Let me share my story about our experiences of being a Bidwell customer.

The story does start positively. I got to know John through local networking events and he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. A few months passed and I mentioned to him I was after a change in accountants, resulting in deciding to enter a business partnership with Bidwell.

It was September last year that I engaged Bidwell to look after our company accounts and all seemed well for the first few months. We had regular meetings and everything appeared to be on track.

We realised in April 2020 that our VAT return and account records were not being completed and hadn't been for some time. When we wrote to John and his staff, the replies were slow or nonexistent. We tried to set up several meetings or virtual chats but again, no luck. May approached and we heard from a member of the team explaining a vast amount of purchase receipts were missing from our quickbooks account, which was not the case as all of our financial information is updated on our system alongside our bank accounts being intergrated.

Two weeks before our end of year accounts were due, John decided it was a good idea to disengage us. An email was sent on a Saturday at 1AM! We were left in a terrible situation and pleaded with Bidwell for help. Again, conveniently it was difficult to get hold of anyone.

As they didn't answer our attempted calls to resolve matters, our Office Manager attended their office, trying to simply arrange a refund as petty arguing was not of interest to us, just wanting a refund and to wipe our hands of Bidwell. I attended later that day to follow up and was told I "needed my head checked" and laughed at. The suggestion was for me to engage a solicitor rather than arrange our refund amicably.

Bidwell, over these seven months, took £3713 from us.

What we got for £3713 was incomplete accounts and a lack of accountability. At the point we realised this had happened, we weren't even left with enough time to take action before receiving fines, and are are still owed over £1000.

I hope anyone reading this will take this review as a warning as I wouldn't want the same to happen to any other small businesses locally.

I was referred to Bidwell by one of my close friends as I am self employed and I wasn't very clued up on how to do my tax returns properly. after meeting with Bidwell (free consultation) they sat me down and discussed my needs. they were very friendly and made me feel comfortable. I can happily say I am still using Bidwell to this day and have never had any issues or complaints! More...
