We drove three hours to serve this bakery's cake at our wedding.  It was so worth it! My wife ordered cupcakes that matched the ocean ombré themed wedding cake.  We gifted the cupcakes as favors for our guests. We had a tasting with Kort for our wedding cake and after it, we didn't feel the need to try any others. Kort created a beautiful cake that was absolutely delicious and it was exactly what I had envisioned. We knew we wanted a cake with real pressed flowers and sprinkles, and it was done perfectly. We decided on two flavors - walnut cake with cream cheese frosting, and lemon cake with pistachio buttercream and fresh raspberries. Kort helped me bring my marble wedding cake vision to life! I came to the consultation with some inspiration photos and he was able to help me talk through the design. His pricing is a little higher but he uses quality ingredients that you can taste. His buttercream is not like your typical thick, super sweet frosting you find on most cakes. It's very light with just the right amount of sweetness. We ended up going with his "strawberry shortcake" - vanilla cake with Italian buttercream & fresh strawberry filling. My husband and I got many compliments on our cake! Kort was not only able to deliver a beautiful cake but also worked with us to stay within our budget! There were a few minor hiccups with communication with his assistant and correcting our invoice, but they were taken care of at the end. Ordered our wedding cakes from Bjorn Cakes and I was really happy with how they turned out and how flexible Kort was with our kind of last minute changes. First things first - the tasting. We chose to try out membrillo, lemon, ghirardelli chocolate, coconut cakes filled with lemon curd, passion fruit curd cream cheese, and dulce de leche. I was surprised that we didn't get slices of cakes but instead beautiful little cakes. Awesome presentation. As an aside, at least when we went to visit his shop it was actually rented space downstairs from a chocolate shop. So while the setting itself wasn't anything glamorous, we were there for awesome cake, nothing else. I also appreciated that he wrote to confirm our appointment the day before. When a vendor didn't confirm with me a day before a tasting or visit it made me a bit worried that they'd forgotten about me. We ended up going with a membrillo cake with whipped cream cheese italian buttercream, coconut cake with dulce de leche and a vegan vanilla/vanilla gluten free cake. HOWEVER, while we started out the wedding planning as vegetarians leaning vegan, we decided to try and veganize as much of our wedding as possible a couple of months prior to the wedding. Kort worked with us and let us know what would and wouldn't be possible. We ended up with two vegan cakes. The membrillo cake as a vegan cake was DELICIOUS. I didn't try the non-vegan coconut/dulce de leche cake because the last thing I needed was to be sick on my wedding night, but many people said that while they were both delicious they actually preferred the vegan membrillo cake! Talent!Kort also drove our cakes over from Chicago and I was really impressed/happy with how much care he took. It was a hot day and he was very worried about how they would hold up. I'm making an update to my previous review of Bjorn Cakes. After seeing my initial review, the owner of Bjorn Cakes reached out to apologize for the fact that I wasn't happy with my birthday cake and offered to make me a new one. The fact that they read and took my review seriously was nice to see and the offer to make me an entirely new cake was not only gracious, but also showed that they go above and beyond to provide a great customer service and ensure customers are satisfied. The new cake was #4 Champagne Celebration-Champagne cake filled with either vanilla bean pastry cream and strawberries or creme brûlée. Can say enough good things about them. I order a cake from somewhere else and they were unable to deliver at the time I needed. I called Bjorn Cakes last minute (3 days before the event) and she was able to accommodate. Sent a picture from Pinterest and she match it identical. Great Communication throughout the process. Informed me when it was delivered and they work with a lot of 5 star restaurants in the Downtown area. Cake was beautiful and my wife enjoyed it for her birthday. We ordered a birthday cake literally 24 hours before we needed it and they did a fantastic job!! Not only was the cake ready as mentioned it looked beautiful! I was a guest at Carina & Daisy's wedding last night and tried the wedding cake, truly expecting it to taste as "average" as any other wedding cake. Boy was I wrong!! The cake was the BEST wedding cake I've ever had. It was beautiful and had fresh flowers and a perfectly smooth finish. The buttercream was beyond any I've ever had before. We ordered a wedding cake, macarons, and mini cupcakes for our dessert table at our wedding (5/25/19) which were all delicious. The initial meeting/tasting was adorable and we got to taste so many lovely options. We ended up going with a simple look of 2 tiered buttercream exterior but the cake was what made it... moist almond cake with fresh strawberries, yum! My daughter and her partner (now husband) wanted the food at their wedding to be vegan. I was charged with ordering a cake that would fit the occasion and taste good. I started with samples from a few bakeries in Chicago. Bjorn Cakes provided the prettiest and tastiest options. I worked directly with Kort and sent pictures to him of what my daughter wanted the cake to look like. He made some suggestions, which I really appreciated. The cake was successfully delivered by Bjorn Cakes in Chicago to the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe for the wedding. Kort even supplied a lovely cake stand that we used for the event. Many guests commented on how delicious the cake was (almond cake with buttercream frosting - all vegan). I would highly recommend this bakery and will definitely call on them again! More...

I called Bjorn Cakes in April for a custom Puppy Dog Pals cake for my nephews 1st birthday. They explained to me how to go through the form of what cake I wanted, fillings and design. Mind you my nephews party was scheduled for May 3rd so that was plenty of time for them to design my cake. Fast forward to a week before the party, my nephew  got very ill and we had to cancel, rather postpone the party. The Bjorn staff understood and worked with me through all my changes and delays, because at that point I didn't know if we were going to ever have a party. Today, is the day of his party and when we picked up the cake it was everything I expected and more. The cake looked better than the picture. They are amazing to work with and very understanding when it comes to postponing. My wedding was May 5th 2019 at at Dinolfos Banquets in homer Glen from the first time meeting Kort and have our cake tasting I could choose any other bakery. I planned a birthday for my mother in Chicago from my home in Oklahoma, so all coordination was done via email. When I say Kort and peers made this the most painless, effortless process possible for me, I mean that. There is so much I want to say, but I don't know where to begin. Firstly, the cake was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Kort did a mini, 3-tier wedding cake and to my exact specifications. My expectations were EXCEEDED, and my mother literally began to cry when she saw the cake. It was the focal point of the party, and EVERYONE wanted to know where it came from. Secondly, the cake was BOMB.COM!! The fresh strawberries, sugar roses, buttercream...my goodness. We were blown away. Beautiful AND delicious, with amazing customer service sprinkled on top C'mon!! Additionally, I rented a GORGEOUS cake stand from them but totally forgot it at the venue I booked for the party. I was involved in a serious injury accident the night of the party, and called Kort to let him know. YALL, THIS MAN SENT SOMEONE TO GO GET THE CAKE STAND FOR ME SO I COULD REST UP AND HEAL! We did a wedding cake tasting with Bjorn Cakes and were so incredibly impressed with the aesthetic of the cakes here.The tasting was beautifully set up, and we tried four flavors: champagne, strawberry shortcake, chocolate, and lemon. Unlike other tastings, we tasted actual mini cakes which was great to get an idea of what the final product would look like. My fiancé, who's normally very picky with sweets, loved three out of the four! And we were both blown away by the ingredients used. The champagne cake had a filling, frosting, and crusted sugar on top, and the chocolate cake had ganache in the middle in addition to caramel and buttercream filling. Definitely not your typical wedding cake -- but in a really good way!Also worth mentioning: Kort, the owner, seemed like the absolute nicest and most accommodating person ever. Had an autumn wedding back in November '18, and my wife and I wanted someone to do a maple carrot cake for us so as to keep with the autumnal feeling. We tried some other bakers, but none could get the right flavor or feel of the cake. Kort from Bjorn Cakes rose to the occasion and made a very simple two-tier cake for our wedding reception, but it packed the flavor and right weight that it easily got eaten up without any leftovers.
