I recently worked with Evelyn Benatar, who is based in Great Neck, NY. She not only came up with great design concepts for my downtown penthouse--she choose unique and stunning fixtures, fantastic paint colors and combined patterns and textures in a non cliche way. She also came up with great ideas to solve challenging space issues and met hard deadlines. Her attention to both technical and aesthetic detail is matched only by her delightful personality. We have admired Evelyn’s work for some time based on work she has done for one of our closest friends. When the time came for us to start a truly unique project, we knew she was the only person that could make our vision a reality. We wanted throw out “old school” tradition and transform our formal living room into a usable bar and lounge. With full creative liberty at her disposal, Evelyn produced the most luxurious and sophisticated bar and lounge that could rival the best Manhattan hot spots. Her use of natural materials (a zinc bar counter top and a concrete cocktail table) and rich fabrics (mohair lounge chairs and wool window treatments) were a beautiful contrast coupled with a mix of contemporary fixtures (Remains Lighting Sorenson Pendants) and traditional appointments (tufted chairs with brass nail heads). To say that the room has exceeded our expectations is an understatement.

We also tasked Evelyn with updating our Entryway. What she created was dramatic entrance that makes a bold statement with wood paneling two stories up, elegant moldings and gorgeous colors, not to mention the amazing runner and herringbone wood floors. Again, just well beyond what we anticipated.

On a personal note, Evelyn is a pleasure to work with and just about as nice as they come. We look forward to many future projects and would reccomend her in a heartbeat! More...

I hesitated about renovating my Bedroom because its difficult for me to get around. Evelyn made the whole process easy and fun! We found Evelyn through NYDC and it was the best thing we ever did. She has been incredible to work with and has transformed our 2 bd apt into a wonderful luxurious home. She has impeccable taste/style and her knowledge of the industry is tremendous. My husband and I have different tastes (he is more traditional , I am more contemporary) but she was able to come up with solutions that were appealing to both of us and it worked ! We get so many compliments on our home all the time. Throughout the whole process she was professional , and trustworthy. She listened to what we wanted and executed accordingly while working within our budget. More importantly , she is such a sweet and wonderful person to be around, she even bought us a gift when we had our baby.
