Competitions are never easy, it is a nerve wrecking experience that can be exhausting and frustrating. However, this competition something was very different. It wasn't the typical judgmental atmosphere that tends to invade a competition. Andalee worked really hard to create an environment where dancers can really feel like the point of this competition is to grow as a dancer. Part of that is to put ourselves out there, receive critique and keep learning. The atmosphere was very positive and Andalee was very friendly and engaging with the dancers. Hot Raqs debunked the stereotype of a dance competition. I felt comfortable, inspired, and excited to go home and learn/try new things.I felt lucky to be there and meet professionals in a field that I have only heard about. I believe that this competition encouraged us dancers to keep growing no matter where we are. Also, awesome vendors and shopping opportunities...Thank you. More...

This was a great supportive festival at a great location. The workshops, vendors and dancers were all amazing. Live music and a drum competition was a nice addition. They had food trucks, and it was close to shopping and other food options. It was great to see a apprentice category for younger dancers and first timers to have a chance to learn and grow in their dance. The volunteers and event production were all great More...
