Abbey is an amazingly creative and skilled seamstress. I was so impressed with her visions and watching the process happen. Wow! I went to Abbey at Lavendar Elephant with only two requirements--I wanted sustainable fabric, preferably hemp, and I did not want a white wedding dress. What Abbey created was out of this world. Seriously. She was patient as my husband and I changed ideas on her. She listened to us and created the perfect wedding dress and men's suit. For a 55 + bride, I'm not sure I could have wished for a better partner in Abbey! We worked very closely together over 13 months from Denver and the mountains, on hours of conference calls, through mountains of emails, revisions, pictures, plans, and options and Abbey remained, calming, classy, professional and very accommodating. Especially with 5 adult kids and 1 precocious Australian Shepherd involved :-) Abbey had a terrific sense of humor but could get down to business as well! What I appreciated most was that for the artistic style and small details of the event (flowers, lighting, decor, bridal party, entertainment, crew organization..) Her husband was the officiant for my dad's wedding. It was on top of a mountain in the freezing cold. He did a wonderful job! He was professional and on time. I am so thankful that I was able to work with Abbey to complete some alterations on my wedding dress. I had ordered the dress to my personal measurements, but there were some obvious fit and construction issues that had me concerned. I was able to make an appointment with Abbey very quickly, and she had a great eye for how to make the dress fit comfortably while also flattering my body. I felt confident letting her take charge, though she did go over everything she would be doing to my dress with me beforehand. She was very thoughtful and always making sure I felt we were headed in the direction I had envisioned. In the end, the dress fit perfectly, thanks to her talent and hard work. Abbie did an amazing job doing alterations on my dress! I bought a inexpensive dress online, and Abbie made it my dream dress! It was some times hard to schedule appointments since we are both busy, and I had a very short schedule till our wedding day, but Abbie was accommodating to our short time line and had my dress done well before we left for our wedding. Abbey was my wedding planner from start to finish for our wedding on Copper Mountain, CO. We were originally going to get married in the Virgin Islands, but a series of events led us to change our minds and choose Colorado barely only 4 months before our wedding date. My friend that lives in Winter Park, CO recommended Abbey, and from day one she took off with a calm, cool, collected demeanor and creativity that I loved! Every time I was on the ledge, freaking out about the tiniest detail, Abbey was there to talk me down and assume responsibility for things that I found too overwhelming. Abbey at Lavender Elephant is absolutely amazing. It was just a few days before my wedding and I did not have centerpieces or some other aspects of the planning finished. I gave her my vision and she ran with it. She created the most beautiful decor and centerpieces I have ever seen at a wedding-- LAST MINUTE! Abbey was a life saver. I had purchased my dress by myself at a consignment store and had their seamstress start the alterations on it. Not only was she able to fit me in a month before my wedding, but she completely saved the halfway done work that the other seamstress did not do correctly. Abbey, you have an amazing talent. You made my wedding dress dreams go beyond what I could ever imagine. This lady had her hands full when she took me on. I wasn't your normal bride. Wedding dresses and wedding dress shops made me nervous, almost made me ill to my stomach. I went to the David's Bridal to entertain my loved ones but there was no dress that felt like me, no dress that I liked, and honestly I just felt uncomfortable. It made me want to throw up. Wanting to avoid wedding dress shops I turned to the internet. I made the classic mistake and bought a cheap dress from China online. Of course when I got it it was about 4 sizes too big! I took the dress to Abbey to see what she could do. She said Natalie this dress is all wrong for you. I mentioned I had my mother's wedding dress in my car and immediately it was in Abbey's hands. With a few small snips we were on our way. She made me feel excited and happy to be a bride. Our consultations were fun and most importantly I was comfortable through the whole process. I put my trust in her hands, knowing her experience and knowledge. I let her pick out everything from lace to other fabrics. She nailed every detail. Out of the whole getting married thing my wedding dress was never a stress. It was my favorite part of getting married. I'm in love with my dress which was originally my mother's which made it so special. I wish I could wear it everyday. Abbey is AWESOME!! I looked forward to my fittings with her because she was accommodating, professional, SO knowledgeable, relaxed and just a sweet person who REALLY cared about me and my dress. I didn't need a lot of alterations, but she noticed every detail and completed my dress in a very timely manner. Also, she took my moms veil that was a cathedral veil from the 80s and remade it so it fit perfectly with my dress, it was beautiful! Abbey with Lavender Elephant was amazing to work with! I turned to her not only for her convenient location, but her vast knowledge of wedding dresses. After trying on what felt like a hundred awful and uncomfortable dresses I was feeling extremely discouraged and frustrated. During my very first consult we were able to find a dress I liked and planned on adding specific elements to make it a dress I was going to love. My fittings were always fun and relaxing as I watched Abbey work so carefully to make my dress fit perfectly to my body. In the end Abbey took a fairly ordinary tulle dress, and turned it into my dream dress. After working hard in my dress she also made a few of her amazing fabric flowers as accessories to match my bridesmaid dresses! By the time my wedding day arrived Abbey was not only my wedding dress designer and seamstress but an amazing friend who helped me through all of my wedding stress.

I bought my dress on the Front Range because that's where I'm from and went to the alterations woman the shop recommended. She was really nice, but after my first fitting the dress wasn't perfect. I had a strapless sweetheart neckline bodice, covered in gorgeous lace, and I'm small on top. I was already cutting it short on time when I went dress shopping and had to buy the floor sample in a 10. By the time the second round of alterations were done, I didn't have time to pick up the dress, and my mom grabbed it for me.

I take the dress home and realize I can't zip it up by myself. The next night, my friend comes over and squeezes me into the dress-- it hurts, looks awful and I can't breathe! This is not how I wanted to spend my wedding, struggling to breathe and in pain. The seamstress also took a shortcut that ruined the beautiful lines on the back of my gown. This is the Monday before my Saturday wedding! FREAK OUT!

I got the dress to Abbey, and I was nervous about it because there was almost NO time and I had already had a bad experience with the alterations. Plus, I know altering a structured bodice like my gown had was a very technical job. Abbey took SO much care with my alterations and NAILED IT. She did everything the right way and wasn't scared to take the dress apart to make it fit and looks seamlessly perfect. She also took the time to do multiple fittings to make sure the fit was right on.

Abbey's customer service was so calming at a high stress time, and her expertise and knowledge of garment production makes her a very skilled tailor, even for something as high stakes and technical as altering a structured wedding gown bodice down about 4 sizes!
