We have just come back from a stay at Blackadon Barn Cottages, I booked Blackadon Barn Cottages about 8 months in advance, we had excellent communication through email and phone with Jacky, she was very accommodating and flexible with bed arrangements. ||||I was emailed local guide and things to do and detailed directions. || We stayed in Buzzard Barn, Heather Cottage and Farm Cottage between 31 of us. The place was lovely and the cottages were very clean and all bedding and fluffy towels were provided smelt fresh.||||The kitchens were supplied with kitchen tissue rolls and bin liners, and very well supplied utensils and plates and glasses more than enough for our stay.||There were Irons available in the laundry room. There was a £1 charge for the washing machine (we didn’t use). There were hairdryers available to use also. ||There was also Wi-Fi in the lounge area and a games room (table tennis) and a selection of board games, which also had a large chest freezer. ||||The good thing is all the bedrooms have an en-suite however some en-suites were better than others, some were just plastic shower cubicle with a plastic door, the beds were very comfortable. Toilet rolls and handwash were provided in the bathroom. ||Personally I think the main kitchen upstairs would have benefited from a commercial dishwasher rather than a domestic one, like many places I have stayed in large groups this helps out having a ( 2min wash cycle). ||||The only criticism I have is to get from upstairs to downstairs you had to go through Heather cottage thus disturbing the occupants alternately walk around the outside, so a strange layout. We booked their large Buzzard barn for a family birthday celebration weekend for 22 people. The whole experience, from enquiry to leaving was awesome. Easy and straightforward booking. Easy to find, large well equipped rooms, excellent sized kitchen with tons of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. Huge fridges and freezer storage and large tables and plenty of seating. The house was warm and their was plenty of hot water. Dogs are welcome and loads of open space for walking them. The owners were around and available if needed, but not in any way pushy or awkward. I would totally recommend them to anyone for a small, private weekend away or a huge family party/getaway. Thank you for your hospitality. More...

We stayed in buzzard cottage. It has 10 bedrooms, over two floors. Unfortunately there is no access between the two floor internally and if you want to go between floors you have to walk all the way around which was a bit of a pain. Upstairs the rooms for the most part were nice and spacious all with on suites. A really well stocked kitchen that can easily accommodate the size of party expected. The dinning area and Livingroom were brilliant easily fitting all 20 of our party. It was lovely to find a place that can accommodate such a large group and have the space for us all to eat together. There were a few minor issues things like gas rings not working on the cookers, one rooms sockets didn't work. Downstairs was a bit damp. There were only two black bins for all of the cottages which isn't really enough with them being able to accommodate over 30 people. There is wifi however in most of buzzard cottage upstairs and down it couldn't be connected to as the signal was too weak. Although you don't go on holiday to go on the internet it is sometimes essential for finding local attractions etc. Parking is limited especially with there being 20 of us with 5 cars and other guests. Some of the cottages have allocated spaces but buzzard cottage has none and it did feel a little like all the cars were in the way. The owners were very welcoming and very helpful with advice about places to go and things to do in the local area. I've been really picky here to give you a good idea of the place but a 4 star rating is well deserved especially for the price. More...

Arrived at buzzard cottage, blackadon barns as a surprise to celebrate my 30th birthday. Over 20 of my friends and family (plus dog) joined me and all agreed - this is an amazing place to stay. ||Warm and welcoming staff who were on site and immediately on hand if any problems arose (we had a slight issue with the heating). ||Cleverly renovated to comfortably accommodate so many people. The family room was one of the best we've ever stayed in. The towels and linen were of good quality and smelt beautiful-clearly freshly laundered before our arrival.|| Kitchen and lounge areas were large and spacious which was perfect when we all congregated and partied! ||Peaceful and quiet surroundings with absolutely stunning views and gorgeous areas to walk and explore. That said, there are shops and attractions only a short car/bus ride away.||Washing lines and benches outside with a barbeque area for the summer. We were unable to use it as it was the wrong time of the year but no doubt would be pleasant if you were visiting in the summer or a longer stay.||Stargazing is a must if you are there on a clear night. Would be perfect to view from a hot tub but sadly they don't have one....perhaps something to think about for the future ;-).||Would HIGHLY recommend visiting blackadon barns & will certainly be returning again.||||N.B - (if you have children) that the downstairs rooms are well away from the kitchen/dining/living areas upstairs and only accessible by walking through another cottage or by walking around the outside of the building. If you intend to put your children to bed then continue to socialise, you will be best with one of the rooms 'upstairs'. More...
