This almost feels like a scam. We had a free consultation with Dr. Mamiko after finding out our insurance wouldn’t cover couples counseling. She quoted us at $1200 for an “8 hour session” and said she was giving us the package at “90% off”. During the consult, I told her about my mental health history. When I mentioned my brief inpatient stay in high school (for depression), she immediately turned to my partner and asked him how this made him feel “unsafe”. This did not seem appropriate, and was not in line with someone who has supposedly been a therapist/psychologist for the last 30 years. In the past two days since the consultation she has messaged us multiple times, and recently decided to try and FaceTime us at 11:30PM. Felt very unprofessional. More...
