We were introduced to The Big Black Hen by our son Adam Bellinger as we needed an estate agent to sell our house. What a piece of luck! We immediately took to Nigel as he is so unlike any estate agent we have ever come across. No smarmy smile and huge shiny tie, thank goodness.

He came to look at our house and gave us lots of good advice on making it more attractive to potential buyers. He told it like it is, no games. Whenever he came to the house he was always enthusiastic, charming and very upbeat. Even when we had a buyer pull out he was philosophical about the whole thing and very encouraging. "Onwards and upwards" is his battle cry.

Bobbie in the office has been fantastic. She definitely has her finger on the pulse and goes above and beyond the call of duty.

What a fantastic team they are! We can't praise them enough.

I recently decided to sell my house, after going through all of the usual avenues of high street estate agents and feeling let down, and getting no real personal service. I decided to try a different option, a friend recommended Big Black Hen estate agency. Immediately after meeting Nigel (The Owner) I felt completely comfortable and able to trust him in selling my home. He explained how he worked on low fixed fees and how his contracts were simple, easy to read with no small print, unlike a lot of other estate agency brands.
After a couple of weeks of marketing and an open house day Big Black Hen sold my house and for more than the initial asking price too.
I would recommend Nigel and Big Black Hen to anybody looking to buy or sell a house.

Nigel has sold 23 properties for us in Hertfordshire over the last couple of years. Big Black Hen is completely proactive and keeps us in the loop on the sales process. He is realistic on price so you don't end up in the doom loop, loved by many agents who will overprice to get your business. Then leave you to drop the price once they have you on the hook, not a good idea when presenting to the market. Unlike any other estate agent we have used, he keeps a close track of sales and the legal process ensuring he communicates with everyone. Completely different compared to our experience with a conversion of 12 flats and 6 houses on the South Coast, sadly outside of Big Black Hens area, where the catalogue of ineptitude led to numerous sales dropping out and just not enough attention paid to managing the complexities of conveyancing. Truly FANTASTIC - the level of service, professionalism, communication, tenacity, honesty and dedication which both Nigel and Bobbie displayed throughout the whole process was and is exemplary. We purchased our new home from Big Black Hen and therefore they were representing our vendors, however it very quickly became apparent that someone needed to take ownership of the whole chain, no easy task! This was largely down to solicitors, other agencies and other parties not pulling their weight.
