Thank you Larry for giving me the tools necessary to reach my goals. As an avid 67 year old golfer who looks forward to his golfing weekends, I'm starting to feel stronger and confident having worked with you over the last 12 weeks. I strongly believe the mobility, stability, balance, and isolated strength programs you instilled in me will not only help my golf game, but beyond that, my entire quality of life.Following your program allows me take control of my body and realize the benefits, rather then my body controlling me and limiting how I live my life. Eliminating the daily aches and pains. Wow!I not only look forward to this golf year, but years to come, knowing that I have done something positive, that will keep me enjoying the game, and doing the things most important to me. More...

I have been working with Larry for the last six months. In that time I have completely changed my health and my body. Not only have I lost almost 20 lbs of unwanted fat, but I have also added a few pounds of lean muscle too! My outlook has changed too. Larry has taught me how to create a new lifestyle that I can manage on my own. I understand the importance of nutrition and I have created new habits around my goals. Larry’s nutrition program is not a diet. I’ve been there and done that. No, this is something that works and that I can comfortably do. Larry is great to work with. In my training sessions, he pushes me harder than I’d push myself, and I have grown to appreciate that. He also knows my limits and I have complete confidence in working with him. It’s not easy carving time out of my schedule week after week, month after month, but no matter how I feel when we start each session, I leave feeling better! If you’re frustrated with how you look and feel, and want to transform your health and your body, I highly recommend that you reach out to Larry Wasserman at Body Basics Fitness! More...

Its been a amazing journey . Larry is the best "personal trainer", mentor , life coach and friend for life . Training sessions are more customized and tailored to individual needs . Have tried many personal trainers who were not addressing my specific needs of body fitness and mobility . Larry knew exactly where to begin with and its still going on . Strongly recommend Body Basics Fitness More...

Larry is an absolute GEM and I am so lucky to have found him. After years of neglecting myself after raising my three kids, I decided it was time to take care of ME with some one-on-one training. Larry does a thorough assessment first and then sets his clients on a path of awareness, improvement, and empowerment. He is kind, patient, and incredibly encouraging. I always look forward to my sessions with him, and I leave his gym feeling energized and stronger. I KNOW I am in the best possible hands. More...

Larry is an awesome trainer and he cares about his clients. I started training with Larry over three years ago to build muscle and to improve my movements with my dog on the agility course. I injured my knee three times playing sports prior to working with Larry so safety is very important to me. More...

Larry at Body Basics Fitness has, without exaggeration, changed my life. I'm officially 65 lbs down since I started at the end of January a year ago. He has been such a source of strength and inspiration, I truly think his training and guidance and friendship is the only reason why I've been able to stick to this lifestyle for so long (I've NEVER been on a healthy "stint" for longer than 2 months before). If you're looking to change your life, this is the place to do it. More...

Larry is a pro! I’ve worked with many trainers in the last 15 years to only be hurt in the long run. Larry understood my hip alignments, the various issues from having a new baby and he helped me strengthen areas that haven’t been worked in quite some time. Plus, I am currently rocking my pre-pregnancy jeans!Larry not only trains, but he educates. I have learned so much about anatomy, the mechanics of my body, and the correct path towards wellness. He knows when to push me and knows when it’s time to slow me down. And not to mention, our jovial conversations always make our sessions fun! Larry, you got this “Mommy of two” back into shape! I feel great, look myself again and have you to thank for this. Thank you! More...

Brought my teenage son (a student-athlete) to Coach Larry to complete a Functional Movement Screening for him, as he has suffered with chronic back pain. Coach Larry not only took us through that process thoroughly, he also provided individualized recommendations for my son. He educated him on technique and shared his knowledge of body specifics that would be beneficial to my son in his training and sport. Highly recommend! More...

I went to Larry this summer to “help me get my body back”, as I had gained 30+ pounds over the past couple of years and was totally disgusted with what I looked like, felt like and completely lost on where or how to start. What I thought was going to be just a physical workout, turned out to be an entire empowerment program. Larry gave me all the tools I needed to change my life! He taught me how to alter my diet to create a new and healthier metabolism. Not only did he teach me a better way to eat, but also the physical training made me stronger and more confident. He is truly one of the most inspirational and motivational people I have ever met and I am grateful for not only the physical changes that took place while under his care, but also the mental and emotional skills to reduce stress, increase energy, avoid injury, and promote sports abilities. His destiny is truly to help and heal others and his training changed my life in ways that were totally unexpected. Its not just about transforming your body, it’s about transforming your mind set, attitudes and outlook. Larry gave me the tools I needed to build a healthier life and his training, presence and spirit helped me build that foundation to do just that! For me, Larry’s work is not just personal training – it is transformation training into a path of personal growth and discovery. More...

Body Basics Fitness has completely changed my opinion on fitness. I was never a person who enjoyed exercising, until I joined Body Basics Fitness. Larry taught me exercises that I could be successful at and together we created goals that I strived to achieve. I became educated in nutrition and diets that could help me reach goals. Larry gave me workouts that I could do on my own and now I actually enjoy exercising because I became successful in what he has taught me. The training I received at Body Basics has completely changed where I see myself going along my fitness journey. Thank you SO much Larry, your training on fitness and nutrition has taught me what I can do for myself in the long run! More...

I've been working out with Larry at Body Basics for about 4 months twice a week and every day people tell me how great I'm looking! Not only is the hard work showing in the physical but my strength, endurance, and knowledge is improved as well. The thing I love most about training with Larry is how knowledgable he is about the science behind fitness. Every session we have he puts in the time to make sure I understand what I'm doing and why as well. He really emphasizes the importance of a strong foundation and good form so you don't get injured. He also is very adaptable with schedules and minor injuries so we never miss a workout. I highly highly recommend him to anyone looking to get healthier, improve their strength and movement, etc. More...

I just started working with Larry! He is unlike any fitness coach that I have worked with. He is kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. For people like me that have not been active, it's a slow process. But that prevents the injury/forced to stop/workout/injury/forced to stop merry go round that I have been on for a while. I have renewed hope and excitement that I will be doing alot more this year because I am partnering with him. More...

I started training with Larry from Body Basics in April of 2015. For the past 7 years I have been suffering with lower back issues and pains from an injury I received working out on my own in 2008. In 2012 I had surgery and over the course of 2.5 years, struggled with weight gain, and not being motivated to get back into shape. One conversation with Larry changed all that and now almost 3 months later I am down almost 25 pounds and have lost inches all over my body. I train with Larry 3 times a week and he has gotten me on a very controlled diet. I have never felt more confident about the way I look and feel.He uses his knowledge of how the body works and your past experiences and creates a work-out that will truly help you achieve your goals. If it wasn't for Larry and Body Basics, I wouldn't be where I am today!!! More...

I have been training/working out with Larry from Body Basics Fitness now for several months.  Prior to my beginning the workouts, I had some shoulder surgery and went through physical therapy for 8-12 weeks.  Larry is extremely helpful both in his approach to working out and his knowledge of the body and tailoring the workouts specific to each individual clients needs.  He is far more knowledgeable than the therapists and not only has my general strength and flexibility improved, but my shoulder is far better, both stronger and more range of motion in 4 weeks than spending 3 months at the therapist.  Not only is Larry great at tailoring a fitness program but he also knows helps with nutrition and all other facets helping to create a healthy lifestyle. I highly recommend Larry and Body Basics Fitness as a trainer, a physical therapist, or just someone to help get you onto the road to a healthy lifestyle. More...

Q&A

In a one-on-one relationship, I help my clients focus on the simple tasks that when practiced with consistency are proven to work. I take a two-phase approach. One aspect is teaching them what they need to know about soft tissue, stretching, movement preparation, training techniques, and everything else necessary to help them take control of their training. The second aspect is all about coaching. In order to sustain long-term gains, you must create new habits around specific goals. Coaching is all about transforming their thought process.

Train your brain and your body will follow. It's all about education and personal development.

Adding value to human life. I love to see the many small "a-ha" moments when people "get it". Focus on the journey of everyday activities and you will eventually travel far beyond your expectations.

That's a very long story, but the short version is this. I was a corporate guy who fell into declining health from the long hours and stress of my work. I was very fortunate in that I was able to make some changes before I got really sick. In addition, I was 30lbs overweight. I joined a gym and found a new lease on life.

Just six months later I decided to become a personal trainer and do that part-time in the early morning. I soon realized that being a trainer and helping people was more gratifying than my corporate job. Over a nine-year period I studied and worked hard to become a true fitness professional. I launched Body Basics Fitness as a part-time business and eventually walked away from the corporate world. It's been another nine years and I've never looked back with a moment of regret.

I have a message that came out of my own mess. I know what it feels like to have clothes in your closet that don't fit, to not want to step on a scale or look in a mirror. I've been through the struggle that many people face. But I also know what it feels like to channel your pain into progress and rise above it.

I think it's important to educate people and I am a good teacher. I don't want people to think that they are going to have to work with me forever. I want to teach people how to manage their health so that they can be their own champion. Personal training is so much bigger than learning how to eat and exercise to lose weight and get fit because the impact of optimal health spills over into everything that we do.
