I can not even rate Beaumont legal it's that bad!
No communication, can't teach the solicitor or the office to speak to someone, don't reply to my e-mail!
My staircasing process was delayed by the solicitor and the valuation of the flat expired ( as solicitor know the deadline from day 1)
I lost £500.00 and nobody even apologised!
Never used them again!
Worst firm I ever met!

very bad unprofessional experience, the worst think that happened with us ever, we had so much stress with this company and they didn't even care even manager was indifferent ignorant didn't manage anything at all his name is Matthew Dickinson, he and our conveyancer Luke Battensby were buddies and didn't care about our complains, no replies or answered equations. we had to change the conveyancer and loose a lot of time after 3 months of doing nothing with them , we had to start all over again, almost lost our house, and had to move from rented accommodation before buying our house, it was a nightmare. DO NOT EVER get this compony to work for you.

This company is a joke...!!! Stay well away from them and look elsewhere.. (This Review is for December 2016 as I did not get round to doing it)....

I spent a considerable time uploading everything on to their online portal..

As I was waiting after a week not hearing anything I was told that I had to pay online as well. It was not clear at all..

After doing that we were assigned a solicitor then a week later (again) not heard anything they said they had to check with their legal team regarding communication because I was DEAF due to me being unable to communicate over the phone...!! I mentioned we can communicate via email and they said that this was not an acceptable form of legal communication... !!!. After three weeks they said they were still looking into it...!!! At that point I asked for a full refund and looks elsewhere as I had to get moving otherwise I would lose out on the house that we wanted to buy..

Found another solicitor and they had NO issue or problem communicating via emails and it all went smoothly..

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

What ever happened to Beaumont Legal? They used to be a well respected and trusted firm offering personal and exemplary service, not any more!!! They completed conveyancing work for us in August 2015, arranging an indemnity policy regarding a planning issue. In January 2016 they wrote advising they got the cost of the policy wrong and demanding more money. An immediate response was sent advising had they quoted more at the time they we may not have proceeded. Nothing further was received from them until today! 15 months later and 24 months since completion demanding the increased amount or they are revoking the indemnity!! How can you be sure that they are acting with competence on your behalf for what will be for most people, the biggest and most important purchase in your life?
They are also currently acting for family members on conveyancing and are slow to respond to emails, failing to update files and not obtaining answers to planning queries in a timely manner.
All very disappointing!

Terrible service, incompetent and rude staff, next to useless app, no updates throughout the process of buying our house unless we pestered them and impossible to get hold of case handler. Thought the app and chat service would make the transaction easier for us but made no difference as we spent hours on the phone on hold or told we would receive calls or emails back to then wait days or weeks for any information. Complaints were to not taken seriously at all throughout. Lucky we had such patient sellers. Saw several terrible reviews mixed in with other good reviews so took the chance and it was definitely not worth the slightly cheaper price (which ended up no cheaper after several added charges that we were only told about half way through the process). Will advise anyone who is purchasing a property to look elsewhere for legal services.

Absolute nightmare! Our buyers, and buyers buyers are both using Beaumont. It is by far the worst house sale we have ever experienced. We should have exchanged contracts FOUR times now, and we are still waiting. My solicitor and estate agent have tried to resolve the matter and have even involved directors, but do not get answers. We have been told queries are all resolved and they are ready to exchange, then they delay by asking the same questions they already have asked and we have answered 3 times previously. They even asked for building regs for an extension that has never been built and delayed contract exchange because of it. The incompetence knows no bounds!
We are supposed to be emigrating in 4 weeks, my father in law is severely ill and because of these idiots we may not get to say goodbye nor will he meet his grandchildren, they should be ashamed. We are now putting our home back on the market, and our sale is now in jeopardy because of them due to not giving a reason for the fail to exchange four times.
Please spare yourselves the stress and upset and avoid this company.

Appalling experience. Straight forward job: deal with the sales of my property. No chain involved. The communication was worse that terrible. Taking almost a week to reply both by email or using the app. They kept on changing the person in charge. My state agent, my buyer's solicitors and I had to chase them to exchange contracts. The exchange letter took 2 weeks to be emailed to me. The day of the completion I was fearing the worse. luckily it went ok on the last day but I would not recommend this company at all.

I was supposed to be moving 3 weeks ago. These people are useless. Lost emails. Insisting letters even though recorded have not been received. Staff off I'll, and no one else can do the work. Staff rude. Completely the worst solicitor I have ever dealt with. Only went with them as my mortgage advisor recommended them. He must have got a nice back hander as they are useless.

The buyer of my property used Beaumont Legal. Beaumont Legal were completely lacking in any sense of urgency or customer service. Throughout the painful transaction they asked my solicitor to send multiple copies of documents that they claimed never to have received and then they said the lenders bank had lost their fax (?). The whole transaction took much longer then it needed to. My strong advice to vendors is that if you have a buyer who is using Beaumont Legal - find another buyer - or ask them to find another solicitor. I wrote a complaint to their customer services - I never got a reply - maybe they lost it. I award them zero stars.

We used Beaumont Legal as first-time buyers, our case handler was Amber Goodlad. Our case started off in a good pace, online portal was easy to use and upload documents. Although never knew until a payment went out that you have to pay for the portal!!!! Searches were in progress but became slow, weeks went by where nothing was happening as they were supposedly chasing the vendors solicitor, yet the estate agent would ring me to say that the vendors solicitor had not heard anything from them … which became annoying as BL said they had been in touch. Amber kept us up to date as much as she could, only negative I can say about BL is they are so hard to get hold of, and when you leave a message with reception to call you back …. nothing!

We put our offer in and completed within 12weeks so overall happy to be settling in to our first new home.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!!
Absolutely terrible experience. We are Buying a house with no chain. There are no underlying issues that should cause a delay. This should've taken around 4 weeks. It has now been 4 months and counting.
Beaumont & legal are the firm representing the sellers. We are the buyers
1) It is extremely difficult to get hold of your case worker
2) raising a query or responding to a query takes them on average of 3 weeks

As I write we are frantically trying to get hold of someone as our solicitor has been ready to complete for the last 2 weeks. For some unknown reason they seem to not have their paper work ready and just simply will not respond.
Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere

Please save yourself the heartache and go elsewhere. Me & my disabled husband are supposed to be moving today, according to Dean who informed us of the proposed date 2 weeks ago. Because my husband desperately needs to move to a bungalow we decided that moving was more important then the holiday that was due to start the next day & set about the final packing. What a load of B.S. Because we couldn't get a clear response from solicitor we eventually contacted the seller who knew nothing about this date and was waiting for still waiting for a survey !!! I know this was only a proposed date but I wrongly thought I could trust my solicitors & they wouldn't just have invented this date. If anybody is thinking of using them save yourself the heartache. The initial price quoted will always have extras. Also just to get things moving I transferred just under £33,000 to these people. Beaumont you are disorganised, heartless & probably overworked. AVOID !!!

Good Value conveyancing. I had apprehensions about using an online conveyancing process as I know from pass experiences how stressful moving can be. But I must say, using Beaumont was the best decision that we made. If you are a confident in sending emails and uploading documents to your account then do use them. They are always happy to help in anyway they can.
My case handler Steve was prompt, competent and always on the ball, and dealt with searches and queries extremely well, I cannot praise him enough! He contacted me regularly to keep me inform to how things were progressing. And I must also mention Jordan, who was also excellent when standing in for Steve while he was away.
My communication to the company was split 50/50 email and phone, depending on what was on my mind and what I needed to communicate.
Thank you Steve Jordan & Beaumont we hope to use you in the future.

I choose Beaumont based on price which was competitive but not the cheapest. I was buying a house with no chain, just a simple house purchase which should of taken 4 weeks with a competent solicitor. However with Beaumont it took 3 times that (12 weeks). During this time it has been impossible to contact my solicitor, if you call the switchboard you get put you on hold, or told your solicitor is away on annual leave. If you email you get no reply, they are impossible to contact.

Halfway through my conveyancing I was told I need further legal work doing at a cost of £600 due to the fact I was buying a BTL and that our mortgage company had insisted on this. Luckily I questioned this with Leeds and they said no legal work was required, just that I sign a ground 2 notice which I could download and email back to them. £600 for one signature?

At the end when I received my final bill it was £135 more than quoted, again I questioned this, I was told £120 was for legal protection of my property to stop other people taking out credit on my property. I did accept this charge but was still £15 out of pocket, by this stage I just wanted the sale to go through as the vendors were getting frustrated and talking about pulling out. Then on the day before the completion I was told I still owed another £5, for what I don't know. Again I paid this to complete.

To summarise, if you want to communicate with a solicitor and don't want to be fleeced for extra money then try someone else.

This was our first home buy, and the process started off quite in a good pace. The online portal was easy to upload all needed documents and also the messaging service was good and they did respond to our queries quite quickly.

But as they progressed to the stage of reviewing search results and raising enquiries they started to be very slow and it has been already months of waiting for us. It's extremely difficult to reach out to them over the phone and email. The management also didn't bother to return the phone call neither. It could often take up more days to get responses, which is really frustrating especially when you are pushing for a specific date for completion due to mortgage expiry, and have a lot to sort out around a specific date.

Now we are very worried that the transaction might collapse because of any further delays caused by them. Especially when they know the staff is going on annual leave it would have made more sense to have handed over the details to someone else much before rather than waiting till the last minute.

This is the WORST law firm to deal with. Can't be reached by phone, rarely return emails, and take FOREVER to do anything. Our offer letter was sent to them on 19 June and we have YET to receive the monies. The blame is always someone else's fault. If I could rate lower than a 1, I would. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!

Very slow, difficult to get hold of, threatening the chain

Beaumont Legal are one of the solicitors in a simple chain of 3: first time buyers who are purchasing off vendors who are buying a new build from a developer.

Beaumont Legal have been incredibly slow and difficult to get hold of, and it's starting to get to a point where the chain is threatened.

As an example of their slowness, Beaumont had the searches back end of May or start of June, but they taken a fortnight to actually get around to raising enquiries with the vendor's solicitors! (Or in other words, the first contact that Beaumont made with the vendor's solicitors was almost 6 weeks in to the process!)

These enquiries were responded to, but Beaumont required some further information (possibly as some information was not attached successfully) - and it taken Beaumont close to a working week to request this.

As it stands, the other two parties in the simple chain have been ready to exchange for the past week or two, whilst Beaumont still haven't reported back to their clients.

This is starting to threaten the chain because progress can't be demonstrated by the developer's sales reps, but Beaumont seemingly aren't concerned about this and are just continuing at their usual glacial pace..

It is also very difficult to get hold of Beaumont, with most calls going to voicemail or someone takes a message "to arrange a callback", but no callback ever happens.

Couldn't be happier with the speed and quality of the service we received as a first time buyer. We've never used solicitors before and have mainly heard negative things about solicitors so our expectations weren't too high but Beaumont Legal have been fantastic. Providing you can access emails and a printer and scanner then it is a super quick and easy way of dealing with solicitors. Me and my husband both work full time so being able to communicate mainly by email was perfect for us. Our case handler did change 2 or 3 times but this didn't slow down the process at all and the quality of communication was consistent throughout.

There's a lot of good things about the experience i had with this company but there were a number of frustrations at the end.

I spent most of my house purchase standing up for Beaumont Legal as I'm aware that they probably get a lot of stick due to impatient clients. On the most part I am satisfied with the overall experience but there are a few areas of improvement before I give away 5 stars.

Communication is below average. Our case worker didn't call me back once after numerous calls. In the latter stages I would wait on hold to make sure I got to speak to him. Email and message board response was minimal too.

Things would go quiet for long periods of time and then you would get a bulk of things at once. This was only really issue in the late stages as I felt that it was a bit rushed and unprepared at the last minute.

Charges would be added to our statement without prior consent and the pricing structure was confusing. I had to challenge a number of times to get items removed or changed to match the original pricing list. One such charge was for some anti fraud comment to be added to the title register. We were given warning of this but it was amongst a lot of detail in an email that had nearly 30 pages to read. It was lucky i spotted it as it was optional but was added as default so had to be removed by way of writing.

The case handler was not forthright with an anticipated completion date until the very last minute. As we were the bottom of the chain in rented accommodation, you can imagine the problems this caused us. We were homeless for nearly a week and had to make last minute arrangements which could have been avoided with a little preparedness.

Other than the bad points above, i would say that the concept of an online solicitor is very useful however i just don't think Beaumont are quite there yet. As soon as there are more competitors online then we should start to see a better service emerge.

But what can i say, we now have a brand new home which was successfully managed by this company so it can't all be bad, just don't expect it to pan out the way you plan it to!

The buyers of our house are using Beaumont Legal, and a straight forward sale, where both buyer and seller want a quick completion, is dragging on for 3 months due to delays caused by this solicitor. There are no complications or hold ups anywhere, they are just very slow to do their job. Their response to requests to get on with it, we have heard from the agents is "we take as long as we take!"

Do not use these if you want a quick and stress free transaction!

We were allocated Sam Rouse, who provided an excellent service. We were first time buyers, and had plenty of basic questions, all of which Sam was happy to answer for us and usually within 24 hours or less. He also chased up the seller's solicitors who were holding up proceedings at one stage and within two months of having our offer accepted, we had moved into our property.

As a first time buyer with no chain the whole process should've taken 6-8 weeks, not three months.

The rates charged are competitive but i would have happily paid more to have a senior solicitor assigned to my purchase. The plus side is the senior staff know what they are doing and are very good at communicating what is happening with the purchase and what is needed to move forward.
The down side is i only got through to a senior solicitor once the person assigned to my purchase had made so many mistakes the sale could have fallen through because the sellers solicitors thought we were stalling.

From the offset she was unclear as to what information and documentation she needed from us. Then after a month and a half of them not answering the phone and when they did - being unable to give a clear answer as to what was needed we then got a moving process. This could've been very prompt but again was slowed down by the amount of time it took to answer simple questions - normally between 1-3 days. Something which again could've been sorted over the phone very quickly but with the need to go away and "check" answers slowed everything.

It depends entirely on who you get assigned to your case, but if they are willing to let people like the one assigned to my case work i would be very worried about instructing them.

Far more economical than competitor quotes but no budget service. BL are diligent & efficient. Good service. Would use again.

Would give 0 stars if i could. The worst experience I've had moving home. Could never get hold of my case handler and had to threaten to make a complaint before he called me back. Took much longer than it needed to because they sent a request to the wrong address (even though I had provided the correct address on the portal they never check) and didn't bother to chase until I asked. On the eventual completion day, the statement they sent me was wrong. I asked why I was being over charged and they stated that after completing a review, thats the amount I owed. After 2 weeks of chasing they have finally sent me a cheque for the overpayment. Do yourself a favour and avoid!!!

Totally shocking experience. Its so bad you wouldn't even believe it. Passed from pillar to post during process I think about 5 different people ended up dealing with the transaction.
Seems they spend their days with Lord Lucian as he's probably easier to contact and talk to on the telephone. Estate Agent was a their wits end too.
Will put it down to experience, but won't be going back again.. I would encourage you if your looking for someone to pass on by.
Please don't ask me to put feedback at your email address..its just another channel for you to lose bad feedback and brush under the carpet. Great modern conveyancing service. Communication by email and online portal rather than post and fax - some traditional solicitors seem to be stuck in the 1980s. If you don't have unrealistic expectations (e.g. it might take a day or two to get a reply to an email, which is fine, still better than waiting a week for a reply to a letter!) then you should be fine.
Much like the budget airlines, the prices are low for a reason, there is obviously a lot of automation and streamlined processes, which is great if that's what you are expecting and you're happy to deal online. If you want face to face contact and the traditional way then use a traditional solicitor (and pay for it!)
The other advantage of using a big firm is that if your assigned person is unavailable (on holiday etc) there will be someone else to pick up your case and ensure it is progressing.

There user interface is SO GOOD!!! I know so many people who have had to send all of their documents away for review, something being wrong, resending... With Beaumont, you just upload it onto their portal and can download later if you want to. When steps were done, it was updated on the To-do style table.

Not only was the online experience very easy, but the staff and response to any questions via the online messaging system or phone was very good. On top of all of this, they were cheapest on a price comparison site.

Would definitely recommend and will be using again

My experience with Beaumont legal was absolutely disgraceful. They are totally unprofessional. Sobia Asghar was supposedly in control of my affairs, but she, as well as all of Beaumont legal staff were just a waste of time and totally amateur, playing the blame game with lost documents and information. Communication with them was always painful, the only word I can use is incompetent. I would never recommend Beaumont legal or Sobia Asghar. I really have difficulty in understanding the level of incompetence I had to endure.

We used Beaumont in 2015 and the service after a shaky start was approaching 4 star.
We had a named case handler who answer the phone and did his best to help.
This time they have gone across to a on-line service which provided no method of printing out the forms we filled out.
I tried to explain the forms were legal documents which I wanted to thoroughly check before submitting.
They failed to understand.
We did our forms by hand and then sent them in the post, so that we would have copies.
Unfortunately they disabled the on-line monitoring. To get a status we always had to phone the case handler.
He never answered the phone and we would get a multitude of other people to phone us back who did not know our case.
They would make promises which just didn't happen and then there would be a different Beaumont employee apologising for the broken promises.
They would go on holiday after making promises, knowing that they would not be there to carry them out the promises.
They would try and exchange contracts after 5pm and are then were surprised that everyone had gone home.
They are a complete joke and the worst part is we are still waiting!!!
Hopefully one of their directors (who are impossible to contact) will read this review, sort out their staff and get our contracts exchanged!!!!

This was our first home buy, and the process was pretty seamless.

Very helpful staff, everything has gone through for the date we were pushing for (with 3 in the chain which I know can hold things up), and very happy with the whole process.

The only thing that could be done better is responses to emails. It could often take up to a week to get responses, which can be a little frustrating when you are pushing for a specific date for completion, and have a lot to sort out around a specific date.

A quick 'thanks we got your email, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can' would have made a big difference, other than that though everything did go through for the date we wanted, and the help and support along the way has been great.

If you do choose to use Beaumont (and I really can recommend them as they made the process which is a first for us pretty straight forward), I would suggest using the phone rather than emails to chase up if you have an urgent enquiry as it always worked better for us.

All in all though, I would certainly be happy to recommend Beaumont.

We used Beaumont Legal for what i thought was a pretty straight forward property sale... i.e. no chain on either side. It started really well with great communication and the ability to check the progress of the case online. However we were waiting on documents from the buyers solicitors and our solicitor didn't see fit to chase these documents up for over 4 weeks causing a huge delay to the process. In fairness there was another issue to resolve following this delay which was not there fault which they were very helpful to resolve, however I cannot help but wonder if this was due to the complaint i had made over the previous delays. Beaumont Legal did nothing wrong, however they also didn't chase up or push forward the sale.
What was a simple sale with no chain took 15 weeks!!!!
If this is how long it takes for a simple no chain, house sale, how long would it take for anything with any additional considerations.
Would not recommend if you want to complete anytime soon!!!

I used Beaumont Legal a few years ago when I sold my house and they were faultless. This time round I was buying (having been renting since the sale). I cannot recommend them enough. Not only did I ring up and ask for a discount as a returning client but they delivered exactly what they promised. Natalie Earnshaw was fantastic. I would email her direct and always have a reply within 24hrs. I had no difficulty picking up the phone and speaking to someone too if I ever needed to. I was kept informed at every stage and had no concerns about completing on the day I had chosen.
