Hello, I’m Becky Walsh, a marketing consultant with 23 years business experience and a whole lot besides. I’ve run several successful businesses of my own, worked with everyone from plcs to start ups and know how to make your marketing really effective. For the past 14 years I’ve been working as an independent marketing consultant with a wide range of organisations including an award-winning London design agency, an international training consultancy, a family-owned telematics & fleet business, a Middle Eastern cancer foundation, a multi-award winning pub & butchery, several London property companies and a small African HIV sports development charity. And more.

I take marketing ideas and turn them into practical activities that win new business for my clients. To date, I have knowledge and experience of marketing in all of the retail, food, wine, international training, telematics, charity, marine, dental, property, construction, leisure, travel, antiques and sports industries.

I worked in the international marine industry before becoming a marketing consultant and to add diversity to my profile, have also owned and run my own profitable restaurant, developed a brand and marketed a gardening service in North London, have my wine exams, worked with a leading women in business network, completed a Bordeaux harvest, learnt to cook in NZ and have worked in six countries including three years in Saudi Arabia.

I studied business and languages at uni, majoring in marketing and also have a range of management, marketing and social media courses under my belt.

What this means is that I know what it’s like to run your own business, how to get the most out of marketing at any part of the budget spectrum, what to look out for along the way and how to raise your profile, build a brand and make you more money. I think differently for a marketing consultant, it's not about spending money, it's about being clever in what you spend and maximising the return on investment for that.

You can buy a few hours, a few days or regular ongoing consultancy from me, it’s completely up to you. I can work as a consultant on one off projects or as a resource to call on as you need me. I can also work with internal marketing teams to set them up with the marketing planning and tools they need to then take your business forward.

What do you love most about your job?

The variety of projects that I work on as no single day is the same as the next. Every business is different and yet many of the challenges they face are the same as those in other industries. Clients are often wasting money on marketing activities that aren't winning them work or don't know where to start and not waste their money. Showing them how to be strategic in the marketing decisions they make and clever about where they spend their money for return is immensely satisfying. Using skills and knowledge from one project that can benefit a new client is a lightbulb moment every time.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Having had three businesses of my own, I offer more than just pretty pictures and expensive advertising, I understand a P&L and balance sheet. Too many marketers know how to come up with great ideas but not how to prove them or make them contribute to the bottom line. I could see a gap for that type of marketing consultancy and so the marketing I do is always part of the overall business strategy and plan and the marketing plans I develop sit with them in partnership. I'm a doer not a theorist.

Versatility of my offering - not many marketing consultants have worked in as many different industries as I have. Not many of them understand the business as a whole and I do. A whole host of very happy clients, many of whom have worked with me for a long time. Plenty of glowing testimonials to give you confidence in my ability.
