Instagram and reached out to see if she could help me get Hank into a better mindset when we get in the car to go places. He used to howl like a madman due to his excitement and anxiety in the car, to the point that someone once called the police on me while I was driving him to the Rocky River dog park. After 8 weekly sessions with Anna and some work at home, I just completed a 3000+ mile roadtrip from Cleveland to Houston, to New Orleans, and back, all with the dog peacefully snoozing in the backseat! He will even walk right by my side, off-leash, and it's all thanks to Anna and her balanced training techniques! Give BossK9 a call for any level of behavior correction, she certainly knows what she's doing! More...

When I got Chico he was just over a year old. He never had his shots let alone any training. I never had a young pup and didn’t know what I was in for. Chico and I learned so much through private training sessions with Anna. Chico has calmed down, learned how to walk on a lead without pulling, gained confidence and knows all the common commands a dog needs to know! He still has lots to learn but I now understand how to manage him and help him keep learning! All thanks to Boss K9! Thank you Anna! More...

Anna has done a wonderful job with my 3 year old Doberman. Achilles before Boss K9 came along would instantly shut down, have anxiety, and not follow commands once he was in a public environment. He'd regress to becoming people and dog aggressive. Fast Forward from months and months of training he now can walk like a show dog, enter unfamiliar environments and not have a care in the world. Anna has changed his life for the better and we can't thank her enough!! More...

Anna did a awesome job with Ozzie. Ozzie has severe anxiety with everything. He was showing aggression to people and animals. He was never comfortable in his surroundings. We knew Ozzie would be a big challenge for Anna. Although Ozzie was one of the most challenging dogs she has had to work with, Anna wouldn’t give up. We were very happy to see the results. Knowing Ozzie is a special dog, we weren’t expecting much, but Anna really helped Ozzie. She helped Ozzie learn to deal with his surroundings and cope with new situations. Most importantly, Anna taught our family how to deal with Ozzie. She taught us to recognize when he is getting anxious or over excited and how to deal with it. Now, Ozzie is so much better. I can take him on nice walks everyday. He follows commands and is more comfortable with his surroundings. Thank you so much for helping Ozzie and our family.❤️ More...

Anna has been incredible to work with! It is very clear that her goal is to help your dog create a healthy lifestyle that works with your family. We used Boss K9 for the 3 week board and train for our 8 month year old Australian Shepherd. We are very impressed with the amount of progress our puppy made during those 3 weeks. She learned several obedience commands and larger issues we faced everyday such as jumping, pulling on the leash, over excitement). Anna came over for a follow up to our house a week after our board and train. At this time we told Anna some of our around the house concerns such as fear of the vacuum cleaner and wiping off her paws. Anna immediately got to work and within 15 minutes our puppy was able to relax while the vacuum was going and we were able to tackle wiping off her paws. Anna is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She is willing to put in whatever time it takes to help your dog succeed. My husband and I highly recommend Boss K9! More...
