This is one of my new favorites. Looked for a restaurant close to Symphony Hall and was reluctant based on a few prior reviews. However, my experience was exceptional. The lobster and smoked clam risotto was outstanding (don't expect tons of lobster or creamy texture, but expect amazing and complex flavors and textures). Server recommended and let me sample a couple of wines, both of which paired very nicely. The bread is phenomenal. The caprese salad was not traditional and very uniquely prepared, but it was nothing less than extraordinary. Service was prompt, and the server was attentive, very kind, and always available. We had an early dinner here after a Sunday matinee at SD City Ballet. We usually come here on these occasions. At that time, the restaurant is not noisy (I don’t know how it gets later in the evening or on other nights). The food was great, but not the best I've ever had.The service was friendly, but didn't blow me away (the server didn't have much to offer when I asked for recommendations)The atmosphere was cool and clean, but not unique. The locally sourced ingredients is great, but it could have been presented more. I could have gone through the whole experience without even noticing this great selling point. The server could have done more to explain and describe the source of the ingredients.The value was fine. As with many "nicer" places you get pretty small portions, but to be fair, the pricing isn't exorbitant, so it's forgivable.Overall, yeah, I would tell someone to check it out if they were interested, but would not necessarily go out of my way to say "you gotta go!" We had a delicious dinner at BIGA. Our server was very knowledgeable about each of the dishes - the menu was changing but our server was well versed on the way some of the dishes may be different. Delicious, authentic Italian food. The pasta is so fresh, the pizzas are heavenly and the burrata - wow! I had the potato-crusted seabass which was also very good. It was my daughter's 20th birthday and they brought her a bananas flambe. It was very dramatic when they set it ablaze and our wonderful server sang "Happy Birthday!" Such a great dining experience! Incredibly fresh...the bolognese sauce was delicious and the dessert well worth saving room! The portions are just the right amount so don’t be afraid to order a pizza to share and a pasta dish...will definitely return.
