The Greysolon Ballroom is a stunning location in the heart of Duluth. From what I understand, it used to be a hotel but was repurposed as a community center and a ballroom. You walk in and you're struck with a bit of awe and the grandeur and old design of the place, it truly is beautiful. But, as it's such an old building , there are flaws. If you want to get to the ballroom, you have to use the elevator. This thing is SLOW. And there are no stairs that will take you directly up to the ballroom, they were closed off (not sure why). And not only is the elevator slow but it mainly alternated between the lobby and main level that houses the community center so good luck getting to the ballroom in less than 5 minutes. But, once you finally arrive the place is very nice. They have a cute little coat check and everything was set up in advance of the event we hosted. We also asked for an additional table for name tags and they obliged immediately. The drinks here are STRONG but you won't see me complaining. They even had some winter seasonal cocktails you could order that sounded nice. The sit down dinner began with a salad, which was fine, and then we were released by table to go to the buffet (which isn't a buffet because you can't go back, but is served buffet style). The food was amazing. I was extremely stuffed and then they passed out the dessert. The cake was more like a thick fudge but was also very good. The acoustics in the room, when many people are talking at once, are not great. It's hard to hear and equally as hard to get people to be quiet. The Greysolon team was amazing and made everything easy and seamless. The day of went perfect and beautiful without a hitch. The team was always prompt and so organized for the entire planning process and especially the day of. We are so glad that we chose to get married here. We received endless compliments from many people and a lot of our older relatives made a point to say that it was the prettiest and nicest wedding they had ever been to. The Moorish Room in the Greysolon was the most perfect venue for our vintage glam wedding. You could get away with minimal decorating because the space itself is so beautiful, and they even have a decor package that will take care of everything! The staff made every single part of our day such a terrific experience! We worked primarily with Korah on all the nitty gritty details beforehand, she was amazing. The day of leads took great care of us to make sure everything went off without a hitch.The food was delicious! We had champagne chicken and sirloin steak and heard nothing but great reviews from our guests. The late night pretzel bite station was also a huge hit!They made the whole process very fun and easy. If there is a more perfect location for a wedding I have yet to see it. Every - single - moment of every interaction with literally every member of the team was simply put perfect. The entire team is composed of the most professional and down to earth people that you could hope to encounter.It was the privilege of our lives to have our wedding in your venue. If you are looking for a space to host your wedding or other event, STOP YOUR SEARCH RIGHT NOW AND BOOK W/ GREYSOLON. I heard about the old Duluth Hotel through a book I had read about Glensheen. I wondered why I hadn't heard of this place. So, I Googled it to find that it was now, Greysolon by Blackwoods. Fast Forward to my, now husband, proposing in Duluth. I had been thinking about where we were going to find an affordable, as stress-less-as-possible-venue that was special and well-suited to my unique tastes. We happened upon the building and I said, we have to go in! A wedding was happening that day and we gawked for a moment at the Moorish Room space. I was immediately in love. If we could afford it, we were booking it. I thought, no way was it in our price range. I called Monday and spoke to Jax. She is so nice and helpful. Finding out that we could in fact afford a wedding on a SATURDAY, I booked the venue without a proper tour or looking at any other venues. This was our place and I never looked back. I am so beyond happy that I did that. Working with Korah was a dream. She answered my many emails and questions. The tasting was wonderful. The food on the day of the wedding was just as good, if not better, than the tasting. I was worried that the tasting would be better than the food served on the day, but that was NOT the case. Everything was phenomenal right down to the late night pizza and pretzel bar. Even the donut and water station was awesome. I wanted to hire aerialists and Korah helped me get approval from the building owner to allow them to perform in the lobby. Our day was positively magical and so us. Heidi and David were our day of people w/ Greysolon and they were awesome. Heidi got me a drink when I requested one early. The bridal suite is gorgeous. We got so many compliments from guests that saw the bridal suite and many people said it was the nicest wedding they'd seen right down to the bridal suite. As gorgeous as I remembered! The Greysolon Ballroom is a beautiful, elegant place. I have been here twice for the Zenith conference, and both times it has been very well set up, very well staffed, and very well attended. My one complaint would be that the bathrooms are always extremely hot! And also, it's a little hard to tell when they are occupied. Luckily, I was not one of the victims of this particular downside. My daughter & I attended the Mother Daughter Dance here and all I can say is that they did such a great job! It was beautiful! We had so much fun dancing the night away and taking a bunch of silly pictures with all three of the photo booths that they had. The only thing that I could say they could have done better with is to possibly have more seating for dining. We were unable to find seats at the dining tables so we had to go sit in the other area near the bar to eat out dinner. More...

We just got married here last weekend and it was amazing. The staff was fantastic. Any issue we could have had they fixed it. They even continually checked in on guests. Without them I know the night would have turned stressful, with them it was relaxing and a breeze.
