We stayed here for 1 night in August 2019. It was a surprise for my husband and from the time we drive through the castle gates, nothing disappointed us. We had a large and beautiful room overlooking the front of the property, huge 4 poster bed and luxurious surroundings. We did the castle tour which was fascinating and very different from most castle tours as the owner's collections of fossils, medieval armour and shipwreck items was amazing. The grounds are beautiful, and the forest is very peaceful to walk in. We had the early bird fixed price dinner which was an absolutely delicious 3 course meal in a great setting. Breakfast was great too. We would highly recommend! More...

Just stayed three nights here for a family wedding and it was honestly the most interesting hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were so lovely and calm for the whole weekend of the wedding, from the ceremony in the renovated barn to the non stop music and dancing in the basement, no fuss . The food was great with vegetarian variations (not sure about vegan though) and the Jack Fenn café right next door! The rooms were like stepping into a time capsule with four poster beds in most rooms. The most beautiful forest surrounds the castle that you can walk around with the dogs ||The castle was more like a big cozy house and you could really make yourself feel at home there, wandering around the lounges and bars down to the basement! Really such an interesting place full of a mix of history from fossils to armour to Grace O’Malley’s bed! Completely random but so enjoyable, would highly recommend going with the whole family for a fun weekend ✨ More...

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW. I cant shout from the rooftops enough how amazing Belleek Castle, its interior, rooms, staff, adjoining forest and the beautiful castle dog are stellar. We were married there in October and they took on the challenge of a Vegan catered wedding and excelled. The food was fantastic, even the non vegans were bowled over by it. The staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating. The actually process of the wedding was the most stress free aspect as Eva, Mia and the team just took the reigns and ran with it. It was a magical, stress free day and we are counting the days until we go back in February for a stay. More...

This is my second time back. I first came here 3 years ago for my colleague’s wedding. At the time I was impressed by the sense of history and the many collection in this period property, and the lovely walk around the castle. Only found out recently that it is also a museum with guided tour and more collections in the underground space so went back for the tour. It became the highlight of our trip. The guide is not only knowledgable of the collection and the history behind the castle but is very passionate and has a lot of love for the collection, the castle, and the people behind it. The tour is very interactive and you get the chance to touch the medieval sword and swing it a bit (really heavy). The collection is amazing and has something for everyone in the group. We went to the cafe for some lovely food after the tour, then went for a walk in the woods. More...

We had the perfect evening out here; celebrating my good friend's upcoming wedding celebrations we had booked to have dinner here. It has an amazing atmosphere, the grounds are beautiful and the building inside is stunning. The meal we had was amazing; highly recommend their speciality 'the Flaming Bullock', which is beef fillet served on a sword and set alight with a beautiful sauce. But, for me, the dessert was one of the best I have ever had. Plums with Burnt Meringue doesn't sound that exciting - but it was stunningly good and one of the best desserts I have ever had. If we are back in this area of Ireland we will definitely visit again!!! More...

Belleek has recently been awarded 4 Star status but Id put it up there with 5 Stars Ive stayed in for sure. The driveway brings you through a long winding trail through Belleek forest and the grandeur of the hotel hits you in the face immediately. My bags were carried to my olden style bedroom with huge four poster bed,a very elegant room. There are just 10 bedrooms in the castle, each individually decorated so it makes for a special and intimate setting. The bar is one of the most beautiful and unusual Ive ever seen. It is totally made from upcycled wood from 3 shipwrecks. The castle is steeped in history and this morning after a delicious breakfast(in particular the white pudding),I participated in a tour of the castle which was very interesting, highly recommend. They hold about 50 weddings a year here and I can definitely see why,the banquet hall is just outstandingly beautiful. I paid only €135 for the night!! 5 stars for me⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More...

We stayed here for one night while we were doing a bit of a driving tour. I thought the grounds were beautiful and enjoyed having a walk around the woods. The castle itself is lovely, the room we had (5) had amazing decor and loved the four poster bed. We had a look into one of the “deluxe” rooms, but they had more modern decor which I didn’t like at all. The older style is far nicer. We went for the early dinner as we were with our baby, we thought the food was excellent, and on the early menu very reasonably priced. Wasn’t keen on the meringues - they said they were homemade, but they didn’t taste it to me. The breakfast was excellent. All the staff were also very helpful.||The only gripe really was the shower. It was terrible, truly. It was no more than a trickle. I called in the morning and the maintenance guy was not there. Two hours later they called back and said he was there. By which time I had given up and had a bath (which I would never normally do). More...

As with most hotels on our driving trip, we booked the same day, so the only choice was a deluxe room. However this was not disappointing - room 5 is a large room, well decorated and a modern bathroom. Two small gripes, there are chairs and a table to sit and admire the view, or watch TV, but once its dark its either bed side lights or main lights; also the bathroom is let down by badly marked cheap lino - if they can't have tiles, at least use amtico or similar to maintain the standard. Also, I didn't really need it, but there was no hairdryer in the room. || ||The grounds are lovely, although most is owned by the park I believe, nice to wander along the river bank and among the different tree walks.||||We were told on arrival we didn't need to book for dinner as it was quiet, so we went down around 7.10 (timings are important). There was no one around in the hallway so we went to have a look at the very interesting bar and ordered drinks, telling the barman we wanted to eat. We then sat.....and sat.....until everyone else had their orders taken and been taken to the restaurant. My husband then (just before 8pm) went to find someone and eventually we were seated - from her comments as she seated us the restaurant manager seemed to think we were walk ins who'd just sat there expecting a table - rather than guests in a small hotel where our drinks had been charged to our room! The food was excellent, unfortunately marred by being extremely hungry by the time we were served something - 8.15pm. ||||Breakfast was interesting - I could see people around being over faced by large omelettes so we both ordered poached eggs and bacon, plus small extras each. This was the worst breakfast in our entire trip- the food was warm rather than hot, and very chewy bacon/ rubbery eggs. We eventually decided it must have been cooked and reheated, although I've no wish to try cooking my own breakfast that way to test the theory. ||||On checking out, the receptionist asked how our stay was - I was assuming they would already have had a note of the previous evening, but no record. I also mentioned the breakfast and was assured it was all freshly cooked. ||||We eventually got home to find a message on our home phone - message left the day we left the hotel - quite how we'd get back to Surrey from County Mayo in a rickety classic car so quickly I've no idea. I did email in response when we did get home, but after a week of no answer I'm now posting this.||||Also surprising - it would be good if guests were offered a free tour of the castle. We were told there was a tour at 4.30pm that we could pay for.....I did try to look behind an open door in the evening and it was made clear it was no access for guests. Just a thought.||||Its been difficult to write, so virtually the last from this trip, the hotel, room and dinner would warrant a 5, but the service and breakfast only 3. More...

More...
