What makes a great website?
A great website is not only informative but attract to the eye and easy to navigate.
It is also responsive meaning the layout changes depending if you are looking at it on a mobile phone, a tablet or a desktop computer.
A great website will also be relevant to the needs of the company and their industry.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We have a series of questions we ask potential clients before we start work as we need to make sure we fully understand their requirements and needs so we can provide exactly what they are looking for. This then gives us happy clients at the end of the job.
We like to run through these questions on the phone or in person as questions will often crop up from clients in the process of answering these questions.
Describe your creative process.
After fully understanding our clients brief and requirements we then move onto the design stage for websites. For theme based websites for tight budgets we then select a number of templates for the client to choose from. For bespoke websites for larger budgets one of our web designers we come up with 3 design concepts which our client will choose from and this concept will then be developed further by one of our web designers.
Once our client is happy with the proposed design we then move onto the development stage. Then the first draft of the website will be presented to our client for review. Once they are happy with move onto going live with the website. We only make a website live once our client is 100% happy with it.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
After a client has read through our proposal and has asked any questions they may have, we then move onto signed the contract once they are fully happy with what we propose. For one off services we ask for a 50% deposit and for monthly services we ask for payment upfront.
For websites we then need any written content, images and videos they would like to added to the website.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping people and businesses succeed! I also love the mix of design and technical skills that are required and this industry keeps us on our toes - it is constantly changing. For example Google bringing out new algorithms or a new social media platform emerging.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My business partner and I wanted to pool together our complimentary skills and qualifications. She has a diploma with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a HND in graphic design.
We have now built up our business to include other highly skilled and experienced professionals in their field. We have another web designer/developer, a graphic designer, a social media manager, a photographer and a videographer.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because we believe in having a fair and honest partnership with our clients which dont always get in our industry. Our clients also keep the rights to their domain name, you would be surprised how many times this doesnt happen with other companies who then charge their clients hundreds of pounds to keep their domain name.
We also explain in full all costs and details of each of our services upfront. Digital marketing can be a complex subject to most people unless you have worked in the industry. Our proposals are long but we believe it is best for all parties to inform our clients as much as possible from the start.
We never lock our clients into a propriety system like so many other companies who are then have to stay with that company even if they become unhappy with the service. We build websites on WordPress which can be transferred to anyone else to work with.
We believe in never locking our clients into lengthy contracts. All our rolling contracts are monthly contracts unless clients want a discount for paying yearly. This then builds trust and confidence between us and our clients. It also means that we have to maintain high levels of customer service to ensure our clients stay with us.
