I took my 4 year old niece for a mermaid play treasure package and it exceeded my expectations. The mermaid was so great with my niece and truly made her feel special. Took my two girls, 7 & 5, when we were visiting the beach.  They had so much fun!  Shelly took really good care of them and both girls left with great mermaid hair and makeup.  They had enough time to do a mini photo shoot and they definitely didn't want to stop.  The whole shop is so photogenic, it's a little underwater wonderland for mermaids of all ages. My daughter and her best friend had a wonderful time with the Mermaids today. Their birthdays are only a couple of weeks apart so we decided to celebrate their turning 5 at the same time, with Once Upon an Island. We chose the Treasure Package ($125 per child, plus 18% tip for a total time of one hour). It seems the company has listened to prior reviewers. Their online booking system worked well, they also kept in touch with clients with confirmations toward the event date. Every time I sent them an email, they always respond in a timely manner. Also, the girls had TWO mermaids do the makeup/hair time, which meant both girls get their makeup and hair together. It's nice because they get to share the experience and interact with the two mermaids, and it made sure that both girls get the same amount of attention. It was kind of a gloomy day for the beach part but they leave it up to the parents to decide if it's too cold for the beach (and the girls can stay inside to play). We decided to spend time at the beach and we were there for about 30 minutes. Other beach goers were having so much fun seeing real life mermaids at the beach! It made such a special experience for the kids.My one note is to perhaps they can place a sign by the front desk reminding people that tip is automatically already included in the final price (*it shows up as Custom item). In the rush of trying to pay, with two kids asking to buy additional merchandise (super cute but also very enticing), I accidentally added tip again. I took my daughter and her cousin to Once Upon An Island to celebrate her turning 5. We did the Petite Package (which was perfect for a small group of 2) and we had such a great time! We were greeted right on time by the Mermaid who hosted us- she was in character the entire time and was sooo sweet and great with the girls! To see their faces light up were priceless! They got to choose their mermaid outfit and then had a makeover where they got nails painted, makeup and hair done. Afterwards they got to pick something from the treasure chest and do a little dance party with the mermaid. The girls had a blast and I would highly recommend this experience!!! This is such a cute place for a kid and adult to visit! We took a trip from AZ to surprise my daughter (and little sister) for her 7th birthday. She's really into Mermaids right now so it was the perfect spot. The décor is adorable at this place and the staff is very friendly and sweet. She immediately got into character, which makes even us adults feel like kids again. We will definitely come back to this place and are so glad that we were able to do it. I really appreciated our host taking the time to make sure our kids had a great time and even though we were a little late coming in (a lot of construction happening at the moment), she still ensured that all festivities planned were executed. This is a late review, but one that NEEDED to be made! A few weeks ago I took my 4 year old daughter here as a surprise and we loved our experience! Right when we got there a family was walking out as we were walking in so we were immediately greeted by Mermaid Rose! She made my daughter feel comfortable right away. She gets shy sometimes so I'm not always able to predict how things are going to go. Mermaid Rose talked with her, asked her questions, laughed with her and was really attentive to her- it was just so sweet.Mermaid Rose did her hair and she did an amazing job. Seriously my poor child doesn't have much hair so I'm so impressed about how beautiful it turned out! She also did her make up and nails which was adorable! She would ask my daughter what her favorite color was and totally accommodated what she asked for since she said her favorite color was actually 3 different colors! Haha. She was really patient with her and I really loved that! Also the makeup wasn't too much at all and totally age appropriate which I also really loved.After her magical transformation, she took my daughter to do a craft and let me tell you, that was so cute! They made a necklace with colored sand in it and she made wishes with each color she chose! The whole experience was just so precious and magical. The shop is SO CUTE! My daughter and I are in lovveeee with this place!! I took her as a surprise since I have been under the weather and my poor kid has been so so bored. We walked in and her face instantly lit up with delight! Mermaid Tulip was finishing up with another family as we were a bit early. She greeted us promptly, though and my daughter was already in awe of her. The whole experience was so magical and the space they had was beautifully decorated! The process is quick but so was Mermaid Tulip! Nails - 2 minutes, makeup - maybe 5 minutes total and hair took maybe 7 minutes (please teach me how the heck you whipped up that creation, it takes me 4 minutes to even do a ponytail on my kid and you have her a crown!!!) Though quick, it's still well done. Mermaid Tulip sang with her, gave uplifting compliments and all conversations were positive and family oriented all while being very engaging with my 6yr old. The picture time is so cute and she was so helpful in getting the cutest pics of my little! Next was crafts which was also maybe 5 minutes but fun and easy- honestly the perfect time frame since the kids at this point just want to have fun and are sooo excited I can't imagine them keeping still for something longer. it all went pretty quick (read their recommendations on their website to get the most out of your experience ex- no nail polish because they won't take it off because of the fumes, have hair clean and easy to brush so styling can go as quick as possible- ya know, common sense stuff but some people seem to have missed that in some of these other reviews). We still had a little time so Mermaid Tulip invited my daughter for either story time or a singalong since they had been singing the entire time together. Surprisingly my little chose storytime that she did not sit still for lol. What I really appreciated from Mermaid Tulip was at the end, when I was paying my balance owed, my daughter started begging for their crystal plutty. Mermaid Tulip tried to gently distract my daughter from her begging after I said no twice. It was so nice to not feel pressured or like my child was being used to make more money off of me... but ya, I gave in and bought it lol. I highly recommend you take your littles to experience the magic here and wouldn't mind if they had a mommy and me experience because I could see that being a ton of fun and a great bonding experience. I am over the top about Once Upon an Island!! It is the cutest mermaid/princess place to take your child. We celebrated my child's third birthday and although she is on the younger spectrum they treated her just as special and important as the older girls! Mermaid Shelly was absolutely amazing! We just celebrated my daughter's 3rd Birthday with a lot of kids! The staff is attentive and friendly. They did a fantastic job of setting up and entertaining the kids. What Viviana M. Failed to mention about her experience was that while Ariel was saying bye to the little princesses in her last party group (I was one of the parents). . I see Ariel closing up shop and as she was closing the door, Viviana puts her hand to stop her from closing the door (this was past 1:10pm for Mermaid Academy. It ends at 1pm for cleaning). I saw Ariel let her in after she said "I know what I'm going to buy..please".  I can only imagine what happened afterwards. The store was already closed but Ariel's party ran late then a last minute customer comes up and not only lets her in and assists the customer but then gets this ungrateful post.  Why don't you tell the real story without leaving out parts that would've made you look like a fool. From start to finish our birthday party here was perfection! It was so easy to just show up and have these amazing party hosts handle everything! We came to Once Upon an Island for my daughter's 6th birthday party and she wanted a tea party with all her friends and Alice! Let's start with the venue- clearly Disney inspired with every angle a backdrop for a perfect photo! Castles, streamers and whimsy, it is every kids dream hangout. The performance and party hosting was incredible!! We had Mermaid Luna, Mermaid Calypso and Alice and the kids loved every second! Every detail was thought through so well and planned out. They played games, did story time perfectly timed with movie music and sound effects, and served pizza and tea into beautiful tea cups from a tea pot (which my daughter loved!). There was even a parent lounge for the moms to eat and hangout in while the kids played. This occasion will forever be remembered by our family and we couldn't have been more impressed with the venue and the quality of entertainment we received! We had our daughters 5th birthday party here yesterday. Words can’t express how happy I am with the entire party. The staff truly goes above and beyond from start to finish! The mermaids & belle where incredible with our little princesses they kept them entertained & feeling special the entire time!
