Birchtree was the backbone of our wedding and we really could not be more thankful for their expertise, their helpfulness, or their incredible food. It was far more than just a food vendor: Nicole, our coordinator, was so incredibly helpful, a total boss, super responsive, and though of everything that this very overwhelmed bride managed to let slip by. Her advice and recommendations were invaluable to us and we just adore her—she is the perfect person for this job.
As far as the food: my husband and I are self proclaimed foodies, whose shared passion and hobby is, literally, cooking and eating and talking about food. Birchtree's chefs are outstanding, the food was spectacular, and I've lost count of how many people told us how delicious it was during and after the wedding. I wanted to bring Allegra and Rasa home with me! I truly can't recommend Birchtree Catering enough after an outstanding and delicious rehearsal dinner last weekend. We selected them from out of town based on past reviews and awards; also loved the fact that they are woman-owned as well as their commitment to sustainability. After a year of planning and tweaking, our dinner was spot on. It was arranged beautifully, was plentiful and absolutely delicious. The format, set in a two-story venue, included cocktails and appetizer board on the main floor prior to dinner, then dinner buffet upstairs with bridal party and family, then dessert buffet back in original main floor space with all the additional out of town guests joining the fun after the dinner hour. It flowed perfectly and desserts were just as delicious as the rest. All rave reviews from our guests. Allegra and Rasa provided supportive and creative planning, integrated all of our ideas (which was not easy with multiple visions and dietary needs), and created a unique and amazing event for us. They were communicative and responsive from the beginning of our planning to the very end of our event. Hated for it to end. Birchtree Catering catered my December 2014 bridal shower, and I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this company. They were professional, so pleasant, and made the event one of a kind. I especially loved the starters; oh my goodness they were delectable! What really showed us how top notch this company was though, was their attention to detail. For example, when I walked in, the servers knew I would want to greet all my friends and family, and would therefore likely miss the appetizers. They put a plate with a selection of the appetizers at my seat, so I wouldn't miss trying them out. Thank goodness too, because those corn fritters were the best thing I've ever eaten. They also noticed that one of my guests looked cold in the venue, and offered her a hot drink before the meal. I mean how often do you get a team that would be so on top of every detail? Everyone that went to the event said that this was the nicest bridal shower they've ever been to. It's all down to my wonderful maid of honor, and the amazing help she got from Birtchtree Catering! Birchtree gave us the most magical wedding and saved it from multiple disasters without me even knowing. The venue had no power. Rasa and her crew made ice boxes and somehow cooked without power. They tracked down a generator at the last minute so we would have music and light in the tent. And when there was a horrendous tent over the ceremony area, which I had been crying about, they had it taken down in 10 minutes flat. This doesn't even cover their amazing food, design, coordination and shared joy over our wedding. I cannot say enough great things about Birchtree. They catered my wedding and I would use them again for any event I am having. Lets start from the beginning! Our tasting with Chef Rasa was amazing. She listened to what we wanted and was able to change some dishes based on our preferences. Then Nicole, the wedding manager, is absolutely amazing. Since we are not from Pennsylvania our main form of conversation was by phone or e-mail. She was so responsive and would spend the time with us on the phone until we felt comfortable. I’m going to be honest; I didn’t know all the ins and outs of a wedding. But Nicole was there to guide my husband and me. She made my husband feel and me comfortable.

Leading up to the wedding, we had some confusion with our venue (not Birchtree’s faults at all!). But Nicole was amazing and she took control and got things figured out. She seriously wins wedding planner of the year.

On the day of everything was absolutely perfect. Birchtree put out my centerpieces and decorations. They did a great job. The Birchtree staff was amazing. While we were doing our photographs, they came out with drinks and food while also serving our guests at a different location. The waiting staff was very professional and friendly. Now lets talk about the food… it is probably hands down the best food I have had! Everything was cooked on site. Which is something they always do! This is one of the first catering experiences where they cook on site. It really makes a difference. The food was fresh and warm. Birchtree was such an important part in making my day so special. Birchtree is so much more than just a caterer. We married at Awbury Arboretum two weeks ago (May 2018). Nicole and Rasa from Birchtree talked with us multiple times in the months leading up to the wedding, creating a customized menu based on our likes and wants. Nicole helped us plan the entire way, providing insight and suggestions based on our style and wedding vision. Day of, we were so incredibly impressed with the Birchtree team on-site. Everything was flawless - from the food (which received many many rave reviews and was delicious), to set-up, timeline, and everything in between, including calming this anxious bride! Overall, we loved working with Birchtree for our wedding at Awbury Arboretum. We had a few communication hiccups in first setting up our contract, but once we were rolling, they were very on top of every detail. We were happy to rely on their expertise, and they definitely listened when we told them what was and wasn't important to us. The one bit of advice that felt off was our bar buying guide. They gave us a wild overestimate for our 60-person guest list that went beyond what even a heavy-drinking crowd (which we were not) could possibly consume. We were able to return some, but it was a more annoying experience than it needed to be, carting heavy boxes back and forth. More importantly--the food was absolutely incredible, and they were awesome about customizing a menu for us. We had a great time at our tasting with Chef Rasa! Maria was on site the day of, and she was perfection. The team did such a wonderful job paying attention to all the little details and timeline (things I thought I'd have time and attention to do but absolutely did not!). When I found Birchtree, I was so excited to have found a women-owned, sustainable business that focused on local, seasonal food, but I was worried that it was too good to be true. My fears were dispelled completely at our tasting, where we were just wowed. Rasa was so thoughtful and responsive in helping us put together our menu. I should note that our friends and family know us as big food people, and are themselves adventurous eaters with refined palates, so I felt a lot of pressure to have excellent food at our wedding. Looking back, I would absolutely choose Birchtree again - no question. The food was memorable and so delicious.

Separate from the food, however, I'm not sure that without Nicole from Birchtree we would have had a wedding. We were totally clueless about planning a wedding, and Nicole was just straight up our rock. She anticipated every detail and posed every question conceivable. It was so incredibly comforting, especially in the last, most stressful months/ weeks of preparation, to know that Nicole wouldn't let anything fall through the cracks. In fact, when I seemed relaxed to those around me leading up to the wedding, I told them that I simply wasn't worried; I knew things were going to be fine, beautiful, and better than I could have planned/envisioned because Nicole had it under control. When we chose Birchtree, we had no idea how impactful and instrumental the coordination they provide would be. I am wary of hyperbole in writing this review because I don't want to come across as disingenuous, but I cannot imagine a better alternative to Birchtree. The Birchtree Staff came in for a work lunch tasting. I would say our group was very very pleased with the quality of their work. Chef Raza and Nicole are the best team you can want for your wedding. My now husband and I got married on 8/19/2017 and the process to prepare the meal, tasting open bar, decoration as well the coordination of the entire event was literally flawless. Chef Raza took all the time to tweak the menu till we were 100% happy. Nicole was born to be an event coordinator and kept us on track before as well as during our wedding. She made sure we as couple and all our guests had everything you can possibly imagine. Nicole took time to ensure we as couple don't go crazy on our special day by constantly guiding her staff. Raza's food made our guests and us speechless and if I could I marry again just to experience it again. My husband and I used Birchtree Catering for our wedding. We were very happy with our experience. A few details:

--amazing food— creative menu options, beautifully presented, delicious, specified to our taste.

--event planning details—worked with our venue directly to arrange details. They visited the reception site with us and spent an hour and a half talking through logistics with us & the site staff, in addition to meeting with us several other times. Rasa & Allegra really went above and beyond to make sure things would run smoothly.

--decorations—helped improve and implement my ideas, did all the day-of set-up-- hanging lights, arranging centerpieces/place cards/favors, etc.

--personal touches—really accommodating and willing to help us execute the details that made our wedding feel personal. When we told them we wanted to set up croquet & badminton for our guests to play on the lawn during the cocktail hour, they suggested adding a mini-bar—perfect for a summer wedding!

I cannot express how much I loved Birchtree Catering for my wedding.

For any of the ladies our there who want to have a unique, almost anthroplogie-type wedding, these ladies will make it happen.

The food was delicious (Rasa is an amazing chef). The wedding day ran smooth (Allegra is tightly organized and professional). Everything looked gorgeous (Jenna has a flawless eye for design). I was as equally as stunned as my guests.

As any bride would, I felt stressed and overwhelmed when I started planning, and after meeting Birchtree everything fell into place. I got butterflies any time we met. They were always on top of everything during the whole process.

Being an Art Director as my profession, I really had a specific vision (anybody who knows graphic designers and art directors know they're anal about detail).

We used birchtree's catering and decor services for our August 2014 wedding at Colonial Dames. Our wedding day went so smoothly - it was perfect! -- and a lot of credit goes to Birchtree.

Catering: We knew from the minute we met Rasa and Allegra that they would be perfect for us. They are so down-to-earth, very professional, not pushy in the least. They listened to what kind of reception we wanted to have and, although a little non-traditional, they totally made it happen. We had a stationed dinner - and chose a summer feast theme - they totally nailed it. They helped us work within the budget and created a fantastic, unique menu - we couldn't believe how much we could get for the money we spent. Everything was delicious and our guests LOVED the food.

Decor: we went back and forth about whether we should use decor services, but after speaking w/ Jenna and seeing pictures of the events she and her team did, we decided to go for it. Jenna was really great to work with -- we communicated a lot through pinterest boards and she totally understood our vision. We had an idea of how we wanted things to look, but Jenna took our ideas and made it into something tangible. They created our signage, backdrop for our dessert display, a flower arch for our ceremony, and just made everything EXACTLY how we wanted it. They paid attention to EVERY detail.

Alcohol: B/c our venue allowed us to bring our own alcohol, we worked with their head bartender to pick signature cocktails and mixers and they helped us with a bar buying guide. This was SO incredibly helpful so we didn't end up with not enough of 1 thing or another.

Coordination: We had both allegra and natalie help coordinate the day and it went off w/o a hitch. they were so helpful - ready with everything, including a stain pen for when I got something on my dress and a sewing kit when I needed help with my bustle.

After talking with several other caterers and receiving what felt like canned proposals, we finally found exactly what we had been searching for in Birchtree Catering.

From our very first contact, Rasa took the time to learn about us and engage in our story and in response crafted an incredible menu inspired by the foods and ingredients that we’ve shared in our relationship. They aced the tasting and then executed perfectly at the wedding. The beautifully presented family style dishes elicited loads of compliments and even more clean plates. Every element, from the signature cocktails down to the bar snacks, were coordinated to create an experience that was uniquely “us”.

Birchtree’s design services allowed us the freedom to DIY when we wanted to and delegate when we didn’t. Jenna created a proposal that captured the mood and style we were looking for and organized all of the little details to make it perfect. She arranged antique furniture pieces and decor that we provided to create beautiful tablescapes and an intimate outdoor patio, and created custom signage for every component of the event styled to match the save-the-dates and invitations that we had created ourselves. She beautifully organized our homemade marmalade favors, and even provided all of the bouquets and boutonnieres for the bridal party!

In the weeks leading up to the event, the Birchtree team accommodated last minute requests and made sure everything was organized and coordinated so that we felt confident and relaxed on our wedding day. Our day of coordinator Alexandra made sure that our other vendors were organized and took charge of the timing of the ceremony in support of our first-time officiant. She even made sure we had some food and drinks set up in the back room that we briefly retreated to immediately after the ceremony.

My wife and I wanted a caterer that was local to Philadelphia and one who used fresh, seasonal ingredients in a simple, but elegant way. After doing some research online, we found Birchtree and never second guessed our decision. Allegra and Rasa were such an amazing team to work with. Birchtree recently catered my wedding at The Powerplant and it was amazing! The planning process was made easy with help from chef Rasa and our coordinator, Annie. When you work with Birchtree, you aren't picking from some list of limited or formulaic package deals. I felt like the possibilities were endless!

We had so many options and choices with our food and everything was so customizable. Everything from our cocktail hour (a mix of passed appetizers + a cheese board) to our signature cocktails to our family style dinner was great. There was lots of food and it was quality as well as quantity. Birchtree sources from local farms and everything they use is in season. Sustainable & local aren't just buzzwords. It's nice to know that you are helping to support local farms and businesses and all produce used is in season for the best flavor. Birchtree also supplies a very helpful bar buying guide and made specific recommendations which came in VERY helpful, especially when it came to knowing which specific wines would go well with the food they were serving. The food was delicious and our guests kept saying to us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. They handled the set-up for us and were super flexible throughout the entire planning process. When we remembered 2 weeks before that a few guests had dietary restrictions, Birchtree easily accommodated. On our wedding day, they made sure we got plenty of food, always had drinks in our hand, and kept track of the schedule so that we could just enjoy the party. Birchtree was wonderful to work with at every stage of the process. The tasting was fantastic and Rasa was super helpful in designing a menu that fit our foodie personalities, while still being a crowd-pleaser. Our coordinator was great - we did multiple walkthroughs at the venue to hammer out every detail, including many I hadn't even thought about it, that insured that on our wedding day both my husband and I had an awesome time and weren't worried at all about any logistics. Birchtree was particularly great when it came to handling questions from my mother-in-law who is very detail-oriented and worrisome. Birchtree recently catered my wedding at The Powerplant and it was amazing! The planning process was made easy with help from chef Rasa and our coordinator, Annie.  When you work with Birchtree, you aren't picking from some list of limited or formulaic package deals.  I felt like the possibilities were endless! We had so many options and choices with our food and everything was so customizable. Everything from our cocktail hour (a mix of passed appetizers + a cheese board) to our signature cocktails to our family style dinner was great.  There was lots of food and it was quality as well as quantity.  Birchtree sources from local farms and everything they use is in season.  Sustainable & local aren't just buzzwords.  It's nice to know that you are helping to support local farms and businesses and all produce used is in season for the best flavor. Birchtree also supplies a very helpful bar buying guide and made specific recommendations which came in VERY helpful, especially when it came to knowing which specific wines would go well with the food they were serving. I catered food for an office 5 year anniversary party, and the experience was wonderful from beginning to end.  The woman who i placed the order with, Kaitlyn, was very pleasant and informative. . i wasn't sure what to order and she was helpful with suggestions.  The woman who delivered the food, a different Kaitlyn, was great as well..she made the set up very easy and stress-free. The food itself was SO SO good, everyone at the party raved about the dishes..and the company i work for has extremely high standards.  It was also a nice touch that they provided posh little cards with the name of the entree in front of each dish. Working with Birchtree Catering for our April 29th wedding at Power Plant Productions was amazing. They offered a cocktail style reception, which is exactly what I envisioned for our reception (more eat and mingle versus sit-down dinner and dancing) At first, I was nervous that our guests would leave from the event still hungry, but after our tasting, from which we departed absolutely stuffed, I realized there was nothing to worry about. The food was delicious and plentiful, and they worked with us to make our menu exactly what we wanted (our desserts especially). Finally, our day-of coordinator, Annie, was great. During both of our walk-throughs, she guided us and asked questions that made us think about aspects of our ceremony and reception we would never have considered (What will we use to cut the cake? How do we want to display the cake? What did we want to drink after our recessional?). She was extremely detail-oriented, which made everything the day of go off without a hitch. I would recommend Birchtree for any event.  Birtchtree catered my small backyard wedding. They never had the attitude that less than 50 people wasn't worth their time, which was an issue with many companies.  Rasa was fantastic to work with through the whole process - from tasting, to menu tweaks, to invoicing (all of which were made slightly harder because we were planning from DC, not Philly).  I would work with her again in a heartbeat.Everything from the tasting to the food to the service was top notch.  We were completely comfortable with the caterers in our home and with set up.  Staff was professional and warm/welcoming.  They even packed up the leftovers and left them in our fridge (we had a family style service).  And I cannot rave enough about the food quality - one of the most important things for us.   Almost a year later we still get friends raving about the food. Birchtree catered my wedding last weekend and it was a huge success. My guests loved the food and cocktails, and everything went really smoothly, especially considering the complicated space I rented for the wedding itself. They provided layout maps, helpful suggestions, lots of options for different needs; depending on weather and guest size, timing, etc. Since I had both the ceremony and reception onsite, they had to plan on setting up dinner tables within a short time frame after the cocktail hour and ceremony to accommodate for the reception, and it was done so seamlessly. Everything looked beautiful and people were getting up for seconds (I didn't have time to do this since the bride is usually running around!). They even accommodated my special needs family member which was very nice.
My contact leading up to the event was Annie, and she was so responsive and competent that I was very reassured. I didn't have a wedding planner and I was basically planning everything on my own, so I felt so lucky about having Birchtree to basically guide me so that I could envision the big day and how it would flow.
