Having tried a number of different PT's over the years I had almost given up on finding someone who had the knowledge and personality to enable me to achieve my goals. I'm glad I didn't give up. I am a businessman and live in Cornwall but frequently work in Manchester. As I travel a lot, it is hard to fit training in with my schedule. I was lucky enough to find a solution with Ben Malton Personal Training. Whenever I go to Manchester, Ben quickly assesses what has changed since the last time we met, which might have been a month or more before. He identifies what I have been doing at the gym at home and compares that to his own meticulous records. His ability to make a fast assessment means that we can seamlessly pick up where we left off. In addition, I have problems with a liver and skeletal condition and Ben has an encyclopaedic knowledge of complementary supplements or approaches that I have also found invaluable. I would say Ben is totally reliable and consistent and I recommend his services highly. More...

An outstanding personal trainer. I trained with Ben for 3 years and he helped me achieve my dream of getting into the British army. I struggled with gaining weight and he helped me 'bulk up' and improve my BMI for selection. My fitness and confidence grew from strength to strength. With that confidence and good technique gained from Ben I can train with the best of them.Unfortunately I got injured in army training so came back to Ben to rehabilitate. He is always on hand to provide help and advice on fitness, nutrition and the military. I can't recommend him enough so work hard, listen and you'll reap the rewards. I have been seeing Ben for a while now,and the improvements I have made year on year are incredible. When I first started training I had 0 confidence and no self believe in myself. My nutrition was not great, and didn't have a clue about training.Slowly over time I have seen great improvements, not just in my physical health but I am more confident in my personal and profesional life. Ben is most definitely an experienced PT. He has literally set me up for life with the workouts/ routine / advice he has provided over the last few months. I never have really been a gym go-er and literally started from scratch. He has taught me the confidence to believe in myself and 3 months later i am much more muscular and my strength has increased significantly. Most importantly, my health and fitness is at a great level. I now go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and train regularly following on all the advice Ben has provided. I came to Ben towards the end of last year to help achieve my ambition of getting into the Army and now in 3 weeks time I'm going to basic training! Having struggled with a low BMI for years, Ben has helped me gain the weight needed and improve my fitness immensely. I started training with Ben last year to lose some baby weight and I've managed to lose that, and some more since. I achieved my goals before xmas and now continue to train, as Ben has helped be set new goals to work towards.Now I'm slimmer than I was when I was a teenager, feel fit and energetic, and I've never been so strong before. And I'm not eating all the junk foods I used to eat - I can't believe how much food and drink I used to eat that I thought was good was actually holding me back and stopping me from losing weight!I'm now working towards my holiday in a few weeks and getting as toned as I can. Q&A

This depends on a number of factors, such as my clients fitness level, personal preferences and equipment available (for example, training in a fully equipped gym, or outside with limited equipment). I'll customise all sessions based on my client. For example many of my clients choose to incorporate 10-15 minutes of Boxercise at the end of their session. Typical sessions may include a combination of weight training, functional training, interval training and more.

Consistency when following the correct tailored fitness programme, and just as important, consistency in following a healthy balanced and calorie controlled nutrition plan, with the correct balance of macro-nutrients (fats, carbs & proteins) based on the individual's goals and body type.

It's rewarding to see those who are dedicated totally transform their body and mind, with many people often starting out unhappy with their body, with low confidence and self-esteem, to going on to become really happy and confident with themselves, and around other people.

A number of different reasons really. Being your own boss can be challenging, but very rewarding, and to know that I continue to be a very successful Personal Trainer even 11 years after starting my PT business, choosing my own working hours, and being in full control of my own business rather than answering to someone higher than myself is extremely rewarding and satisfying.

Many 'Personal Trainers' these days have limited experience and qualifications, and have often only completed a 4-6 week 'quick course' which qualifies them on paper as a Personal Trainer. Many also only work 'part time' rather than been 110% dedicated to supporting their clients and getting guaranteed results. With over 10 years experience as a full time Personal Trainer, including advanced qualifications (Level 4) including a related degree, I train my clients from all aspects of life and fitness, which includes training and support with their fitness, nutrition, lifestyle, mental health, functional health and more, for a full holistic approach.
