Our rescue dog Mason, who must have had an oppressive life before us, had a host of issues to overcome. Chris made remarkable differences in not only behavior but also trust in just a couple of weeks. Its obvious that Chris cares about the animals he trains. He is also a good trainer of owners too. He taught us a lot about training processes and how to follow up with Mason’s training when he returned. When Chris comes for follow-up visits, Mason runs to him enthusiastically. Well done Chris ! We highly recommend Best By Farr Dog Training More...

My wife and I adopted a ~8-month-old Doberman named Simon who was previously a stray. To make things a little bit more complicated for him and us, Simon only has one eye. We did our best to integrate him with our other dogs and train him to the best of our abilities. However, that was only getting us so far. Simon is not only a super hyper puppy, he is also very fearful of the world around him.We sought out training through Best By Farr and we could not be happier with the results. At first, we were hesitant to let our Simon go for a few weeks, but the payoff has been amazing. Before training, Simon would pull like nothing else on a leash, was pretty mouthy, would not listen very well or look at us, and would react extremely fearful in front of other dogs and people (crying, jumping, running, or shying away from distractions). We could hardly bring him anywhere without him being very freaked out and constantly trying to leave. With Chris' help, Simon now knows a wide array of obedience commands and can handle a variety of distractions. He can hold obedience commands at a distance and will not let out of the commands unless verbally released from my wife or I. He is leash-broken and is a dream to walk now. He's the best dog to walk even compared to our other adult dogs. He can handle being in public better than I could have imagined. The transformation of Simon has been so amazing to see. Now, my wife and I are attending some follow-up sessions with Chris to make sure we are in control and know how to interact with Simon. These sessions have been enormously helpful. We collect our questions for Chris before our sessions and Chris has been thorough in answering all of them.I can't recommend Chris enough!! He is such a kind and composed person. Working with him has been amazing. We had a big unruly scaredy-cat dog on our hands. Chris helped mold him up to become a loving, happy, and confident member of our family. Thank you Chris!!!!!!!! Chris’s work undoubtedly speaks for itself. Go check out the videos that he posts on his Facebook--he does this for all of this client dogs. What you can’t see in the videos, though, is how amazing Chris is at training the humans who bring their dogs to him not only to integrate the training that he puts into his client dogs, but also to be good leaders in the home and outside of it.Simon came to us emaciated from the Humane Society as an 8 month old, half-blind Doberman, who was picked up as a stray intact. He had just been neutered, was covered in mange, and was very scared of the world. Slowly over three months with us, he regained weight, the mange dissipated, his coat began to shine, and he became the bouncy, loving dog that we knew he was—but only with us. He was still terrified of EVERYTHING. When we first turned on our ceiling fans, he ran to the corner of our yard, leaned against our wall, and trembled from head to toe. Taking him out in public was a huge effort for all of us. We worked hard on our own to teach him how to sit, how to be in a house, how to not steal our shoes—but every time we tried to introduce him to the world or a public place, he was just downright scared. Luckily for us, Simon is not an aggressive dog. But he was miserable, and even though we have had our other dogs for almost 9 years, we didn’t know what we were doing.Simon is a special case because he missed the first 8 whole months of normal socialization, learning, and development. He was rude, uncoordinated, socially stupid, and scared. We know we needed professional help if we wanted a shot at helping him gain confidence and catch up on learning about the world.Poor Chris. Sending our dog to live with someone else for several weeks was not only a foreign concept to us, but it was scary. Like who is this guy? And where is our dog? And does he have his favorite toy? But when you meet Chris, you’ll understand that you are making the best decision for your dog and for your family. He is calm, knowledgeable, patient, kind, fair, and non-judgmental. He is a true, stable leader, and Simon really needed that—and frankly, so did we.Chris went to incredible lengths to teach Simon about the world. Simon went on boat rides, to the lake, to OHSO, Home Depot, a rodeo ground with livestock and 80 people, to parks, and more. Simon learned impressive obedience, but most impressive to us was how different this dog was when we picked him up and take him out. He is much calmer, more happy. He wags his little nub so much more. He is not scared of the world anymore. I am eternally grateful to Chris for this. But what I didn’t realize was how much work Chris puts into his clients even after your dog comes home. He has met with us once or twice a week for weeks ever since we picked Simon up to make sure that he is transitioning well and that he can help us learn to address things as they come up. He answers all our questions and never makes us feel stupid. As weird as it sounds, Chris is like a therapist to us as much as he is to Simon. He’s just a calm, smart, nice guy that you can trust. Our lives with Simon, and with the rest of our resident dog pack, is so much happier. I couldn’t possibly thank Chris enough for what he does, and I would 10/10 recommend him to anyone. Even if you are just going out of town and would like to have your dog come back happier and more balanced. And especially if you have a dog with special needs like we do. And I think one of my favorite things is every time Chris comes over to check on us, Simon’s little nub goes crazy with excitement to see his old friend. More...

We recently put our trust in Chris to train our Springer Spaniel Graci to become a better behaved young pup. She had missed out on her early puppy training and came to us as a rescue at one year old. Loveable and sweet, but lacking good social skills. He promised us a different dog and he made good on his promise. We were concerned that the training might break her spirit, but it hasn't. Now she understands the commands he taught her, and we are continuing that training. Highly recommend Chris Farr's company !!! More...

This review is long overdue, but I really wanted to take some time to convey just how happy my girlfriend and I are with Best by Farr Dog Training. I also wanted to write a clear and articulate review for those that might be reading this to determine if BBFDogs/Chris Farr is right for you.First and foremost let me start by saying Chris Farr is is not only a great dog trainer but an amazing handler mentor/teacher as well. My girlfriend and I wanted to be involved with the training of our Pitbull mix Brindlelynn, nanely because this was the first time either of us had owned this breed. So upon a successful interview, and initial assessment, we embarked on a 10-week journey with Chris. His teaching methods are delivered through constructive criticism, positive, and supportive reinforcement. He is never condescending, rude, or unprofessional. This is very important because in private lessons it was my girlfriend and I (the handlers) truly being trained, not Brindlelynn. The work Chris did with Brindlelynn was nothing short of something you would see on TV. Brindlelynn is a Pitbull mix that we rescued from a local agency here in the Valley. We wanted a Bully breed because of the negative stigma surrounding these dogs and we wanted to give a rescue a good home and second chance. Brindlelynn was 10 months at the time we got her, and was still a young dog / puppy when we started to work with Chris. Brindleynn lived a very sheltered life in a kennel for 8-10 hrs a day with her original owner. Luckily she was housebroken, had a couple basic commands, but we soon found out that they were taught wrong. Brindlelynn's biggest challenge, and our goal was trying to restore the socialization with people, children, and other dogs that she had missed out on early in her life. Before training with Chris, Brindlelynn couldn't even see another dog in the distance without completely losing her mind. This was very embarrassing and gave my girlfriend a lot of anxiety because Brindlelynn has a very imposing bark and she has that classic, intimidating, and athletic Pitbull build. It was so bad that my girlfriend did not want to, nor could she physically walk Brindlelynn. After our initial assessment, we got right into the thick of training. After our first session, Chris made it his personal Journey to help us correct Brindlelynn's socialization deficiencies. Chris's methods and expectations were crystal clear. If we ever had questions or were confused he would explain in multiple ways until we understood. His use of analogies and relating dog training or behavior to something that you understand or do in life (dancing, working out, yoga, Jiujitsu) is second to none. We were also held accountable and given homework in between private sessions.By week 8 we were "heeling, foing change of pace heeling, auto sitting, sit-down-stay, and recalling" Brindlelynn at a local dog park...WITH DOGS AROUND!!! Week 10 we took Brindlelynn to Thunderbird Mountain for a hike and did a 100 yard recall past other hikers. Just last week we took Brindlelynn to Einstein's for breakfast on the patio, where she stayed in the "down" position while she ate a doggie bagel, a puppuccino, and water. We are so happy and impressed with Chris's methods, we have discussed continuing with Advanced Training for Brindlelynn.Lastly, Best by Farr as a whole is an exceptional business. It's customer service, communication, and ease of payment is just as top notch as the training provided. I honestly could continue but if I haven't convinced you by now, nothing more I can say will do so. So don't waste any more time, contact Best by Farr, schedule your initial consultation, and start creating that amazing bond between you and your precious furry family member!I hope this helped,Travis S. We had problems with aggression and general disobedience with our dog Coco. We could not be more please with how well behaved, happy and relaxed she now is. Coco used to take me for a walk, now I can walk her and really do not even need the leash be it at the park or in a store. Our kids can now control our dog with commands as well as walk our dog, without any worries at all! It was not just our dog that was the problem, it was our family not knowing how to communicate with Coco. Chris taught us, and is still doing follow up sessions with us to insure that she can keep on track. He really cares!!Chris is an excellent communicator as well. I highly recommend Best By Farr Dog Training to anyone who really loves their dog like our family does. More...

I could not be any happier with the training our dog Biscuit received. In two weeks time he learned a whole list of commands, and can complete these commands in busy, distracting environments like Petsmart. I’m in awe. It has changed the dynamic in our household tremendously! Last night we were eating dinner and he was milling around and I told him to go to his “place” and he did. And he stayed there until dinner was over and I released him! Unbelievable. It was worth every penny! Thank you Chris. I will tell everyone that asks me about my rockstar dog that it’s all from your amazing training. More...

We needed help with our 2 dogs, a Great Dane who is 4 and a Mastiff mix who is 2. Neither could walk on a leash properly, both greeted guests at the door by rushing them at the knees and they stalked the dinner table every night. We learned how to solve all these issues and Christ helped us understand the best way to reward and correct the dogs. Chris is remarkable- patient, kind and so knowledgeable with dog behavior. This was the best decision we have ever made in regards to the well being of our dogs. I've completed 2 other PetStore trainings with other dogs and they don't even come close to the level of success we experienced with Chris. We will miss our weekly meetings but are confident in what we learned. More...

You guys, Chris is AMAZING. He knows what he is doing, he’s a great teacher of both humans and dogs alike. We left our dog Biscuit with him for two weeks for a board and train. He can now sit, heel, down, come, place, as well as do these things with tons of distractions. I took him to petsmart today! If I had done that before it would have been a disaster! Best by Farr truly speaks for itself! My husband and I sought out Chris after we completed “puppy training” for our 2 eight month old, yellow labs through a large pet store. We quickly realized that we needed focused training on concerns specific to our dogs and Chris gave us that. Our first meeting with Chris was an assessment of where our dogs were at, what were our concerns, and what could be accomplished. Over the following 10 weeks, we would typically review the previous week’s skill, and then learn a new skill. Around 5-6 weeks, we started venturing out into public, which was nerve wracking for me based on the dogs’ previous behavior on a leash in public. Chris showed us how to fix the behavior and now we can go out without concern (and this is with now 10 month old lab puppies).Chris recognized our great weeks, our rough weeks, and all of the times in between, and he was right there supporting all of it. We could not have found anyone better to help us train our pups and improve our relationship with them! More...
