Where to start? I had known Ray Rivers since I was a young man, but as often happens people go their own ways and you don't see each other for many years. For whatever reason, the universe brought us back together just in the nick of time. We came together to discuss old times and to learn about what was new in each other's lives. Ray told us about his growing practice and we were very excited for him and what he was doing, but my wife and I never thought that we would ever need his services. That did not turn out to be true. A year and a half ago my wife and I found ourselves in the midst of a severe marital crisis. We had decided that the relationship was not worth continuing and we both agreed the divorce was the only way forward. Soon after this decision, and unbeknownst to me, my wife reached out to Ray and had a long discussion with him. Later that same day she called me and told me and if I wanted to save our relationship I should call Ray as well. I told my wife that I had just spoken to Ray, and I told her that I did want to save it. I called Ray back and he set up a time for us later that evening. Upon walking in the door, Ray promised us that we were going to fix this problem right here and right now. I was very resistant to the wisdom he was sharing with us that evening. He spoke some very difficult truths. Difficult for an old friend to say to another, and difficult to hear on my part. Over the next 12 hours or so, I experienced one of those come-to-jesus moments. Through his wisdom, I began to let go of the self-righteous positions that were causing me so much pain, and causing so much turmoil in my relationship. That next day I decided to surrender all that negativity to God and let it all go. I decided that my relationship was worth it. I decided that it was to my benefit to humble myself before my wife, to the point of getting on my knees and kissing her feet. That was a very powerful moment, and it not only changed our relationship, it changed my entire life. I soon figured out that the same problems I was having in my relationship with my wife were being repeated throughout my life, with friends, family, and at work. This wisdom he shared started me on a path that has brought about so much healing throughout my entire life. I am so grateful for his wisdom and his friendship. Ray Rivers has brought me peace in my Marriage that I never thought possible.
